"This is impossible! For our Adeptus Mechanicus, merely deciphering its manufacturing process and then replicating it is an incredibly difficult task."
"The cost alone would be astronomical. We don't know what materials this gun is made of, nor its specific craftsmanship. We only have a finished product; trying to reverse-engineer it is extremely difficult."
"You want half of all future profits from this weapon just for providing it? That is simply impossible," a Tech-Priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus said, shaking his head.
Although the Adeptus Mechanicus of Mars had submitted to Emperor, all its members still worshipped the Omnissiah.
Their internal preservation was quite complete; they possessed their own Skitarii and their own Forge Worlds. Emperor had even promised the Adeptus Mechanicus that all Forge Worlds would be under their management.
If the Imperium needed munitions, they had to place orders with the Adeptus Mechanicus; there was no such thing as free supplies.
At most, they provided technical support, and even that came with a fee.
"I haven't finished showing you my items yet! And besides, you Adeptus Mechanicus are responsible for producing that Scouter from earlier, right?" Leman Russ spoke up.
There were also the Saiyan Armors, the Medical Tanks, and the most important highlight of all: the FTL Engine. He hadn't even showcased those yet!
"Great Primarch, we hold you in high regard, but please do not ask for the moon. Once we successfully replicate this weapon, the most we can offer is a 20% discount when your Legion purchases weapons from us," a Tech-Priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus replied.
"Are you joking with me? I give you this item and still have to pay to buy it from you?"
"Why wouldn't I just build a factory myself and produce it? Do you even know what intellectual property is?" Leman Russ retorted.
Axis had taught him this logic, and it was simple: if I teach you how to make a weapon, why should I have to buy it from you?
"All of the Imperium's industry relies on the Adeptus Mechanicus. From a single screw to a Battle Barge, Energy Shields, Void Shields, Warp engines, Geller Fields, and Power Armor—these are all technologies of the Adeptus Mechanicus of Mars," said an Archmagos standing beside Emperor, whose body was 90% mechanically augmented.
"The value of this energy weapon is indeed great. Leman Russ has presented it to the Imperium, and he should certainly be rewarded."
"How about this: the Adeptus Mechanicus will be responsible for deciphering this energy weapon. Once it can be mass-produced, they will establish an armory on the Space Wolves' home world, and all Space Wolves warriors will be able to use this weapon for free."
"Furthermore, the Mechanicus shall forge a custom set of Aquila Pattern Terminator Armor for my son, Leman Russ," Emperor said, waving his hand to finalize the decision.
The Adeptus Mechanicus was indeed a major issue, but the Great Crusade had only just begun, and he had to acquire their technical knowledge.
Therefore, he made some compromises in certain areas—for instance, the Imperial Truth he established stated there were no gods.
Yet, the Adeptus Mechanicus could worship the Omnissiah, and in their eyes, he was merely the avatar or mouthpiece of the Omnissiah himself.
Emperor planned to deal with the problem of the Adeptus Mechanicus only after the Great Crusade was fully completed.
The Great Crusade was merely the first step in his plan to save humanity. Next, he intended to return to Holy Terra to excavate a system that could connect to the ancient Eldar Webway.
He would allow humanity to completely break free from Warp travel and restore, or even surpass, the peak technology from before the Cybernetic Revolt.
Axis nudged Leman Russ from the side and gave him a look. At this stage, even Emperor had to make compromises with the Adeptus Mechanicus, let alone him!
Being able to snatch a piece of meat from their hands was already good enough!
At the current stage, Emperor had to rely on the power of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Being able to make them build an armory on Fenris this time was already quite an achievement.
Besides, he hadn't given them all the energy guns. King Vegeta's private briefcase should contain even better weapons; in the Broly movie, that guy even planned to use a sniper rifle to take out Frieza.
Although he failed, it at least proved that the thing could kill entities with power levels of over several hundred thousand. Any firearm favored by a Saiyan would certainly not be inferior.
The Adeptus Mechanicus must never be allowed to get their hands on this briefcase.
"Russ, if you have any other good things, bring them all out at once!" Emperor said, looking at Leman Russ.
The Scouter was just a small gadget, a piece of reconnaissance equipment. If Warp energy didn't flare up, it couldn't detect much, so its utility was limited. However, this energy gun had actually given Emperor a pleasant surprise.
"What I am showing next is what I am wearing. This is a protective suit; it is extremely light and soft, feeling like wearing a layer of paper."
"But its defensive capabilities are astonishing. It also has a body temperature regulation function, maintaining body heat in any extreme condition, and can even protect against certain types of cosmic radiation." Leman Russ took off his outer coat, revealing the Saiyan Armor underneath.
This protective suit made of special material immediately piqued the interest of Emperor and the Adeptus Mechanicus personnel present. Emperor even stepped forward and reached out to tug at the soft fabric.
It felt like touching a piece of cotton cloth, yet the texture was exceptionally tough. The chest plate and shoulder guards were made of a special material he had never seen before.
"Let us test the defensive capabilities of this suit, then!" Emperor signaled to the Adeptus Custodes nearby.
The Custodians understood immediately, walked over to their chosen comrade, and helped him remove his Aquila Pattern Terminator Armor.
A few minutes later, a Custodian warrior, covered only by the lower-body garment, came before Axis.
Leman Russ nodded at Axis, who understood immediately, took out a combat suit, and handed it to the Custodian guard.
The Custodian easily put on the suit, which was sized for a normal human, and moved his body, performing some extreme stretching exercises.
"How do you feel?" Emperor asked.
"Great Emperor, it feels very comfortable. Although it looks small, I feel nothing while wearing it, and it is very light," the Custodian guard replied.
"Good. You all, test the defensive capabilities of this protective suit," Emperor said with a nod.
Having witnessed the energy gun earlier, he was now slightly interested in this protective suit. He wondered how its defense would hold up.
