"What are you all doing?" A cold voice rang out from the cockpit doorway. "Return to your posts."
Although the words themselves weren't particularly harsh, the tone—as frigid as a northern wind—was enough to make any nosy onlooker scurry away, especially since it came from General Tien Shinhan, the Red Ribbon Army's notoriously stoic "three-no" iceberg.
The bystanders obediently returned to their duties, at least no longer daring to gawk openly at the two outsiders, Zhang Wutian and Son Wukong. Tien Shinhan then walked up to Zhang Wutian with a grim face.
"I don't know what you're planning, but bringing her to our world is clearly a reckless decision. It serves no purpose other than to incite panic and chaos. Do you intend to use that face of hers to negotiate with that monster? Foolish!"
"If you don't know what I'm planning, then shut up," Zhang Wutian said bluntly, before turning to Son Wukong. "Wukong, take out the Dragon Balls and let's have a look."
"Okay." Son Wukong pulled the Dragon Balls from the pocket at her waist.
Two orange, translucent spheres rolled out and clattered onto the table.
Even in a different world, the Dragon Balls had not lost their efficacy; some mysterious connection allowed them to maintain their power.
"This... this is..." Krillin seemed to realize something, his voice trembling noticeably.
"These are the Dragon Balls. If you gather all seven, they can grant any wish. How about we make a wish to 'bring back everyone killed by that guy'?"
"Grant any wish..." Krillin took a deep breath. "Really... any wish at all?"
"Actually, your world has these Dragon Balls too, but you were unlucky. The person who created them was killed, so they lost their power and turned into ordinary stones."
"The person who created the Dragon Balls... could it be King Piccolo?" Krillin quickly made the connection.
"Half right." Zhang Wutian couldn't be bothered to explain the complicated, love-hate history between Kami and the Demon King. He glanced at Tien Shinhan and continued, "The problem now is that even if we revive the people of this world, that guy can just kill them all over again. So, before using the Dragon Balls, I believe our top priority is to take him out."
"Wait, if the Dragon Balls can grant any wish, why don't we just wish for the monster to be destroyed?" Krillin asked.
"There are two reasons for that." Zhang Wutian held up two fingers. "First, Shenron cannot kill someone stronger than its creator." He lowered one finger. "Second, as a martial artist, I wouldn't do something so spineless. It's not often I get to visit a world like this; how could I pass up the chance to meet him?"
"You have no idea how terrifying that guy is!!" Tien Shinhan said, his voice sounding as if it were being squeezed through his teeth.
"You're wrong again!" Zhang Wutian glanced at him. "I do know, because I have someone just like him right by my side."
As he said this, Zhang Wutian looked at the oblivious Son Wukong.
"Her?" Tien Shinhan paused, then added, "She's no match for that monster at all!!"
"She might not be a match now, but what about after some training?"
"Do you have any idea how many people will be killed in the meantime?!"
"Everything can be restored with the Dragon Balls." As a veteran of the series, although Zhang Wutian hadn't personally used the Dragon Balls, he had clearly developed a severe case of the "Dragon Ball dependency" unique to that world—and a terminal case at that.
Tien Shinhan, who had never encountered the Dragon Balls and had no idea how crazily they would be abused in the future, naturally couldn't understand Zhang Wutian's way of thinking. However, Zhang Wutian's next words silenced him completely.
"Are you confused about something, Tien Shinhan? As people from another world, we are willing to help, but it is not our obligation. Have you mistaken our goodwill for a duty just because I've been acting a bit too proactive?"
"..." Tien Shinhan gritted his teeth, glaring daggers at Zhang Wutian.
"Sorry, sorry. Tien Shinhan has lost too many comrades in the fight against that monster, so he's a bit on edge. Please don't take it to heart," Krillin said, stepping in to mediate.
In reality, Krillin had lost just as many comrades as Tien Shinhan. Zhang Wutian actually admired this world's Krillin more than Tien Shinhan, so he smiled and said, "Let's go. I'll take you to a good place for training. I hope it hasn't been destroyed yet."
Although it was another world, the structure was almost identical. Following Zhang Wutian's directions, the airship arrived at Karin Sacred Land.
It appeared to have suffered no damage, and the Indian tribe that guarded the sacred land still lived there in peace.
The arrival of the airship shattered the tranquility of the sacred land. Bora and Upa, now a teenager, looked up at the massive vessel blocking out the sky.
Zhang Wutian, Son Wukong, and Krillin leaped down to the ground, while Tien Shinhan used the Flight technique to descend from the air.
"Is this the Crane School's Flight technique? Teach me that move sometime."
"If you can save the world, that is," Tien Shinhan said coldly.
"Who are you people?" Bora asked, watching the strangers who had suddenly appeared in the sacred land.
"Two martial artists from another world, and two from this one. We wish to climb this tower to see Master Korin."
"Another world?" Though he didn't quite understand Zhang Wutian's introduction, as the guardian of the sacred land, Bora's only duty was to drive away those who caused trouble or destruction. He wouldn't stop anyone from climbing Korin Tower.
"We could have used the airship to visit Master Korin directly, but the master doesn't like taking shortcuts. Besides, climbing from the bottom is a form of training itself—especially for you, Wukong. This will be good for you."
"You say a master lives up there?" Krillin asked.
"Your world's Master Roshi really didn't tell you anything, did he? Master Korin on this tower was once known as the God of Martial Arts. In our world, I trained under him for a while."
"I've heard legends like that..." Tien Shinhan muttered to himself.
"God of Martial Arts?" Though she had been out of the loop, Son Wukong wasn't stupid; she could follow the conversation. "Is there someone really strong living up there? Stronger than old lady Master Roshi?"
"It's not so much about strength, but he's very good at training disciples. He's a great teacher."
Without further ado, once the decision was made, Tien Shinhan took the lead and began to climb, followed by Krillin, then Son Wukong. Zhang Wutian took the rear, climbing up last.
The four figures quickly vanished from Bora's sight.
