I do not know how much time had passed.

Another awakening, worse than death.

Dewey opened his eyes, struggling slightly like a wriggling maggot.

"How can one leave Azkaban?"

Dewey did not know.

He did not even know how many days he had spent in the ancient fortress, nor how many times he had been drained of happiness by the Dementors.

The ancient fortress of Azkaban had no locks and no cells; anyone could move about freely.

As long as you were not afraid of encountering a hungry Dementor while wandering, you were free to run around and try your luck.

Inside the fortress, everyone curled up in corners like infants, trying their best to look inconspicuous, praying they would not be discovered by the Dementors.

Unfortunately, Dementors did not rely on sight to observe living beings; they were blind, and their eyes saw only happiness.

Within the fortress, the time at which the Dementors devoured happiness was not fixed.

These high-security prisoners were nothing more than a buffet for the Dementors.

This ancient ruin exuded a sense of despair from top to bottom.

The deeper one went, the greater the number of Dementors.

The number of high-security prisoners increased as well.

Even the corpses were more numerous.

A small number of people, after dying, would be carried out by the Dementors and buried in the graveyard.

For the majority, their corpses were left to rot, ignored by all.

Many people here chose to starve themselves to death.

Endless suffering was more terrifying than death itself.

Dewey did not.

His innocence and the question of how to leave Azkaban were not exactly pleasant thoughts.

Because of this, these two things were firmly remembered by Dewey; they were not devoured by the Dementors. Instead, because they were beautiful memories, they were absorbed and snatched away by the Dementors, becoming even clearer in his mind.

Vicious hatred, just like beautiful emotions, would ferment over time and become more intense.

The longer he stayed in Azkaban, the more his hatred for the Dementors, the Death Eaters, the Ministry of Magic, and the Dark Arts grew with each passing day!

He ate his meals in a daze, driven only by a vague, inexplicable feeling.

"I will definitely be able to leave Azkaban!"

Here, he had even forgotten that he was a transmigrator.

In a muddled state, he did not know how many years had passed.

Today, on a day that was not particularly special, Dewey heard a sound in his ears.

"Ding-dong."

He did not move, curled up on the ground. Sunlight spilled onto him through the broken fortress, stirring a sliver of happiness within him.

It must be noon.

Soon, the Dementors would scent the happiness, track him down, and drain the meager amount of joy he had left.

The happiness in his memories had almost all been absorbed by the Dementors.

Lying on the ground, Dewey exerted all his strength, finally seeing the panel that appeared before him, and tried to comprehend it.

He felt a glimmer of happiness and hope once more!

"This is my golden finger, and it is my chance to leave this place."

He did not even want to ponder how this golden finger had appeared.

He only wanted it to exist!

Just to leave.

User: Dewey Jones (Pseudonym) Cards Learned: None Title: None Magic Power: 10 Magic Essence: 0 Duel Points: 0

With these simple lines of text, Dewey scrutinized them for a long while; it took him several minutes to understand that this was a card system.

He had almost forgotten what a golden finger was, or even how to spell it.

"Cards? What are cards? What am I supposed to do?"

He found the question mark on the panel and, after clicking it, suddenly felt invigorated.

He understood how his golden finger worked!

This card system was similar to Magic Awakened, but here, acquiring cards required him to "compete" for them.

By dealing damage to enemies during combat, they would randomly drop cards.

The cards dropped by enemies were related to the frequency with which they used them in their daily lives.

The dropped cards could be learned, allowing for wandless casting; naturally, if he used a wand, his magic consumption would be lower.

As for magic essence and duel points, he didn't care how to obtain them.

He glanced at them twice and knew that neither would be of any use in improving his current situation.

What he needed were cards—cards that could get him out of here!

Heaven favors me.

In that instant, Dewey thought of a way to leave this place!

He curled his body up tightly and used a sharp stone at his side to carve words into the floor.

Just as he finished carving a name, a Dementor not far away drifted over.

It had smelled joy.

It was time to eat.

Looking at Dewey lying on the ground, it turned its featureless face toward him and inhaled deeply.

In that very moment, Dewey felt his memories and his happiness drifting away from him.

He hugged himself tightly and passed out.

Once the Dementor was full, it drifted away.

When he woke up again, it was already evening.

An Auror's Patronus came in from outside, carrying food.

Dewey reached out mechanically, ate the food, drank the water, and then looked at the name on the floor.

A scrawled name.

"Black."

Sirius Black.

Looking at this name on the ground, Dewey's thoughts surged like the tide as he remembered.

He knew that his hope of escaping Azkaban lay with the owner of this name.

This was his only chance.

In the last three centuries, two people had escaped from Azkaban.

