Background
Qian Daoliu serves as Spirit Hall's Great Enshrined and is responsible for the Qian Clan's Angel God heritage. He presides over the Angel Statue and knows that the Angel God's divine inheritance remains deep within Douluo Hall. He also understands that an Angel Nine Trials recipient can become the Angel God, while an eight-trial recipient would become the next Great Enshrined 109 110.
Before Qian Cheng's return, Qian Daoliu approved nine-year-old Qian Renxue's proposed undercover mission in the Heaven Dou Empire, intending to seek ancestral approval afterward. Golden Crocodile Douluo openly questioned his judgment 2. Qian Cheng later condemned this decision, particularly Qian Daoliu's arrangement of two hundred-year spirit rings for a child with Rank 20 Innate Soul Power 3.
Following Qian Xunji's death at Tang Hao's hands, Qian Daoliu issued demands for an explanation rather than immediately retaliating. He had made an oath with Tang Chen never to enter the Clear Sky Sect, a restraint Qian Cheng considered cowardly and unacceptable 3. He also failed to recognize the Clear Sky Hammer relief on Spirit City's wall as a public reminder of his son's death, leading Qian Cheng to destroy the relief and punish him again 4.
Qian Cheng's revival fundamentally changes Qian Daoliu's position. Though repeatedly humiliated and disciplined by his ancestor, Qian Daoliu defers to Qian Cheng's authority and ultimately benefits from his guidance. He later grows more decisive, rejects Bo Saixi's presumed authority over him, and fights openly for Spirit Hall 14 144.
Appearance
Qian Daoliu is an elderly, white-haired man whose usual bearing is solemn and authoritative. He commonly wears white or sacred white robes befitting the Great Enshrined and Angel God's Divine Servant 2 143.
- Long white hair and beard.
- Sacred white robes associated with his Angel God lineage.
- Following his ascension, his snow-white hair turns pale gold 211.
- Wields golden divine power and manifests golden sword radiance in battle 212 213.
Personality
Early in the story, Qian Daoliu is hesitant, guilt-ridden, and overly restrained by his oath to Tang Chen. He permits Qian Renxue's dangerous mission, fails to avenge Qian Xunji, and repeatedly accepts Qian Cheng's criticism rather than resisting it 2 3 12.
He nevertheless takes pride in Qian Renxue's talent and remains deeply invested in the Qian Clan's divine legacy. His excitement at her Angel Nine Trials reveals both his devotion to the Angel God and his hope that she will surpass him 3 110.
After accepting Qian Cheng's influence, he becomes colder, more strategic, and less bound by old principles. Against Tang Chen, he refuses a direct contest and uses distance, battlefield control, and targeted disruption to nullify the Clear Sky Hammer's advantages 210. In the First Timeline, his outlook becomes openly ruthless: he rejects “mental self-consumption” and argues that unresolved threats should simply be eliminated 312 313.

Relationships

- Qian Renxue — His biological granddaughter. He approved her early undercover plan, takes great pride in her talent, and personally guides her understanding of the Angel God inheritance 2 109 110.
- Qian Xunji — His son. Qian Xunji's death at Tang Hao's hands becomes the central cause of Qian Cheng's criticism of Qian Daoliu's restraint 3 4.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Qian Cheng's Return
Qian Daoliu discovers Qian Cheng in the Qian Clan's Ancestral Hall and initially treats him as an intruder. Qian Cheng's aura forces both Qian Daoliu and Golden Crocodile Douluo to their knees, confirming his identity and overwhelming strength 2.
Qian Cheng then publicly exposes Qian Daoliu's failures: his inaction over Qian Xunji's death, mishandling of Qian Renxue's cultivation, poor administration, and tolerance of the Clear Sky Sect's symbol in Spirit City 3 4 6.
Clear Sky Sect Conflict
Qian Daoliu's oath to Tang Chen prevents him from personally entering the Clear Sky Sect, but Qian Cheng exploits the distinction between Qian Daoliu's promise and Spirit Hall's actions. The Hall proceeds with the plan to destroy the sect while Qian Daoliu maintains that he himself never broke the agreement 14 204.
When Tang Chen confronts Spirit Hall, Qian Daoliu dismisses his accusations over Ah Yin and the destruction of the Clear Sky Sect. He later frustrates Tang Chen by refusing close combat and eventually ascends to godhood during their battle 204 210 211.
Sea God Island Retaliation
After Sea Dragon Douluo and Seahorse Douluo provoke Spirit Hall and demand his appearance, Qian Daoliu personally retaliates. He tortures and kills both intruders, then joins Spirit Hall's campaign against Sea God Island 135 139.
At Sea God Island, he rejects Bo Saixi's demand that he restrain Spirit Hall, slaps her, and later severs her right arm in their battle 144 157.
Angel God Ascension
Qian Daoliu's faith collapses after learning that the Angel God had long fallen. Qian Cheng gives him a new conviction: because a Qian ancestor became a god, Qian Daoliu can do the same 136 211.
During his battle with Tang Chen, he destroys his nine spirit rings and absorbs their power, transforming into the Angel God. He then uses purification and superior swordsmanship to overwhelm Tang Chen's borrowed Asura God Power 211 212 213.
First Timeline Arrival
A First Timeline version of Qian Daoliu later arrives as the Angel God. Unlike his earlier self, he is openly freedom-loving, ruthless, and dismissive of old oaths 312.
He kills Tang Tian, devastates Clear Sky Sect disciples with golden swords, and declares that those who reject “virtue” and “reason” may discuss them with the blades bearing those names 313. He later returns from visiting Bo Saixi with a defeated Tang Chen, whom he nails to Jialing Pass's wall with golden swords 338.
