Centralia, or perhaps it should be called Centralia Town, is located in the North American state of Pennsylvania and was established in 1866.

It was originally a mining site that gradually developed into a small coal mining town, home to several thousand people.

In 1962, workers burning waste at an open-pit mine accidentally ignited a vein of anthracite coal. A portion of this massive deposit lay directly beneath the town, and once ignited, the flames were drawn into the nearby veins, eventually triggering a massive underground coal fire.

The fire burned beneath the earth, causing the surface temperature of the town to soar and toxic gases to spew from the ground. Workers and residents were forced to flee, and the entire town was eventually abandoned.

This was the information Fang Cheng had casually gathered online, but it was merely the official record; privately, many rumors circulated about Centralia.

Some legends claimed the fire was not accidentally ignited by workers, but that the mine had inadvertently breached the Gate to Hell, and it was the flames of Hell that had swallowed the town.
