Background

Konoha was jointly established by the Senju and Uchiha clans, whose alliance helped create the ninja-village system followed by the other great nations. The village’s early promise of peace fractured when Uchiha Madara departed; the remaining Uchiha chose to remain in Konoha rather than return to war. 72 107

Over time, the Uchiha were relocated within the village repeatedly and became identified chiefly with the Konoha Military Police Force, despite their status as co-founders and one of Konoha’s historically strongest clans. 31

Public Perception of the Uchiha

Konoha’s civilians once viewed the Uchiha as arrogant and cold-hearted, in part because the clan primarily operated inside the village rather than on visible external missions. 189

After the Uchiha defeat Sunagakure’s forces, Iwagakure forces, and Hanzo of the Salamander, villagers gather at Konoha’s gates to welcome them as heroes. The village entrance is marked with a flaming Uchiha crest, and civilians carry Uchiha-emblem flags and lanterns. 189

The clan’s later memorial service further improves its reputation among civilians, who recognize the Uchiha’s losses and their Military Police Force’s role in public order. 214
