The sun set.
That day, Little Wukong brought home more than just her prey.
A purple-haired girl followed cautiously behind Little Wukong as she returned home.
"Zhang Wutian, I'm back! Look what I caught!" Little Wukong boasted, carrying the large fish she had captured on her back.
"A human girl? Have you finally revealed your true colors? You cannibalistic monkey!!"
"I told you I don't eat people! I don't eat them!" Although she had been teased by Zhang Wutian like this many times, Little Wukong still panicked and retorted just as she had the first time, pouting as she unleashed a playful flurry of punches at him.
The purple-haired girl, however, was visibly horrified and retreated several steps.
"Alright, alright, I'm just kidding. Welcome back." Catching Little Wukong's light, harmless blows, Zhang Wutian laughed as he stepped back.
"Hmph, seriously, stop joking around like that." Little Wukong looked at Zhang Wutian with dissatisfaction, then turned to the girl behind her. "Bulma, this is Zhang Wutian. He is my husband."
"Hus... husband?!"
Bulma, clearly the undisputed heroine of the entire Dragon Ball series, a 16-year-old genius girl, looked at the young Sun Wukong, then at the clearly adult Zhang Wutian. She pulled a submachine gun from behind her back and aimed it at him.
"Pervert! Shameless! Filthy!! What have you done? To think you'd lay a hand on a little girl! Get away from me, you disgusting creep!!"
"Uh... Miss Bulma, is it? To jump to conclusions without knowing the facts—honestly, my first impression of you is quite poor." Zhang Wutian scratched his cheek and said calmly.
Being pointed at with a gun felt uncomfortable. Theoretically, since he could now hold his own against Little Wukong, he shouldn't be afraid of firearms. But Zhang Wutian had come from a world dominated by technology; it was only natural to feel a sense of awe toward guns until he had actually faced them.
"Can you put the gun down now? Being pointed at by that thing makes me feel very unhappy."
"If I put the gun down, I'm the one who's going to be unhappy! What's this about Little Wukong's husband? Answer me honestly!"
"A husband is someone you've kissed, right? Don't you know that, Bulma?" Little Wukong, seemingly still oblivious to the situation, continued to pour oil on the fire.
"Kissed... I haven't even done that! Wait, you actually kissed such a young girl?! You perverted lolicon!!" Convinced that Zhang Wutian was a degenerate, Miss Bulma tightened her grip on the gun.
"I told you, monkey girl, stop making things worse!!"
"But I'm telling the truth."
"I know you're telling the truth, but you're phrasing it all wrong!"
"Oh, so I should say it backwards?" With that, Little Wukong used her tail to hook onto a tree branch, swinging upside down as she grinned at Zhang Wutian and Bulma.
"I think you can understand why this monkey girl is a bit dense, Miss Bulma," Zhang Wutian said, spreading his hands innocently.
"I think I'm starting to get it." Bulma sighed and lowered her gun.
After the small misunderstanding was resolved, the Sun household became lively.
Inside the room, Miss Bulma discovered the Four-Star Ball, which was being worshipped as a memento of Sun Wukong's grandfather.
Then came the usual smooth-talking from the original story. Zhang Wutian watched from the sidelines, choosing not to interfere.
Intervening in the plot here would be easy; Sun Wukong trusted Zhang Wutian far more than she trusted Bulma. But Zhang Wutian did not stop Bulma from persuading Little Wukong to leave the mountains. The reason was simple: this was the first step in Little Wukong's journey and the starting point of the Dragon Ball world. Without this step, nothing would begin. If Little Wukong didn't take this step, who would defeat the various powerful enemies that would appear on Earth, whether actively or passively? Him? Zhang Wutian?
In any case, Zhang Wutian felt that even if he could defeat Demon King Piccolo, Raditz, or Vegeta, he likely couldn't defeat the cosmic emperor Frieza, let alone the Androids, Cell, or Buu that followed. Zhang Wutian wasn't sure if he would stay in this world forever. Rather than disrupting the plot for a moment of satisfaction, it was better to let the story unfold and allow Little Wukong to grow along her destined path. Otherwise, if a powerful enemy appeared and no one was there to stop them, it would be a tragedy where the Earth met its end.
When Little Wukong decided to go on a journey with Bulma, she turned to Zhang Wutian and said:
"Zhang Wutian, you should come with us too."
"I will be leaving, but not with you."
"Eh??" Little Wukong looked at Zhang Wutian in surprise.
Zhang Wutian ruffled Little Wukong's spiky hair and said, "I had already planned to leave for a while. Now that Miss Bulma is accompanying you, I can rest easy."
"But where are you going?" Little Wukong asked anxiously. "Didn't you get lost? You'll never find your way out if you're alone."
"Did you forget?" Zhang Wutian laughed. "I've become stronger now. It doesn't matter if I get lost; I'll just keep moving forward."
"But... but..."
"No more buts. Let's make a promise!"
Zhang Wutian crouched down in front of Little Wukong so their eyes were level. "One year from now, a martial arts tournament called the World Martial Arts Tournament will be held. I will participate in that competition. Let's settle things there."
"World Martial Arts Tournament?" Little Wukong repeated the unfamiliar term, looking at Zhang Wutian in confusion.
"Miss Bulma should know about it. Just have her take you there when the time comes."
With that, Zhang Wutian turned his gaze to Bulma. "As payment for borrowing the Four-Star Ball, can I entrust this to you, Miss Bulma?"
Dragon Balls scatter in all directions after a wish is granted. Bulma had deceived Little Wukong into lending her the ball by keeping this fact hidden. Zhang Wutian seemed to have seen through this sinister intent. Realizing this, Miss Bulma wisely patted her chest and promised there would be absolutely no problem.
"I'll be stronger in a year, and next time, I'll definitely beat you!"
Though she was still a bit reluctant, Little Wukong had a cheerful disposition. She quickly adjusted and grinned, "That won't happen! I'll get stronger too, and I'll be the one who wins!"
"See you at the World Martial Arts Tournament in a year."
"Yeah!"
Zhang Wutian and Little Wukong bumped their fists together.
"Hey, can we eat now? I'm starving." Feeling a bit ignored, Miss Bulma, acting as the third wheel, looked quite annoyed.
