Background / History
Retirement plans
After tens of millions of years as a God of Destruction, Belmod has grown bored with repeatedly destroying planets. He intends to retire within a few decades and considers Toppo nearly ready to succeed him. When Marcarita warns that Toppo would rank near the bottom among the multiverse’s Gods of Destruction, Belmod argues that defeats against stronger gods would accelerate his growth 41 42.
Wagers with Rumsshi
During Rumsshi and Vegeta’s visit to Universe 11, Belmod relies on his universe’s fighters to defeat Vegeta. He persuades Jiren to participate by promising help resurrecting Jiren’s master, but Jiren ultimately concedes. The defeat leaves Belmod owing Rumsshi 1,000 years of work 48 51 52.
Belmod then seeks another contest to cancel his debt. Believing Vegeta has died from his own Destruction Energy, he proposes a match between Apprentice Supreme Kais and brings Dyspo as Universe 11’s representative. His opponent, supposedly named Tarble, is actually Vegeta in disguise 79 80 81.
| Event | Stakes or outcome |
|---|---|
| Jiren concedes | Belmod owes Rumsshi 1,000 years of work 51 52. |
| Dyspo faces “Tarble” | Victory would erase the original debt; defeat would increase Belmod’s obligation to 5,000 years. Dyspo loses 81 82. |
| Toppo faces “Tarble” | Belmod accepts a new wager requiring 10,000 years of work for Universe 10 if Vegeta wins. Toppo is defeated 83 85. |
| Settlement after the explosion | The obligation is reduced by 2,000 years, leaving 8,000 years of planet-destruction work for Rumsshi 87 90. |
| Later cancellation | Rumsshi subsequently states that he cancelled the remaining 8,000 years in exchange for Belmod ending his feud with Vegeta. Belmod does not honor the truce 176. |
After Toppo’s defeat, Belmod realizes that Vegeta and Rumsshi deliberately concealed Vegeta’s strength to lure him into the larger wager. He attacks Vegeta, first openly and then through a surprise palm strike. Rumsshi blocks the first attempt; Vegeta counters the second by using Supreme Kai Kai as leverage 85.
Vegeta retaliates with forcibly fused Angel Power and Destruction Power. The explosion destroys Belmod’s red nose, severs his legs, and leaves him covered in blood. Marcarita heals him, but Vegeta’s regeneration and threat to repeat the attack frighten Belmod into backing down. Toppo is also killed by the explosion and later resurrected by Marcarita 86 87 90.
Zamasu’s defection
Zamasu visits Universe 11 and reveals that Tarble is Vegeta’s transformed disguise. Furious at being deceived, Belmod releases Destruction Energy that erases nearby planets and stars 91.
Zamasu offers to serve him and expresses an ambition to become a God of Destruction. Belmod assigns him a galaxy as a test but privately refuses to trust him: someone who betrayed Universe 10 might also betray Universe 11. He declines to expose Vegeta’s disguise, reasoning that Vegeta and Rumsshi would simply deny the accusation 91.
The test becomes disastrous. Zamasu wipes out the human populations of most inhabited planets in the assigned galaxy, leaving survivors on only three of more than twenty planets. Belmod rejects this indiscriminate slaughter as contrary to his work and fears that a worthless universe could be erased by the Omni-King. Despite his anger, he outwardly praises Zamasu rather than revealing his assessment 118.
Ambush plans and Kai’s capture
Belmod repeatedly orders Marcarita to watch Vegeta, waiting for an opportunity to attack without Rumsshi nearby. Once Vegeta is alone in Universe 7, Belmod travels there while suppressing his Destruction Energy to conceal his approach 117 145 146 151.
Vegeta responds by entering Universe 11’s Sacred World of the Kai and attacking Kai, whose life is linked to Belmod’s. The threat forces Belmod to return. An attendant’s attempt to bring Kai to safety fails when Vegeta intercepts him 151 152 154.
Vegeta seals Kai with the Evil Containment Wave and demands a duel with Belmod in twenty years. Belmod agrees to refrain from destruction in Universe 7 during that interval. When Kai is returned, Belmod swallows the sealed container to keep anyone else from controlling his vulnerable counterpart 155 160.
