A wave of energy erupted from the center of the ring, radiating outward.

Zhang Wutian and Son Wukong locked in a clash, the two of them appearing evenly matched.

Neither side would give an inch, and they remained deadlocked.

"You're strong. Much stronger than a year ago. Is this the result of training under Master Roshi?"

"You're the one to talk, Zhang Wutian. You're like a completely different person compared to before. How have you been training?"

The two conversed while locked in a struggle of strength; though they were fighting, there was absolutely no hostility between them.

For the two of them, who sparred often, this so-called battle was merely a part of their daily play.

"Me?" In response to Son Wukong's question, Zhang Wutian said, "For the past year, I've been training under Master Korin."

"Master Korin?" Son Wukong wondered if all the strong guys were masters.

"Master Korin?!" On the sidelines, Mary Sue, who had overheard Zhang Wutian, could no longer remain calm. She had clearly heard of Master Korin's reputation.

As the momentum of their collision began to fade, Zhang Wutian suggested during the stalemate, "Shall we keep going like this? It's a rare chance to have a match, why not move around a bit more?"

"Sure." Son Wukong readily agreed.

The two retreated simultaneously, then launched into a series of dazzling offensive and defensive maneuvers.

Son Wukong threw a punch at Zhang Wutian, but he vanished from before her eyes with incredible speed.

"Behind you!!"

Before she could even turn around, Son Wukong kicked backward with a piercing strike. However, Zhang Wutian seemed to have read her thoughts; he ducked to avoid it and countered with a sweep that knocked her off her feet.

Though she fell, Son Wukong didn't just give up. She braced her hands against the ground and vaulted into the air.

"Too naive!"

Zhang Wutian had been waiting for this. He appeared higher up, clasped his hands together, and hammered them downward.

"Not naive at all!!"

Son Wukong changed her movement, turning defense into offense, and kicked out at Zhang Wutian's clasped hands.

Zhang Wutian's fists collided with her flying kick, but his momentum remained unchanged, and he hammered Son Wukong back down to the ground.

The ring cracked where Son Wukong landed, the fissures spreading like a spiderweb. She braced her hands on the ground to push herself up, but Zhang Wutian did not pursue. He dissipated the force of her kick, landed on the ground, and watched his opponent climb back up with composure.

"Come on, Wukong, don't let him suppress you!" Krillin shouted from the side.

Son Wukong wasn't discouraged. She climbed up, brushed the dust off her clothes, and said cheerfully, "That was amazing, Zhang Wutian. I thought I had improved a lot this year, but I didn't expect you to have improved even more. You didn't let me wait in vain."

"If you don't have any other tricks, I'm going to win," Zhang Wutian said.

"It's still too early for that! Watch this!" With that, Son Wukong struck the pose for the Kamehameha.

"So that's it." Anyone who has read the Dragon Ball manga has likely imagined themselves performing a Kamehameha; almost every child has imitated that move at some point. Zhang Wutian was no exception. To him, coming to the Dragon Ball world and not learning this move would have been a wasted trip.

Thus, Zhang Wutian also struck a Kamehameha pose.

Of course, Zhang Wutian was merely striking a pose; his internal method of circulating energy was completely different. After all, he hadn't trained under Master Roshi and didn't understand the Turtle Hermit School's way of channeling energy. However, once you understand one principle, you understand them all. Under Master Korin, Zhang Wutian had learned how to move his energy, so he was still capable of striking a pose and firing off a shockwave. Naturally, his shockwave couldn't match the efficiency of the original Kamehameha—the original move's motions were perfectly synced with the Turtle Hermit School's energy circulation, with every step having its own unique principle—but Zhang Wutian still struck the pose. It was a matter of sentiment, after all.

"This brat, he's too mischievous, actually imitating his opponent's move on the spot. What about that move you developed yourself?" Far away on Korin Tower, Master Korin, who was watching the live broadcast on the TV Zhang Wutian had left behind, laughed and scolded.

"Kamehameha versus Kamehameha? Interesting!" Mary Sue stroked her chin from the side, watching with great interest.

"Kame-hame..."

Son Wukong was not distracted in the slightest. Her mind was clear, free of all stray thoughts, as she silently channeled the energy within her, gathering it into her palms.

"HA!!" The next moment, a beam of orange-yellow light erupted from her palms.

"Shockwave!!" Simultaneously, Zhang Wutian's knock-off Kamehameha was launched, a beam of light that looked no different from Son Wukong's pushing forward to meet it.

The two beams met in the center of the ring, clashing head-on.

There was no deafening explosion. Zhang Wutian's shockwave and Son Wukong's Kamehameha collided in mid-air, then locked in a stalemate.

This was a struggle of strength on a different level, far more dangerous than hand-to-hand combat. The loser would suffer double the impact—not only from the enemy's energy blast but also from their own energy being pushed back onto them.

"Is this all you've got?" Even while locked in the energy struggle, Zhang Wutian still had the breath to speak. Although he was using a knock-off Kamehameha and his energy efficiency couldn't compare to the genuine article, his combat power was superior. Using 80/100 of his power to crush Son Wukong's 50/50, he held the upper hand.

As for why Zhang Wutian was stronger than Son Wukong, it was simply because he frequently sparred with the much stronger Master Korin, so he naturally grew stronger.

"..." Son Wukong's face flushed red as she poured everything into her output without a word. Just maintaining this was taking everything she had.

The point where the two energy beams met gradually shifted toward Son Wukong. It was clear she was losing ground.

"Come on, Wukong, don't lose to him!!" Krillin shouted from the side.

"Wukong, go for it!!" Bulma and the others in the audience were also cheering for her.

"Is she done for?" Yamcha watched from the side, looking anxious.

"Ugh!!" Son Wukong tried her absolute best to push the energy back, but the point of collision continued to move toward her, slowly but surely.

But the very next moment, Zhang Wutian felt the resistance on the other side vanish into thin air.

His energy blast surged straight forward.

A violent explosion turned half of the ring into a deep crater, and flames, debris, and the rising dust cloud engulfed Son Wukong's body.

"Damn, I got too carried away..." Zhang Wutian felt a slight sense of regret.

"Wukong! You killed Wukong!!"

Krillin began to cry on the sidelines.

"Wukong!!" Bulma and the others shrieked in alarm.

"Oh no, why did Wukong's energy blast suddenly vanish? Did she run out of strength?" Yamcha asked in surprise.

Zhang Wutian, however, wasn't particularly worried about Son Wukong's safety. This was Son Wukong, after all; even if she was a female version from another world, she was still a descendant of the warrior Saiyan race. She wouldn't die that easily.

Furthermore, based on the sensation from that final moment, Zhang Wutian knew it wasn't exhaustion. Son Wukong had voluntarily abandoned the beam struggle.

Because Son Wukong's Kamehameha had vanished, only Zhang Wutian's shockwave had struck her in the end. By choosing to forfeit, she had avoided the combined impact of both attacks, ensuring she was only hit by a single shockwave.

Not only that, but by being the first to abandon the Kamehameha struggle, Son Wukong had enough leeway to mount a limited defense in the split second before the impact.

Mary Sue, watching from the side of the ring, curled her lips into a smile.

"Decisive when it counts. Well done, kid. Now, start your counterattack!"

The next moment, a slender figure burst out of the smoke, shooting toward her opponent like an arrow.

I feel like I'm going out more often lately, so I can't devote myself to writing as fully as I used to.
