He Was Actually Fine?

Li Lin felt the starkly contrasting moods on either side of him and felt a little awkward.

Because he was standing right between the two groups, he could neither move forward nor retreat.

All he could do was stand there like an idiot, wearing an awkward smile.

"Oh?" Frieza had naturally noticed Li Lin. His brow furrowed slightly as he slowly raised a finger. "Then I'll start with you."

It was the first time he'd seen someone who wasn't afraid in his presence—in fact, someone who could even smile.

People like that made him very uncomfortable. And since they made him uncomfortable, he would just have to send them to their deaths.

Li Lin watched Frieza point at him, his mouth parting slightly. He hadn't expected to be the first target.

At once, he couldn't help but panic.

Although he now had the power of a Super Saiyan 2, he had no idea how to use it. He didn't even know how to draw upon the power within him!

"Hey, hurry up and dodge!"

Seeing this, Krillin hurriedly shouted a warning.

He was still a kindhearted person. Seeing a living person about to die right in front of him filled him with deep sorrow.

"Hmph, idiot!"

Vegeta frowned as he glanced at Li Lin and cursed under his breath.

Clearly, he thought Li Lin was just an ordinary Earthling with no fighting ability whatsoever.

He wondered why the humans on this planet were so stupid.

When faced with a scene like this, shouldn't they run away at once?

Why had he just stood there gawking for so long? Now he'd have to pay the price for his stupidity.

Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and the others could only shake their heads helplessly at the sight.

They wanted to save the young man standing before them, but they weren't strong enough.

If they rushed in, they would probably die alongside him!

"Huh?"

Krillin's shout snapped Li Lin out of his daze, and he immediately tried to dodge.

After all, he hadn't undergone any systematic training and still didn't know how to use his own power.

It would be maddening to die before he even had a chance to use it!

But even though he tried to dodge, it was already too late.

"Heh!" Frieza gave a cruel laugh as a purple flash suddenly appeared at his fingertip.

"Whoosh!"

A straight purple beam shot out and sped toward Li Lin.

"Ah!" Seeing the destructive purple beam coming at him, Li Lin's eyes flew wide open, and he let out a terrified scream.

Just as the beam was about to hit him, he ducked his head and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Boom!"

An explosion rang out, and clouds of smoke slowly billowed upward.

The spot where Li Lin had been standing was now engulfed in thick smoke.

"Damn it!" Seeing this, Krillin cursed furiously.

The others couldn't help feeling a sense of shared grief.

They hadn't known Li Lin, but they would probably meet the same fate.

Sure enough, after seeing that his attack had hit, Frieza smiled and licked his lips.

"Heh!" Then he turned his gaze back to Vegeta and the others. "Now it's your turn."

The sight of Frieza's cruel, eerie gaze made everyone shudder.

Krillin had been furious, but the moment he felt that icy killing intent, fear replaced his anger.

His body involuntarily took several steps backward.

"You're all going to die!"

A strange gleam shone in Frieza's eyes as a purple energy ball appeared in his hand.

Everyone immediately braced themselves and assumed fighting stances.

But just as Frieza was about to strike and eliminate them, King Cold's voice stopped him. "Frieza, wait a moment!"

Frieza's brow furrowed slightly when he heard him, as though he was displeased.

Still, he halted his attack and turned around to ask calmly, "What is it, Father?"

King Cold wasn't looking at Frieza. His eyes remained fixed on the area where the explosion had taken place.

Following his father's gaze, Frieza turned to look as well, confused.

When the people on Earth saw Frieza stop attacking, they breathed a slight sigh of relief.

They also turned their eyes toward the blast site, curious about what could have made Frieza stop.

As everyone watched in curiosity, a calm voice suddenly rang out. "That was close, that was close. I almost got killed by you."

The smoke slowly cleared, revealing Li Lin, the very person who had been hit by the attack.

The unexpected turn of events made Frieza's pupils contract sharply.

Frieza wasn't the only one surprised. The powerful fighters on Earth were also stunned by what was happening.

"That guy's actually fine?"

Krillin said in disbelief.

He wasn't the only one. Even Vegeta was shocked.

An Earthling had taken one of Frieza's attacks and was completely unharmed.

If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed it either.