After freeing Kai, Belmod plans to reverse the tactic: Kai will transport him near Vegeta, then hide inside a Small Bottle kept within Belmod’s body while Belmod defeats and seals Vegeta. This remains a plan rather than a demonstrated sealing feat 165.
Attempt to destroy Earth
Learning that Vegeta is undergoing the Supreme Kai Ascension Ceremony, Belmod considers interrupting it but decides that doing so would only alert his enemy. Instead, he sets out to destroy Earth, where Vegeta’s loved ones live, despite Marcarita’s objections 173 174.
He cannot find Earth or its galaxy at the remembered location. When Rumsshi accuses him of destroying the galaxy, Belmod angrily protests that he never found it—thereby admitting what he had been searching for 174 176.
Vegeta confronts him, fires an insulting blast into his mouth, and challenges him to a one-on-one battle in the World of Void. Belmod accepts after seeking assurance that Rumsshi will not interfere 176 177.
Defeat in the World of Void
Belmod initially outmatches Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 4 combined with the God of Destruction form. Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 4 layered with Super Saiyan God lets him exchange blows more evenly, but Belmod retains a substantial energy advantage 177 178.
At full power, Belmod moves too quickly for Vegeta to react reliably and drives a hand through his body. Vegeta answers with a close-range Royal Bomb, severely damaging Belmod’s waist, thigh, and backside. Belmod consumes a Healing Fruit, restoring his wounds and roughly ninety percent of his Destruction Energy 179.
Vegeta’s Dual Ego transformation reverses the battle. Belmod is unable to defend himself against its speed and strength, suffering a dislocated jaw, a shattered arm, and broken ribs. He survives the transformation’s subsequent explosion only by pushing a defensive shield to its limit 181.
With most of his energy depleted, Belmod tries to eat another Healing Fruit, but Vegeta destroys it. Rumsshi persuades Vegeta not to kill him, explaining that killing a God of Destruction is a grave sin. Vegeta instead uses the God Sealing Wave to imprison him in a Small Bottle made of Pili Pala Steel 182 183.
Imprisonment and release
Inside the bottle, Belmod endures shaking and another Royal Bomb. He consumes his last Healing Fruit and begins recovering while plotting revenge. Vegeta later gives the bottle to Master Roshi and intends to keep Belmod sealed for ten or twenty years while improving his own abilities 183 184 192.
Toppo is forced to perform Universe 11’s destruction duties, and Vegeta subsequently assigns Broly to work there. Broly is not Belmod’s disciple; Belmod only learns of this replacement arrangement from Beerus after Beerus is also imprisoned 192 236 312.
Quitela, Sidra, Gin, and Beerus eventually share Belmod’s confinement. The prisoners discuss cooperating to escape, but competition over who should leave first causes all five to crowd the bottle’s mouth and prevents their departure 254 312 321.
When the Omni-King enters, the prisoners mistake him for Vegeta and attack him in the darkness. Belmod notices that the newcomer is too short to be Vegeta, stops the assault, and illuminates the bottle. After discovering their mistake, the gods kneel in terror and later agree to play hide-and-seek with the Omni-King 321 322.
The Omni-King erases the alternate-dimensional space and its entrance, and the Grand Minister leads the occupants out. Belmod celebrates his freedom, then renews his hostility toward Rumsshi and Helles. With the released gods at only around thirty percent of their peak strength, Hit attacks Belmod using Time Skip 323 324 325.
Appearance
- Clown-like appearance: Vegeta repeatedly refers to him as a clown, and one smoke-producing attack leaves him looking like a blackened clown 87 176.
- Red nose: His nose is blasted away during Vegeta’s fused-energy explosion 86.
- Purple-red aura: His Destruction Energy manifests as a purple-red aura or radiance during flight and combat 177 178 179.
Personality
Belmod is proud, competitive, and particularly resentful of humiliation by someone he regards as a mortal. His desire to escape work debts leads him into increasingly costly wagers, and losing prompts both open aggression and sneak attacks. He repeatedly promises restraint without abandoning his grudge, eventually targeting Vegeta’s loved ones rather than only Vegeta himself 80 85 165 176.
