Background / History

Ji Ning entered the Black-White Academy as a Purple Mansion cultivator expecting instruction from an ordinary senior, but Immortal Ganyu—Zhou Yu—personally accepted him as a disciple. His acceptance stunned the academy because Ganyu had lived in seclusion for millions of years and had never previously taken a disciple. 1

During the aftermath of the Wujiang Immortal Mansion expedition, a Loose Immortal attempted to kill Ji Ning. A purple jade pendant given by Zhou Yu shattered and destroyed the attacker, preserving Ji Ning's life. The incident exposed the Shaoyan Clan's hostility toward Ji Ning because of his Yuchi Clan lineage and its connection to his mother's death. Ji Ning consequently chose to enter the Immortal Fate Assembly, seeking both strength and eventual revenge. 17 18
