Late night in West City.
Vegeta watched Bulma resting her head on his arm, gently pulling the blanket back over her after she had kicked it off. He drifted into a deep sleep as well; after all, he hadn't rested properly in a long time. Ever since his battle with Kakarot, he had been consumed by the need to increase his combat power, the heavy pressure of Frieza weighing constantly on his heart.
The next day, the two rose, washed up, and went about their separate business.
Vegeta was in the backyard performing simple warm-up exercises when Mrs. Briefs walked toward him, holding a cup of coffee.
"Oh my, you must be Bulma's little boyfriend. You really are handsome. I almost want to ask you out on a date myself..." Mrs. Briefs laughed.
"Cough, cough... Hello, ma'am. I am indeed Bulma's boyfriend. Aren't you afraid she'll get angry if you say things like that?" Vegeta said, feeling awkward.
Looking at this woman who still possessed such charm, he couldn't help but wonder why someone so beautiful had married that old man, Dr. Briefs.
Recalling the original story, although it wasn't explicitly mentioned, her bloodline seemed unusual. Both she and Bulma seemed to possess a long-lasting youth; even though they were nearly fifty, they looked like beautiful girls in their twenties.
"Hehe, never mind her. She isn't here right now anyway!" Bulma's mother giggled.
"Cough, cough... I have things to attend to. I'll be going now, bye-bye." Vegeta fled in a fluster.
Returning to the workshop and seeing Bulma and Dr. Briefs busy at work, Vegeta walked over and asked, "Bulma, why is your mother like that?"
Bulma replied nonchalantly, "What, did she tease you? Did you like it?"
Vegeta felt incredibly awkward. "How could I..."
Dr. Briefs explained, "Don't worry, she's just a flirt; I'm used to it. She can't help but tease any handsome man she sees! Back in my day, I was an even bigger hunk than you! Now, I'm just old!" He puffed on his cigar, a look of happiness crossing his face.
He then added, "Bulma inherited quite a few of her habits, so you'd better keep a close eye on her!"
"Dad, I did not..." Bulma snapped.
"Don't forget, you were the one who built the Dragon Radar and ran off to find the Dragon Balls to make a wish!" Dr. Briefs noted.
"Dad, Vegeta is still here. Can you not bring up my embarrassing moments?" Bulma shouted loudly.
"Doctor, tell me, what was her wish? It wouldn't happen to be finding a handsome boyfriend, would it?" Vegeta asked, knowing the answer.
"Oh ho, how do you know that? Did she tell you?" Dr. Briefs played along with Vegeta.
Bulma was so embarrassed by the two of them that she couldn't show her face. She stomped off in a huff, muttering, "I hate you both! Two jerks mocking me together!"
The two men burst into laughter.
Returning to the main topic, Dr. Briefs said to Vegeta, "Vegeta, I went out yesterday and found the spaceship Goku used when he was a child. I used the alien materials inside to build a Gravity Chamber that can reach 1,000 times gravity. Go give it a try and see if it meets your requirements!"
"What? A Gravity Chamber? It's already finished?" Vegeta said excitedly. As he spoke, he headed toward the room Dr. Briefs had pointed out.
Upon entering, he saw it looked much like the one in the animation.
The room was square with a rounded ceiling, and a sturdy, circular control pillar stood in the center.
He walked to the control display and looked at the current setting (1x gravity).
He pressed the button to increase the intensity, and the multiplier soared, reaching 300x in a short time. He stopped there. As he stepped to the side, a powerful pressure instantly bore down on his body like Mount Tai, making it difficult even to stand. Yet, the blood in his body surged and boiled incessantly.
He could clearly feel his body under pressure, causing his combat power to rise slowly.
Feeling his strength increasing, he was ecstatic. He could finally improve again!
He slowly sat cross-legged and activated the footage Mr. Popo had transmitted to him, training his body and mind simultaneously.
The images in his mind left him astonished! He saw Planet Sadala before its destruction, with Saiyans everywhere! There were even those with golden hair—the Super Saiyans—and others radiating divine power with red hair: Super Saiyan God.
The scene shifted to the grand hall at the center of the planet. A massive figure sat there, his hair longer than Raditz's! Even though it was just a recording, Vegeta could feel a powerful, tyrannical aura permeating the hall.
A subordinate Saiyan said respectfully, "Great King Yamoshi! Our First Division has conquered the entire South Galaxy!"
"Good. Next, have them advance toward the West Galaxy. If there are powerful enemies, send the Super Saiyans of our race to provide support! We need to train our troops, but I will not tolerate too many casualties!" Yamoshi commanded.
"Once we conquer the entire universe, we shall launch an assault on the gods! Those wretched gods, daring to command me. Once I break through to Super Saiyan 5, that will be the day of your demise!" he added viciously.
Suddenly, his body uncontrollably transformed into the Super Saiyan 4 state, with red hair and a body covered in red fur! It was similar to the fused Vegito from GT, having reached the limit of Super Saiyan 4! The tyrannical and terrifying aura was so intense that the subordinates below were forced to their knees.
Just then, the image cut off abruptly. It was over... he couldn't see the rest; it was sealed. Vegeta gasped for air, terrified. He couldn't withstand the pressure of Super Saiyan 4 yet! No wonder Mr. Popo had sealed the later footage; if he had kept watching, his brain would have exploded!
"So that's how it is. The 'atavism' Mr. Popo spoke of must be the path to transforming the Saiyan bloodline and fully unlocking its potential! Super Saiyan 4 appeared in the GT timeline, but it was nowhere near as powerful as Yamoshi. I can feel that the Yamoshi in this recording could kill the likes of Frieza or Cell with a casual flick of his finger in his base form," Vegeta muttered to himself.
Time passed slowly. In the blink of an eye, two months had gone by...
