Background

Mu En was Shrek Academy's foremost protector and the Sea God Pavilion Master. As the Dragon God Douluo, he was one of humanity's three Ultimate Douluos and had supported Shrek for over two centuries. Before his recovery, wounds from his battle with Du Busi had reduced him to a frail state, leaving him concerned that Shrek would decline after his death. 3 43 219

He devoted his life to securing Shrek's future through its younger generation. Mu En saw exceptional potential in Qiangu Qitian's Coiling Dragon Staff and Innate Full Soul Power, took him as a disciple, and steadily arranged resources, training, and institutional authority around him. 6 21 22

Appearance

Before recovering, Mu En appeared as a frail, hunched elderly man in plain gray clothes who walked with a cane. Following his restoration, he became a mature, handsome middle-aged man with a scholarly air and overwhelming spirit power. 3 45

  • Elderly form carried a cane and wore plain gray clothing. 3
  • His restored form radiated berserk spirit energy powerful enough to make Sea God Island tremble. 45
  • His martial soul is the Bright Sacred Dragon. 19 219

Personality

Mu En is gentle and patient toward Shrek's students, particularly his disciples, but his kindness does not extend to those he considers threats to the academy. He prioritizes Shrek's survival over convention, political pressure, or personal sentiment. 7 120 136

He is deeply protective and forward-thinking. Even while injured, he used his authority to establish Qiangu Qitian as Sea God Pavilion successor and secure the academy's resources for him; after recovering, he pushed reforms in spirit-tool education and elder responsibilities. 21 45 120

Mu En can be ruthless when Shrek's students or future are endangered. He resolves to support Qiangu Qitian's God Trial against any opposition, kills a dissenting Pavilion Elder during the dispute over Tang San, and later oversees Shrek's complete break from Sea God institutions. 136 218 225

Abilities & Skills

Bright Sacred Dragon

Mu En possesses the top-tier Bright Sacred Dragon martial soul, which forms the basis for his light-based combat techniques. 19 219

  • Its phantom manifestation instantly suppresses Scarlet King, allowing Mu En to defeat the fierce beast in moments. 57
  • The martial soul is the proper catalyst for his later self-created techniques, including Dragon Emperor Evil-Breaking Crack and Dragon Emperor Domain-Shaking Realm. 123

Ultimate Light

Mu En converts his light attribute into Ultimate Light after consuming the Bright Nine-Curved Spirit Ginseng. 105 106

  • Enhances his strength by thirty percent and extends his lifespan. 107
  • Gives him a major advantage against darkness-attributed opponents such as Long Xiaoyao. 151
  • Allows him to destroy the curse on the Spirit-Devouring Engraving Knife and reveal its life aura. 43

Reign Over the World

Reign Over the World is Mu En's self-created soul skill, created from the sum of his life's learning. It fuses spiritual and physical force to crush an opponent's body, mentality, and will. 19

  • Its released will manifests to Qiangu Qitian as a charging Bright Sacred Dragon and nearly shatters his fighting spirit. 19
  • Mu En passes the technique directly into Qiangu Qitian's consciousness as part of his training. 19
  • Qiangu Qitian later incorporates its will into his own staff-based abilities. 123

Dragon Emperor Domain-Shaking Realm

A self-created Bright Sacred Dragon technique and a follow-up to Reign Over the World. 123

  • Mu En uses it to pulverize three Holy Spirit Cult Title Douluos after Long Xiaoyao escapes. 161
  • Combined with Ultimate Light, it incapacitates Long Xiaoyao during the conflict with the Holy Spirit Cult. 199

Limit Douluo Combat Ability

Mu En's combat power remains overwhelming even among elite soul masters and soul beasts. 57 161

  • Catches Qiangu Qitian's staff strike, despite its sonic-boom force, with one withered hand. 18
  • Judges that Qiangu Qitian's early explosive power could heavily injure a Soul King or approach a Soul Emperor's full-force strike. 26
  • Captures and cripples the over-thirty-thousand-year Golden-Haired Lion Mastiff, whose raw strength nears that of a hundred-thousand-year soul beast. 48
  • Easily defeats Scarlet King and later threatens to force kills against Scarlet King or Yao Ling if accompanying Qiangu Qitian on a seventh-ring hunt. 57 163

