Half an hour later, Kanzaki Rin drove the car into the underground parking garage of a high-rise building.
Fang Cheng stepped out of the car with slightly shaky legs, leaning one hand against the door while his heart continued to pound incessantly.
He swore that unless absolutely necessary, he would never ride in this terrifying female driver's car again.
Kanzaki Rin drove as if she were rushing to her own reincarnation, speeding through dense traffic like a dog off its leash.
Even with his immortal body, Fang Cheng was terrified, fearing that one small mistake from Kanzaki Rin would turn them both into a pile of mush.
His precious resurrection count could not be wasted in a place like this.
Kanzaki Rin glanced at Fang Cheng as she stepped out; though she said nothing, the slight curl of her lips clearly mocked him with a "Is that all you've got?"
Fang Cheng took a deep breath to suppress his irritation, having no interest in stooping to the level of this terrifying female driver.
He might still have to ride in her car on the way back tonight.
Kanzaki Rin led Fang Cheng to the elevator in the underground garage, only to find that it required a keycard to operate.
After swiping the card to enter, Fang Cheng discovered that there were actually five levels beneath the underground garage.
This was clearly not a place for ordinary people.
Fang Cheng couldn't help but ask, "What is this place?"
"A training facility belonging to the Disaster Countermeasure Department. The equipment here is quite old and outdated, so it's rarely used," Kanzaki Rin explained, pressing the button for the lowest level.
As the elevator descended, Kanzaki Rin continued, "I've found you an excellent trainer. You'd best keep that trap of yours shut and not offend her."
Fang Cheng asked in surprise, "Aren't you worried about my identity being exposed?"
Only Kanzaki Rin knew of his status as a "vampire," a secret kept from the Disaster Countermeasure Department.
If he underwent long-term training, it would be impossible to hide the fact that his wounds healed rapidly, even if he controlled the recovery speed to its slowest setting.
"Don't worry, this is someone who can be absolutely trusted."
Kanzaki Rin explained, "Your current identity is an intern with self-healing abilities. As long as you don't expose your immortality, you'll be fine. So, try not to get beaten to death."
Fang Cheng was certain that she said that last sentence with a sense of relish.
This woman probably wished he would get beaten to death.
Fang Cheng immediately had a very bad premonition about this so-called trainer.
Exiting the elevator, they found a long, deserted corridor.
The sides of the hallway were partitioned into spacious areas; some were clearly training grounds, while others had their doors tightly shut.
At the end of the hall, a tall woman walked out to meet them, opening her arms toward Kanzaki Rin with a hearty laugh: "Rin, long time no see."
Fang Cheng's first impression of this woman was that she was incredibly tall.
He was currently around 1.75 meters, though his body was still developing and his future potential was terrifyingly high.
Yet, the woman before him was at least 1.9 meters tall, wearing combat boots, camouflage pants, and a black tank top. Her exposed skin was a healthy wheat color, and her muscle definition was extremely sharp. Her pectoral muscles, in particular, were quite exaggerated.
Kanzaki Rin hugged her, then turned to Fang Cheng and said, "Let me introduce you. This is Takeda Masumi. She will be in charge of your special training for the next three days. You two should get acquainted."
Takeda Masumi looked at Fang Cheng, the smile on her face vanishing instantly, replaced by a very blunt expression: "Rin, this is the rookie you think so highly of? He doesn't look like much!"
Both the tone and demeanor of this woman were so overbearing that it made one overlook her beautiful features.
Fang Cheng was annoyed by her tone, but he still reached out his hand: "Hello, I'm Fang Cheng."
Takeda Masumi's lips curled slightly, her look of contempt extremely punchable.
She reached out nonchalantly, gripped Fang Cheng's palm, and suddenly squeezed hard.
Fang Cheng frowned slightly, not because of the pain—he was already used to that.
He was simply curious about this woman's inexplicable hostility toward him.
"That's enough."
Kanzaki Rin stopped Takeda Masumi's actions: "Time is tight, stop playing around."
"Already feeling sorry for him?"
Takeda Masumi teased, then released Fang Cheng's hand: "Follow me."
The three arrived at a boxing ring, and Takeda Masumi tossed a pair of boxing gloves to Fang Cheng.
"I heard you want to learn combat? I only have one training philosophy: live combat."
As she spoke, Takeda Masumi had already put on her gloves, clashing her fists together with a loud thud.
She stared at Fang Cheng: "You still have a chance to quit now. Once training begins, even if I beat you to death, I will never allow you to give up."
Fang Cheng glanced at Kanzaki Rin and found that she had already stepped aside, looking as if she were watching a show.
Fang Cheng didn't retort; he simply took off his cumbersome coat and silently put on the boxing gloves.
Seeing that Fang Cheng didn't say a word despite her provocation, Takeda Masumi spat on the ground: "Pah, coward!"
No sooner had the words left her lips than she saw Fang Cheng climb onto the ring of his own accord.
Fang Cheng stood above, looking down at Takeda Masumi as he beckoned her over: "Today, either you beat me to death, or I beat you to death. Get up here."
A flicker of surprise appeared in Takeda Masumi's eyes, followed immediately by a defiant grin.
"Interesting!"
She vaulted onto the ring, twisting her neck from side to side until it cracked audibly.
"Come on, hit me head-on. Let me see what gives you the confidence to talk such big game."
Fang Cheng took a few deep breaths, then suddenly pushed off with his legs, sprinting forward to launch a straight punch at Takeda Masumi's punchable face.
Takeda Masumi nimbly dodged to the side, evading Fang Cheng's strike.
At the same time, her fist swung from bottom to top, striking Fang Cheng's chin with swift, pinpoint accuracy.
Bang!
Fang Cheng was sent flying, crashing into the ropes before rebounding and slamming heavily onto the floor.
"Is that it?"
Takeda Masumi burst into laughter: "I thought you were something special, but you're just trash who talks big."
Fang Cheng lay on the ground, adjusting to the pain in half his face before scrambling back up to launch another attack at Takeda Masumi.
Takeda Masumi's long legs seemed equipped with springs, bouncing nimbly left and right to easily evade Fang Cheng's attacks, even finding the leisure to critique him while she dodged.
"Your speed is decent, but your intent is too simple and direct. Are you a monkey? Even a monkey isn't as stupid as you. Where did that tough-guy attitude from earlier go? Hit me!"
Fang Cheng tried his best not to let his emotions be swayed by Takeda Masumi's taunts, but his movements grew inevitably impatient.
As a result, Takeda Masumi seized the opening and knocked him to the ground with another punch.
Below the ring, Kanzaki Rin shook her head slightly and turned to leave, having no interest in watching Fang Cheng get abused.
She had asked Takeda Masumi to provide special training for Fang Cheng not out of a desire to see him suffer, but because Takeda Masumi was the only one capable of substantially increasing his combat power within three days.
The prerequisite, however, was surviving Takeda Masumi's inhuman, live-combat style of training.
Over ninety-nine percent of the interns at the Disaster Countermeasure Department who had undergone Takeda Masumi's training ended up in the hospital, which was exactly why she had been assigned to manage this dilapidated training ground.
As she walked away, Kanzaki Rin could still hear Takeda Masumi's roar.
"Don't lie on the ground playing dead! Stand up like a man, hurry up!"
Fang Cheng did not notice Kanzaki Rin's departure, nor would he have cared if he had.
At this moment, his entire attention was captured by a line of text appearing in his field of vision.
