Background / History
The Huang Family is one of Changfeng County's major families and maintains an estate in the inner city. Its wealth is reflected in the estate's gardens, artificial waterways, corridors, and extensive properties. The family recruits fresh blood as martial servants, offering training without tuition, daily medicinal soup, and substantial meals in exchange for service. 17 39
Huang He, the family patriarch, exercises influence over outer-city gangs, including the Black Tiger Gang and Sky Wolf Gang. The family cultivates trusted martial artists and places guards at its properties, herb gardens, pharmacies, and residences. 11 18 39
Before the open family conflict, Huang He manipulated public opinion by distributing porridge to the poor, primarily to preserve the family's image against pressure connected to Blood Ghost and the County Magistrate. 38

Huang–Wang Family Conflict
The Huang Family's struggle with the Wang Family was tied to the wider schemes of County Magistrate Zhang Siyuan. The two families' gangs had previously fought in the outer city, but Lu Li eventually recognized that the family powers were directing the conflict from behind the scenes. 37
The Wang Family launched attacks on Huang properties, taking streets, destroying businesses, and inflicting casualties. Huang He believed the scale of the defeat indicated outside interference, correctly suspecting the County Magistrate. 41
Blood Ghost's intervention prevented a swift Huang Family collapse. He killed Wang Qiang and other Wang Family experts, allowing Huang members to escape encirclements and heavily damaging the Wang side. 42 44
The Huang Family nevertheless suffered major losses in later surprise attacks. At least half of its martial artists died, while seven or eight out of every ten experts were lost. 73
Conflict with the County Magistrate
County Magistrate Zhang Siyuan sought to weaken and control Changfeng County's major families. He manipulated the Huang and Wang Families into exhausting one another, used assassins against the Huang Family, and ultimately coerced the family into joining the campaign against the rebels. 59 66 77
Huang He publicly pressured Zhang Siyuan by presenting captured assassins and demanding justice, forcing the magistrate to yield to the family's demand for an execution. 74
The family later joined other local powers in an attempt to escape the city. Huang He was willing to abandon the family's wealth and ancestral foundation for survival. 90
Collapse and Escape
During the fighting around Changfeng County, Lu Li killed General Zhou and created an opening through which the Huang Family escaped. Only twelve Huang Family survivors remained after the breakout. 94
The survivors were ambushed by the Three Great Killers, forcing Lu Li to reveal his identity as Blood Ghost in order to defend them. 95
Huang He was mortally injured during the final struggle against Zhang Siyuan. Before dying, he placed Huang Rongyue in Lu Li's care and expressed his wish for the Huang Family to become stronger. 101
