"You never said you wanted to keep playing forever," Rumsshi laughed heartily.
Vermoud didn't know what to say.
After a brief silence.
"If you don't want to play, that's fine too. Why don't the two of us have a match?" Vermoud huffed.
"Are you sure?" Rumsshi let out a cold snort. "You want to fight here? Aren't you afraid of shattering your own universe?"
Vermoud: "..."
"By the way, how do you want to play? Let's hear it," Vegeta suddenly asked.
"How about you fight Jiren?" Vermoud's eyes lit up the moment he heard Vegeta speak, and he immediately perked up.
"And then?" Vegeta asked with a smile.
"If Jiren loses, I'll work in Universe 10 for another 900 years, making it a total of 1,000 years," Vermoud said. "Of course, if Rumsshi loses, he has to work in our universe for 1,000 years."
"Are you joking?" Vegeta laughed. "Lord Rumsshi has already won 100 years. If he loses, he has to work for you for 1,000 years? Did you learn math from a gym teacher?"
Vermoud: "..."
"Kid, how are you talking to me? You're just an Apprentice God of Destruction, how dare you be so insolent to a formal God of Destruction!" Vermoud flew into a rage and struck out at Vegeta with his palm.
"Smack!"
Rumsshi raised his large hand and blocked Vermoud's attack.
"Vermoud, don't go too far!" Rumsshi snorted. "If you want to fight, I'll keep you company. If you dare bully my apprentice, I'll beat the crap out of yours."
Toppo: "..."
Toppo stood to the side, silently wiping away sweat.
Am I catching strays here too?
"The correct wager should be this," Vegeta replied. "If I accidentally lose, then the previous 100 years are simply cancelled. That would be fair."
"You... what did you say?" Rumsshi roared.
So if I win, I only get 100 years?
But if I lose, I have to pay 1,000 years?
This kid is truly shameless.
"Or we can just forget it," Vegeta continued.
"Yeah, let's just forget it," Rumsshi secretly gave Vegeta a thumbs up.
Good thing this kid is quick on his feet.
Otherwise, I almost got roped in by this guy Vermoud.
I've already won 100 years.
If I compete against you again and lose, I have to cough up 1,000 years?
That's not worth it at all.
Thank goodness I didn't agree to it.
"Vermoud, you should think it over carefully. If it doesn't work out, let's just drop it," Rumsshi chuckled, his tusks gleaming with triumph.
"How about this: if I win, you only owe me 100 years," Vermoud gritted his teeth and said to Rumsshi. "If I lose, I owe you 1,000 years! That should be fair, right?"
"Vegeta, what do you think?" Rumsshi decided to ask Vegeta first.
After all, Vegeta was the one who would be doing the fighting.
If Vegeta wasn't confident in winning...
Then there was no point in gambling.
It would be better to just take the 100 years and call it a day.
There was no need to butt heads with Vermoud.
Rumsshi understood the principle of quitting while ahead very well.
"No, because I'm not confident I can win," Vegeta replied. "So there's no need for us to take the risk."
Vermoud: "..."
Vermoud felt like his whole world was falling apart.
This kid has a lot of self-awareness!
He actually knows he might not be a match for Jiren.
This is going to be difficult.
"You're absolutely right, Vegeta," Rumsshi laughed heartily.
This kid has a bright future.
He knows not to compete when he isn't the opponent's match.
He knows how to bend and stretch.
"Then let's get out of here quickly." Rumsshi grabbed Vegeta and prepared to slip away, not forgetting to throw a parting shot over his shoulder, "Vermoud, 100 years! Don't you forget it!"
Vermoud was trembling all over with rage.
That bastard.
This cannot end like this.
"How about 1,000 years instead?" Vermoud gritted his teeth. "If you lose, we just cancel the 100 years I owe you! If I lose, I'll work for you for another 1,000 years! That's a fair deal, right? If you lose, you don't lose anything at all!"
Rumsshi immediately looked at Vegeta.
"Why not? Give it a try? He's right," Vegeta said with a smile. "We don't lose anything if we lose anyway."
"You're right, at worst we just lose those 100 years," Rumsshi mused.
"If I happen to win, you'll have someone working for you for 1,000 years," Vegeta said.
"Fantastic! I can just kick back and relax for those 1,000 years." Rumsshi was thrilled, then asked, "Do you actually have any confidence?"
"Not much, but it's worth a shot," Vegeta pondered.
"If you're not sure, let's just forget it. I think 100 years is fine," Rumsshi muttered.
"No, what I meant was that I'm not sure I can win with my hands in my pockets," Vegeta replied.
Rumsshi: "..."
So that's how it is... you're actually very confident.
"Then take your hands out!" Rumsshi commanded.
"Can't do that. If I'm going to show off, I'm going to do it big, and I'll make sure you get to show off too," Vegeta argued righteously.
Rumsshi flicked his elephant trunk.
The words sounded good, but they felt strange.
"Then good luck. It doesn't matter if you lose; at worst, we just lose those 100 years," Rumsshi said, patting Vegeta on the shoulder.
"That's all I needed to hear. I'll go have some fun with him," Vegeta said with a grin.
"Well? Rumsshi?" Vermoud noticed the two whispering and feared Rumsshi might just run off.
If you run away, I'll still have to work for you for 100 years.
Hurry up and agree.
"This condition is very favorable for you. You won't get another chance like this if you miss it," Vermoud urged again.
"Fine. Since you insist on competing, I'll play along with you a bit more," Rumsshi grinned and gave a slight nod.
"So you agree?" Vermoud snorted, letting out a small sigh of relief.
"Agreed. Bring out that guy's senior brother," Rumsshi smiled. "Even though he isn't really a senior brother."
"I didn't lie to you!" Vermoud's mouth twitched as he quickly insisted.
"Enough, it doesn't matter if he's a senior brother or not," Rumsshi said indifferently.
"He's here," Vegeta whispered to Rumsshi.
"Whoosh!"
As the words fell, Jiren was seen flying in from the distance, quickly appearing at Vermoud's side.
"Lord Vermoud." Jiren's expression was calm.
"Jiren!" Toppo's eyes lit up, and he scratched his head, saying, "I finally understand... so you're the senior brother Lord Vermoud was talking about."
"What senior brother?" Jiren looked stunned.
