A was originally a youth from Earth before transmigrating to Universe 7's Earth, where he awakened on the seabed near Master Roshi's island. He activated the Saiyan Limit System after realizing that survival in the Dragon Ball world required overwhelming strength. The system granted a Newbie Gift Pack containing Saiyan physiology, a 100-billion base combat power, combat techniques, and Super Saiyan transformations through Super Saiyan 4 1 2.

His emergence from the ocean drew the attention of Son Goku and Vegeta, who recognized his ki as Saiyan-like. A introduced himself as Soya but initially declined Goku's invitation, preferring to assess the world and his own capabilities first 3 4.

After decisively defeating Vegeta, A accepted Goku's challenge to gain real combat experience.
