Shimura Danzo

The Hokage's office.

Hiruzen Sarutobi and Fei Shi sat facing each other. Hiruzen had the other ninja nearby go count the casualties and comfort the villagers, while Fei Shi sipped tea and listened to their conversation.

The door opened, and a man with a gloomy expression walked in.

"Hiruzen, the Nine-Tails has been sealed? And what was that golden giant that appeared on the battlefield? If I'm not mistaken, that was the Susanoo of the Uchiha Clan's Mangekyō Sharingan. How could you let them near the Nine-Tails!"

"Hmph! Of course it's been sealed. So what if the Uchiha got close? That's still much better than you hiding far away!"

"You!"

Shimura Danzo's expression darkened further.

"Hmph! If I'm not mistaken, this must be the boy. You actually let a stranger near the Nine-Tails. Maybe he was behind the whole spectacle today!"

Hiruzen was almost laughing with anger.

I went with all those ninja to stop the Nine-Tails, while Minato went to stop the man suspected of being Madara Uchiha. You didn't even show your face, and now you've got the nerve to bark here. You've got quite the thick skin.

"Then what do you think we should do?"

"Leave him to Root. I'll investigate his identity and find out whether his background is clean or if he might be a spy. Besides, don't you find it suspicious that an outsider has the Sharingan? Perhaps it's part of someone's scheme!"

Even Fei Shi, sitting off to the side, couldn't take it anymore. Damn it, I'm sitting right here, and you're badmouthing me to my face. Who do you think you are? You don't even have enough Sharingan to use Izanagi. I could take on ten of you!

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. You must be Lord Shimura Danzo, the Konoha elder. No wonder my sister warned me again and again not to talk to anyone named Shimura Danzo when I got to Konoha, or I'd throw up my dinner from the night before. Then he pretended to vomit.

Hiruzen didn't stop him. He wanted the boy to take Danzo down a peg. He knew about some of the things Danzo did behind his back; others he only learned about afterward. He didn't know whether Danzo had done anything else earth-shattering without telling him. Even what he already knew was enough to make him furious.

If Konoha didn't still need Danzo, Hiruzen wouldn't have been so patient with him.

At those words, Fei Shi grinned. That was exactly what he'd been waiting for!

"Because of who I am. My grandfather is Madara Uchiha, my grandmother is Lord Hashirama's cousin, my maternal grandmother is Lord Mito Uzumaki's cousin, and my maternal grandfather is the uncle of the current Hyuga Clan head. Tsunade is my cousin."

Shimura Danzo froze, then realized what was going on. This brat was messing with him, wasn't he? Did he think dragging all those great clans into it would stop him from investigating? How naïve!

Just then, Fei Shi continued:

Adamantine Sealing Chains!

Sharingan!

Byakugan!" he finished.

Shimura Danzo was horrified. W-what kind of monster was this? All the famous Kekkei Genkai in the Ninja World were gathered in one person! Why did the heavens favor him so much? Why?!

Hiruzen Sarutobi was shocked too. He'd thought what he'd seen during the day was all the boy had, but it turned out he'd been hiding something else. Still, he'd revealed it now, so he might well have another trick up his sleeve. He always kept something in reserve, making him impossible to read. That was a fine quality in an ally.

The two elders who had been listening outside came in at the commotion. They saw Fei Shi with chains wrapped around both arms, five Wood Clones behind him, one eye turned into a Sharingan and the other into a Byakugan. They didn't know what to say.

Seeing everyone gaping at him, Fei Shi took out a letter and handed it to the Third Hokage. Hiruzen Sarutobi finished reading it and passed it to Shimura Danzo.

Danzo took the letter and read it carefully. His face turned livid. The other two elders came over and read it as well, their expressions just as grim.

The letter gave an outline of Fei Shi's background and said that he would be settling in Konoha. It also said that she hoped her younger brother wouldn't be mistreated in Konoha and warned them not to lay a hand on Fei Shi. She had given him their grandfather's keepsake to show how important he was to her. The letter's sharp wording left no room for courtesy.

Shimura Danzo said, "Hmph! Your student has more and more contempt for us elders, Hiruzen! Since he's settling in Konoha, he has to contribute to the village as a ninja! Look at what she wrote in that letter: don't send him on missions. Then why should we let him freeload in Konoha?"

As Danzo barked, Hiruzen and Fei Shi calmly lit their pipes and cigarettes and said:

"Because he/I donated five hundred million."

Hiruzen and Fei Shi spoke at the same time from where they sat facing each other. As he spoke, Hiruzen said to Fei Shi, "You're too young to smoke."

"I can't hear you. Blah, blah, blah."

The corners of Hiruzen's and the other three elders' mouths twitched.

Wait! The three elders finally reacted. Five hundred million? This child? Even Tsunade couldn't have that much money. Where had a child gotten so much?

"Heh. Hiruzen, there's no need to go that far just to protect this child. We're not senile yet."

Utatane Koharu immediately challenged him.

Hiruzen told them about what had happened between Tsunade and Fei Shi while they were away.

"Heh, sorry, everyone. Tsunade and I are worth tens of billions combined. And I'll pay for my food and lodging in Konoha. I'm not short on money."

This isn't about money, you know!

The three elders' faces grew even more livid. Two of them were offended by Tsunade's letter. Danzo, meanwhile, wanted the child for himself. If he couldn't have him, he'd have to eliminate him.
