Background / History

Born Tom Riddle, he is the son of Merope Gaunt, a Squib descendant of Slytherin, and Tom Riddle Sr. Merope used Amortentia to obtain his father's affection; when the potion's effect ended, his father abandoned her, leading to her death. Tom regarded Merope with contempt and refused to acknowledge her as his mother. 223