He can nevertheless reason strategically when calm. He distrusts Zamasu’s disloyalty, recognizes the dangers of Vegeta’s fused energy after experiencing it, and envies the friendship between Vegeta and Rumsshi. His stated professional philosophy distinguishes destroying unnecessary planets from slaughtering populations, although his revenge plans against Earth contradict that restraint 90 91 118 173.
Abilities & Skills
Destruction Energy and Hakai
- Erases several nearby planets and stars with Destruction Energy scattered from his hand 91.
- Describes destroying a planet as something he can accomplish with a flick of his finger 42.
- Releases his full God of Destruction Energy to overwhelm Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 4–Super Saiyan God combination 179.
- Uses Hakai against the Small Bottle, but remains confined 192.
Close-quarters combat
- Uses rapid punches, kicks, palm strikes, and positional changes to pressure Vegeta 177 180.
- At full power, moves fast enough that Vegeta’s Ultra Instinct is of little practical use in avoiding his attack 179.
- Maintains a significant stamina advantage during the early stages of their duel. Rumsshi disputes his claim of using only one percent of his energy, estimating ten percent instead 178.
- Is decisively surpassed by Vegeta’s Dual Ego form 181.
Flight and energy control
- Travels to the World of Void as a streak of purple-red light 177.
- Suppresses his Destruction Energy while approaching Vegeta to reduce the risk of detection 151.
- Produces light from his hand to illuminate the Small Bottle’s interior 184 311 321.
Defensive shield
- Raises an energy shield at maximum output to survive the explosion caused by Vegeta’s Dual Ego transformation 181.
Vulnerabilities
- Life link with Kai: Threats against Universe 11’s Supreme Kai endanger Belmod and force him to abandon his pursuit of Vegeta 85 151 152.
- Fused divine energy: Vegeta’s combination of Angel Power and Destruction Power can severely injure him at close range 86 179.
- Energy depletion: Once badly wounded and nearly exhausted, he cannot resist the God Sealing Wave 182 183.
- No demonstrated innate regeneration: His severed legs are restored through Marcarita’s healing, while later injuries require Healing Fruits 87 179 183.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Healing Fruits — Restore injuries and Destruction Energy. One returns him to roughly ninety percent energy during the duel; Vegeta destroys another before he can eat it, and Belmod consumes his last remaining fruit after being sealed 179 182 183.
- Small Bottle for Kai — A container Belmod keeps within his body to prevent enemies from using Kai as leverage. He also incorporates it into his proposed ambush strategy 160 165 184.
- Pili Pala Steel Small Bottle — His prison, not his personal equipment. Vegeta and Rumsshi identify and repair its escape routes before entrusting it to Master Roshi 183 192.
Relationships
- Marcarita — Angel attendant and adviser. She proposes ways to offset his work debt, heals him after the explosion, monitors Vegeta, and urges him not to involve Vegeta’s friends in their feud 52 87 117 173.
- Rumsshi — Rival and wager opponent. Rumsshi helps deceive him, repeatedly blocks his attacks on Vegeta, and later becomes a target of his resentment 81 85 176 325.
- Vegeta — Principal enemy. Their conflict escalates from apprentice contests to ambushes, threats against loved ones, a duel, and Belmod’s prolonged imprisonment 85 173 183 192.
- Kai — Universe 11’s Supreme Kai and life-linked counterpart. Belmod protects him to remove a vulnerability and recruits him to assist with revenge plans 154 165 173.
- Toppo — Apprentice God of Destruction and intended successor. Belmod initially supports his development but later blames his repeated losses for the disastrous wagers 42 85 119.
- Dyspo — Universe 11’s Apprentice Supreme Kai and representative in Belmod’s attempt to cancel his debt. Belmod has Marcarita restore his stamina before the contest 80 81.
- Jiren — Fighter Belmod recruits against Vegeta with a promise to help resurrect his master. Belmod later considers using him in a mortals-only tournament 48 92.
- Zamasu — Defector whose information exposes Vegeta’s disguise. Belmod tests him with a galaxy but distrusts his loyalty and rejects his extermination of its inhabitants 91 118.
- Broly — Vegeta’s appointee performing Universe 11’s destruction work during Belmod’s imprisonment; not Belmod’s disciple 236 312.
- Beerus, Quitela, Sidra, and Gin — Fellow prisoners and prospective escape partners. Their rivalry over departure order undermines their escape attempt 312 321.
