"The shogunate's approach seems rather extreme," Ranpa said, watching the scene with a sigh.
"But... it's certainly efficient."
Ranpa and Dan Heng stayed on campus, watching as the Hound Unit spent a full three hours confiscating contraband monkeys.
A huge cage stood in the middle of the square.
Every moving, vacant-eyed Sleepy Banana Monkey "doll" had been locked inside.
Dan Heng walked over and warned the Hound squad leader on patrol:
"Officer, these monkeys were probably once people. Please treat them well."
"Hm?" The squad leader turned and glanced at Dan Heng.
"The Emperor told us that already."
"Don't worry. Once we catch the culprit, these people will be safe."
"Understood." Dan Heng nodded and tactfully left.
Under the ban, all of Penacony was on lockdown. Anything connected to monkeys was seized, down to the last strand of monkey fur.
Dan Heng and Ranpa remained on campus, helping the Hound officers patrol for anything they might have missed.
"Hm? Flying Dragon Ninja, where are those students going in such a crowd?"
Ranpa pointed toward a group of students sneaking down a distant path.
"..." After a moment's silence, Dan Heng headed over first. "I hope we're imagining things."
Following the students, Dan Heng and Ranpa found themselves at another classroom building.
The students entered an elevator and went up.
"Let's go up too." Dan Heng took the stairs.
On the fourth-floor landing, a strip of banana peel caught Dan Heng's eye.
"..."
Trusting their instincts, the two eventually found their way to a large classroom.
"Banana, banana-na!"
Through the window, they saw a crowd of students cautiously attending class.
Their teacher was a tyrannosaurus from the Dreamy Ensemble with a monkey's face.
"Failing grade, failing grade-na."
Through the window, Dan Heng saw the Harmonious Banana Teacher shake its head.