One was Barty Jr., who had been swapped out by his mother.

Barty Crouch Sr. had used his position to bring his terminally ill wife in, using Polyjuice Potion to swap her with their son.

Dementors do not recognize human faces.

They could only perceive a healthy person (Barty Crouch Sr.) bringing in a dying person (Barty Jr.'s mother), and then that healthy person leaving with another dying person (Barty Jr.).

A dying mother had been traded for a deranged Death Eater.

The other was Sirius Black.

His escape was due to magic.

He was an unregistered Animagus.

Animagus is the term for wizards who can transform into animals; once transformed, the Dementors only saw an animal.

Dementors have no aggression toward animals.

Barty Jr.'s escape route was of no help to him.

Dewey knew he didn't have a high-ranking Ministry official for a father, nor a mother willing to die for him.

He had to rely on himself.

He had to duel Sirius, beat him up, and make him drop the Animagus card.

Once he obtained the card, he could transform into an animal, slip out of the fortress, and board a ship to leave.

There were ships that traveled to Britain, carrying supplies and relief Aurors.

This was his only chance.

"Hope."

What a wonderful word.

Dewey felt as though he had come back to life.

He stood up shakily, clutching the sharp stone in his hand, and gazed into the depths of the fortress.

The deeper one ventured into these magical ruins, the more Dementors swarmed.

Even knowing that Sirius Black was imprisoned deeper within, and knowing that Sirius Black held the means for his escape, Dewey's body and mind were in a state of dual resistance at the sight of the swirling Dementors, making it impossible for him to walk into the depths of the ancient fortress.

"Ah!"

He drove a stone hard into his own thigh; under the sharp pain, Dewey cleared his head, gritted his teeth, and walked toward the depths of the fortress.

Blood dripped as Dewey constantly cheered himself on.

"I am innocent."

"The Ministry of Magic."

"Death Eaters."

"Voldemort!"

"Revenge."

"Freedom."

"Happiness."

"Chocolate."

"Hot cocoa."

"The sun."

With every word he spoke, he took another step deeper into the fortress, spurring himself on with hope and agony as the surrounding Dementors circled him.

These monsters could not taste a single shred of happiness.

The Dementors knew that they were only permitted to use the "Dementor's Kiss" on prisoners who escaped into the sea.

Beyond that, they could not kill on their own initiative.

This was their pact with the wizards.

For this prisoner who walked inside of his own volition, they were more than eager.

That was the scent of food.

Dewey felt as if he were submerged in rotting seawater, the surrounding Dementors making it impossible for him to catch his breath.

But it didn't matter; he looked into one cell after another, searching for Sirius.

None of these prison cells had doors.

The prisoners inside were like the dead, sitting there blankly, motionless.

Here, he saw many high-ranking Death Eaters, who stared at Dewey with wooden expressions.

But none of this mattered; he even saw Bellatrix, Sirius's cousin. Among these high-security prisoners, only Bellatrix and a few other Death Eaters still retained any vitality.

Finally, after opening one cell, he saw a man with a scruffy beard—a man he had never seen before.

Dewey leaned against the wall, continuing his test with no strength left.

Deep down, he held no hope.

"Peter Pettigrew is still alive."

He said it tentatively; if this man were truly Sirius, he would jump up.

Upon hearing this, the man sitting down suddenly raised his head.

He looked at Dewey with great numbness.

Seeing no reaction, Dewey intended to turn and try elsewhere.

To his surprise, however, the man seemed to ruminate on the words, then suddenly stood up.

As if suddenly imbued with life, he grabbed Dewey.

"What did you say? That's impossible, how could you know about Peter Pettigrew! I killed him with my own hands!"

He roared in a low voice, staring at Dewey in disbelief.

Dewey stared back at him.

He felt a genuine sense of joy, even though he knew this joy would attract the Dementors.

But he could no longer care.

"You are Sirius Black."

Dewey confirmed it again, muttering to himself.

"I've found Sirius Black!"

Sirius Black did not speak; he gripped Dewey and said, "What did you say! Peter Pettigrew..."

Having confirmed that the person before him was indeed Sirius Black, Dewey did not wait for Sirius to speak again; he used all his strength to land a heavy punch right on his jaw!

"Give it to me!"

Having knocked the strong man down with one punch, he threw himself onto Sirius with all his might, punching and kicking, not even feeling the pain in his own leg.

"Give it to me, give it to me, give it to me!"

The hysterical roar startled even the surrounding Death Eaters.

His reckless, death-defying demeanor caught even the hulking Sirius off guard for a moment.

Sirius was beaten until he was dizzy and disoriented; his nose bled, his lip was split, and the fresh blood staining his teeth made him look exceptionally terrifying!
