"What has happened, Minister?"
Lucius Malfoy arrived at the Leaky Cauldron shortly thereafter to meet with Fudge.
Compared to others, seeing Lucius Malfoy was always a welcome sight.
Lucius was never indecisive like the rest, nor would he ever fail to show proper respect.
When dealing with the Minister, he was always generous with his coin and adept at navigating social circles.
Fudge's face lit up with joy upon seeing Lucius Malfoy; he shared his thoughts, hoping to gain the assistance of this elegant, pale-blond man.
"I need you to help me persuade those people. Please ensure they agree to my request to expand the wanted list. Furthermore, I want you to coordinate the deployment of Dementors to Hogwarts until Sirius and Dewey are captured."
He remembered that Lucius had donated to Hogwarts.
He was on good terms with all the members of the Hogwarts Board of Governors.
Seeing a thoughtful expression cross Lucius's face, he added, "I will handle Dumbledore myself."
"That would be perfect, Minister."
Lucius said pleasantly, "I will see to it for you."
Fudge laughed heartily.
He always possessed a mysterious sense of overconfidence.
Having never witnessed the true extent of human power, he believed Dumbledore was merely a slightly stronger wizard.
It was not just him; the Hit Wizards and Aurors of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement thought the same.
If he truly wished, he believed he could throw Dumbledore into Azkaban at any moment.
Hearing the Minister speak in such a manner, Lucius Malfoy revealed a charming smile.
"Happy to be of service."
He bowed slightly as he spoke, and Fudge laughed happily, feeling this was the best news he had heard in days.
One good turn deserves another.
In exchange for this favor, Fudge would secure even greater benefits for Lucius.
A Minister could not attend to every single matter personally.
He did not know as many people as Lucius Malfoy; the Malfoy Family had endured for generations, maintaining connections with every Pure-blood Family and every faction.
Lucius Malfoy himself was a man with reach that extended to the heavens.
He had once served as a high-ranking official under Voldemort, committing countless atrocities.
Yet, even after Voldemort's fall, such a man remained unscathed, even entering the Ministry of Magic to become a high-ranking official.
He had even joined the Hogwarts Board of Governors and was an honored guest at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
"Thank you, Lucius."
Fudge grasped Lucius's hand with his sweaty palm, thanking him enthusiastically. Lucius bade him a polite farewell, but upon returning to his manor, he scrubbed his hand repeatedly in disgust.
"Where have you been?"
Lucius's wife asked from behind him.
Lucius's wife was also from a Pure-blood Family; her name was Narcissa Malfoy. Of course, Malfoy was the surname she took after marrying Lucius.
She was born a Black, Narcissa Black. Just as Lestrange was the surname of Bellatrix, taken from her husband, she and Bellatrix were sisters.
Compared to her deranged sister, Narcissa was a clear-headed woman.
She was even more clear-headed than her own husband.
The only things she cared about were her family.
Within that family, her son took priority over her husband, Lucius.
She had always spared no effort in protecting her family.
"That fool, Fudge."
In front of his family, Lucius never cared to hide his disdain; he loudly mocked the foolish new Minister, recounting his pathetic display.
"Do you remember Dewey? Dewey Jones, that pathetic wretch who used to fawn over me?"
He asked.
Narcissa shook her head. She truly did not remember such things. As Bellatrix's sister and Lucius's wife, she had held a high position under the Dark Lord, and after Voldemort's fall, she had paid no attention to the Ministry's purges.
Who was Dewey?
She did not know, nor would she ever pay attention to a nobody.
Even if that nobody had gone hunting Aurors with her sister.
"Ha, even you don't know?"
Lucius became even more smug.
"It is precisely such a nobody who has scared that fool Fudge out of his wits. He came to beg for my help. Do you know what he said?"
"Lucius..."
Lucius Malfoy reenacted the scene, grabbing Narcissa's hand and saying with deep emotion, "I need your help—hahaha, it's just too ridiculous, he needs my help. He's simply been scared witless by a fool like Dewey."
Just as he was laughing, a figure appeared at the doorway.
