Personality

Champa is impulsive, destructive, and intensely competitive, particularly where Beerus is concerned. He resents Beerus receiving a statue on Planet Fafde, admits to being jealous of the planet’s prosperity, and casually considers destroying it despite enjoying its food. He also dismisses environmental concerns on the grounds that he is a God of Destruction. 4

Food is one of Champa’s strongest motivations. He initially considers taking Vegeta to Universe 6 chiefly if Vegeta can make delicious canned yellow peaches, and his first concern upon Vegeta’s later return is finally tasting them. 10 120

Although easily angered and prone to underestimating opponents, Champa can acknowledge strength when confronted with it. After losing to Vegeta’s Royal Bomb, he honors their agreement despite his resentment. 133 137 138

Planet Fafde Encounter

Champa and Vados arrive on Planet Fafde to sample its cuisine. Champa becomes jealous of the prosperous world and its Beerus statue, then accidentally destroys Cui’s spaceship by throwing a chicken leg at it. 4 5

He watches Vegeta defeat Cui as a Great Ape and is impressed by Vegeta’s efficient use of energy. Champa considers secretly taking Vegeta from Universe 7 and training him into a future God of Destruction while Beerus remains asleep. 8 9

Champa ultimately makes Vegeta’s recruitment conditional on his ability to prepare delicious canned yellow peaches. 10

Vegeta’s Apparent Death and Return

After Rumsshi supposedly destroys Vegeta, Champa is furious at losing both a promising candidate and the canned peaches Vegeta had promised him. He decides against confronting Rumsshi after Vados points out that Rumsshi is stronger. 32

When Vegeta returns years later, Champa is astonished but immediately demands the canned peaches he has waited more than a decade to taste. 120

Tournament Wagers and Defeat

Champa wagers against Rumsshi that Vegeta cannot defeat Hit, only for Vegeta’s Ultra Instinct to overwhelm Hit. The loss initially costs Champa 1,900 years of work. 132 133

Vegeta then challenges Champa directly. Champa accepts terms under which a loss will expand his obligation to 4,900 years and require him to arrange Vegeta’s betrothal to Vados. 134

Champa initially dominates the match, but Vegeta uses Super Saiyan 3, Ultra Ego, and a Royal Bomb infused with Destruction Energy and Angel Power. The attack severs Champa’s arm and wins Vegeta the wager. 135 136 137

Indentured Work and the Beerus Prank

After his defeat, Champa is obligated to work for Rumsshi for 4,900 years. Rumsshi later transfers 3,000 years of Champa’s service to Helles. 138 148

As part of an earlier wager, Champa travels to Beerus Planet, kicks the sleeping Beerus three times, and destroys Beerus’s castle before escaping. 140

Zamasu’s Test

Champa and Vados revive Zamasu, after which Champa learns that Vegeta and Rumsshi had deceived him about Vegeta’s earlier destruction. 145

Interested in gaining a subordinate who could lessen his workload and rival Beerus’s own assistant, Champa tests Zamasu by ordering him to manage a galaxy in Universe 6. 145

Later Conflicts with Vegeta

While serving his sentence, Champa tries to negotiate a reduced workload from Helles through diligent work and massages. Vegeta interrupts, challenges him, and later Champa accidentally kills Vegeta during their clash; fearing punishment for killing a Supreme Kai and Vados’s fiancé, Champa agrees to further work in Universe 11. 198 200

Vegeta later destroys Champa’s castle while Champa is away destroying planets on Belmod’s territory. 205 206

Champa accepts another challenge from Vegeta in the World of Void, but first makes Vegeta sign a Battle Agreement to avoid responsibility for another accidental death. Their fight becomes evenly matched once Champa uses his peak power. 210 215

When Quitela arrives and witnesses Champa struggling against Vegeta, Champa asks Vegeta to deliberately lose so he will not be humiliated before another God of Destruction. Vegeta agrees, and Champa publicly claims victory. 216 217