Equipment / Items

  • Hell Demon Dragon right-leg soul bone — Given to Qiangu Qitian as an apprenticeship gift; its Teleportation skill covers a one-hundred-meter radius, though Qiangu Qitian's early cultivation could only sustain roughly three uses. 6
  • Dragon Core — A core condensed from a light-type White Dragon's lifelong essence. Mu En had used it to attain Level 99 and later offered it to Qiangu Qitian for cultivation. 51
  • Clear Sky Hammer — Receives the divine artifact from Qiangu Qitian as a foundation treasure for Shrek Academy. 226

Relationships

  • Yan Shaozhe — Eldest disciple. Mu En criticizes Yan Shaozhe's temperament and stalled progress but continues to guide him and entrust him with academy duties. 11 45 104
  • Ye Guyi — Closing disciple. Mu En rejects Yan Shaozhe as her prospective master, personally accepts her, and recognizes her exceptional Sacred Angel potential. 104 217
  • Zhang Lexuan — Shrek disciple whom Mu En previously manipulated into becoming Beibei's fiancée; he later apologizes and promises not to interfere with her life again. 12
  • Beibei — His great-grandson and descendant. Mu En had originally intended the Dragon Core for him before choosing to offer it to Qiangu Qitian. 21 51
  • Xuanzi — Fellow Shrek powerhouse. Mu En repeatedly presses him to break through to Level 99 and assigns him to guard Shrek when necessary. 45 163 202
  • Long Xiaoyao — Former friend whose suspected fall into darkness troubles Mu En. Mu En initially wishes to give him a chance, but later kills him with regret. 151 200
  • Tang San — Once revered as Shrek's Sea God ancestor. After concluding that Tang San's divine beasts attacked Shrek's students, Mu En severs Shrek's ties to him and abolishes Sea God-related titles. 217 218 225

Story Role / Major Arcs

Taking Qiangu Qitian as a Disciple

Mu En answers Wang Yan's request for guidance and immediately recognizes Qiangu Qitian as a talent capable of becoming Shrek's future pillar. He accepts him as a disciple, gifts him the Hell Demon Dragon right-leg soul bone, and has Xuanzi lead his first soul-ring hunt. 3 6 7

Mu En directly tests Qiangu Qitian's combat potential, teaches him Reign Over the World, and formally names him the next-generation successor of the Sea God Pavilion while ordering that academy resources be prioritized for him. 18 19 21 22

Recovery and Academy Reform

After Qiangu Qitian finds a possible cure, Mu En chooses the rapid recovery method using Gold of Life powder. Restored to peak condition, he mandates spirit-tool studies for all Shrek students, seeks to suppress Ma Xiaotao's evil fire, and orders Xuanzi to pursue a Limit Douluo breakthrough. 43 45

Mu En later reforms Shrek's internal obligations by proposing that elders join the Supervision Group to reduce student casualties, declaring that any elder unwilling to bear responsibility may leave the academy. 120

Supporting Qiangu Qitian's Rise

Mu En supports Qiangu Qitian through increasingly dangerous cultivation milestones, including a hundred-thousand-year sixth soul ring, encounters with the Star Dou Great Forest's fierce beasts, and his eventual God Trial. 55 57 135 136

When Qiangu Qitian proposes founding the Spirit Pagoda and spreading the Soul Spirit System to create his own God position, Mu En chooses his disciple's interests over the Sea God's legacy. He lends Shrek's name, resources, craftsmen, and political influence to the project while insisting that Qiangu Qitian remain connected to Shrek as its future leader. 182 183 187

Breaking with Tang San

After investigating the attack on the Spirit Pagoda, Mu En concludes that Tang San's former divine-beast allies targeted Shrek's students. He calls the final Sea God Pavilion meeting and declares that Shrek must place its students above reverence for the Sea God. 217

Facing opposition, Mu En revokes Tang San's student status, abolishes Sea God Island and Sea God Pavilion titles, and kills a dissenting elder who refuses the decision. 218

With the Shrek Council's support, Mu En dissolves the Shrek Seven Devils title and formally remakes Shrek as a neutral cultivation academy rather than an institution tied to the Sea God. 224 225