"Uh."
Draco Malfoy stood in the doorway.
He was unfazed by the sight.
Seeing his son, Narcissa pulled her hand away.
"Why are you here?"
She asked Draco Malfoy gently. Draco replied that he had heard voices, and more importantly, he was curious about what his father was saying.
"Oh, it's like this."
Lucius recounted the events, focusing heavily on mocking Fudge and highlighting his own brilliance and greatness.
Before Draco could even react, Narcissa had already jumped up.
"Absolutely not, absolutely not!"
She declared loudly. Narcissa knew exactly how dangerous Dementors were, and she would not allow her son to live in such a perilous environment for an entire school year.
"Lucius, let's go find Snape and have him arrange a year-long medical leave for Draco. Hogwarts is simply too dangerous. We cannot let Draco take such risks," Narcissa insisted.
"There's no need, Mother, it's fine, I can handle it," Draco said, fearless in his ignorance. Lucius also comforted his wife, "Don't worry about this, Narcissa. With Dumbledore there, the Dementors won't be able to stir up any trouble at Hogwarts. Besides, even if Sirius really did reach Hogwarts, he wouldn't harm Draco."
Draco Malfoy and Sirius were, after all, related.
The Malfoy Family had kinship ties with almost every existing Pure-blood Family; even if they didn't, they could always find a connection if they dug deep enough.
More importantly, even as a former Death Eater, Lucius still had absolute faith in Dumbledore's capabilities.
As for Dewey?
He didn't hold Dewey in any regard at all.
Everyone has their flaws, and Lucius's flaw was the Seven Deadly Sins: Pride.
St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
Mad-Eye Moody was in the ward. The two injured agents had just been conscious for a moment before drifting back into a heavy, drowsy sleep.
Dumbledore stood beside Mad-Eye Moody, conversing with him.
The Dementors entering Hogwarts was a foregone conclusion.
He was the Headmaster, the administrator of Hogwarts, not its owner.
Under dual pressure from the Board of Governors and the Ministry of Magic, he had no choice but to allow the Dementors into Hogwarts.
To get the Dementors to leave, he had to find Sirius and Dewey.
He was very busy.
Since obtaining Tom Riddle's diary, Dumbledore had even more to do.
On one hand, he was searching for the remaining Deathly Hallows; on the other, he had begun tracking Tom Riddle's trail once again.
He keenly sensed that the diary—the one that had lured Ginny Weasley—was not as simple as it seemed.
Horcrux.
The term crossed Dumbledore's mind. He realized that Voldemort was creating Horcruxes.
Voldemort had been the brightest and most gifted student he had ever taught; he simply hadn't expected that his star pupil would also learn how to create Horcruxes.
Even many masters of the Dark Arts could not create a Horcrux.
Because he was so busy, his energy was spread thin. As he spoke with Mad-Eye Moody, Moody recalled the state of the two agents when he first saw them and was taken aback. "They looked like they had been beaten by a werewolf or a half-giant," Mad-Eye Moody said. "I have never seen a wizard fight like that, Dumbledore. Does Dewey have werewolf blood?"
"No, I can be certain of that—he does not," Dumbledore replied. Even he could not comprehend Dewey's actions.
Logically speaking, the time between Harry Potter leaving home and boarding the train was his most vulnerable moment. Why hadn't Dewey made a move then?
Was his target not Harry Potter?
Why had he simply gone to beat up Ministry of Magic agents?
Was it merely to vent his anger?
What was his true objective?
What did he plan to do next?
Dumbledore could not fathom Dewey's actions; everyone operated according to an internal logic, and by grasping that logic, one could predict their movements.
"Dewey, what exactly is he trying to do?"
Even Dumbledore could not be certain of Dewey's next move.
Moreover, Harry Potter would soon be entering Hogwarts, and he had many matters of his own to attend to.
He truly did not have the time to pursue a killer across thousands of miles.
He still wished to search for the Deathly Hallows on his own.
The Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, the Invisibility Cloak.
Dumbledore, too, had made a mistake.
The Seven Deadly Sins, Greed.
