The Z Sword

Following Shin as he flew ahead, Kast glanced at Laila beside him but said nothing.

Laila noticed Kast's gaze and turned to him with a puzzled look.

"What is it?"

Kast didn't answer, simply turning his gaze away.

Seeing Kast look away without responding, Laila spoke up.

"Are you wondering why I came back here?"

"..."

Kast didn't deny it. He remained silent.

But when Kast continued to say nothing, Laila hurried to explain.

"Don't get the wrong idea. I originally came here just so I could easily find you after you broke through. But as you may have guessed, just as Shin said, I need your help to defeat Majin Buu."

"For all these years, we haven't found anyone capable of it. Then I met you, so I told Shin about you. But I didn't expect him to learn how to break through his limits from you instead. So I had him contact you."

Watching Laila hastily explain, Kast replied in a calm voice.

"I didn't misunderstand. You don't need to explain."

Though Laila had explained it that way, Kast knew there was probably another reason hidden in her heart. But that was her personal secret, and he neither wanted nor needed to know.

Soon, the Supreme Kai reached their destination.

"We're here."

The Supreme Kai stopped in midair. Ahead of them stood a raised platform.

"Is that the Z Sword?"

Laila, who had arrived beside Shin with Kast, looked toward the distant platform and asked with some uncertainty.

"Yes."

Shin nodded, then descended onto the platform.

As Shin landed, the others followed him onto it.

Shin pointed to the divine sword planted in the earth at the center.

"This is the Z Sword, the most powerful divine sword in the Supreme Kai World."

As he spoke, Shin walked over to Kast and invited him,

"Mr. Kast, this is what can help you break through your limits. Come, pull it out, and you'll gain the Z Sword's incredible power!"

Having finished, Shin stepped aside and gestured invitingly.

Kast only stared at the sword in silence.

He knew the Z Sword well and was fully aware of its abilities. Apart from being incredibly heavy, its greatest value was probably that it had the Old Kai sealed inside.

Other than those two traits, the sword had no supposed ability to help someone break through their limits. Though that wasn't entirely true—the Old Kai inside really did have the ability to help people break through their limits.

Standing before the Z Sword, Kast looked at it with a helpless feeling.

He'd already suspected it might be this thing, but he'd still held out hope that it could be something else.

He hadn't expected it to really be this...

Beside him, Laila watched as Kast stared at the sword without moving and grew anxious.

"What's wrong, Kast? Pull out the Z Sword and see if it can help you break through your limits."

At Laila's urging, Kibito spoke up as well.

"None of the Supreme Kais throughout history have ever managed to pull out the Z Sword. I'm curious to see what it looks like and what it can do."

The Supreme Kai beside him nodded, clearly sharing his feelings.

Seeing their hopeful expressions, Kast reached out and took hold of the Z Sword with both hands.

He tightened his grip and grunted. A surge of yellow energy burst from his body.

The energy unleashed a powerful gust of wind that swept in every direction.

"A-amazing!"

Feeling the immense power, the Supreme Kai's expression changed in astonishment.

Like the Supreme Kai, Kibito was also stunned. Kast hadn't transformed into a Super Saiyan, yet his energy felt even stronger than when Kibito had seen him as a Super Saiyan before.

"What's going on? He's even stronger than before!?"

Compared with the two of them, Laila was much calmer. After all, she knew Kast's true strength.

Seeing Kibito's surprise, Laila explained,

"Kibito, when you saw Kast before, he was transformed into a Super Saiyan, but he was suppressing his energy. That's why he seemed weaker than he does now. In reality, a Super Saiyan's power is far beyond what you can imagine."

Hearing Laila's explanation, Kibito looked enlightened.

Kibito had already been a little puzzled. He hadn't sensed how powerful Kast was the last time they met, and had even doubted him then. If Kast hadn't glared at him afterward, showing him just how immense his hidden power was and putting his doubts to rest, Kibito would have treated him with even less respect.
