"Big Brother, what do we do now?" On the Flying Nimbus, the brothers watched the Dragon Ball signals on the Dragon Radar.
At that moment, three Dragon Balls had gathered together, and another was moving toward them.
"Draw them out," Wuchen replied after a moment's thought.
"What do you mean, Big Brother?" Goku was confused. What did he mean by "them"? Where was there anyone to draw out?
"If we intercept this Dragon Ball, we'll naturally draw out whoever's behind all this." Wuchen pointed at the moving signal and spoke softly.
The two of them then flew at full speed on the Flying Nimbus, heading straight for the area shown on the radar.
Unexpectedly, the Dragon Ball stopped just as they were about to arrive.
"Down there..." As they passed over a small town, both Goku and Wuchen felt anger well up inside them.
The town below had been reduced to rubble. Craters pocked the ground, and corpses lay scattered everywhere.
The forests and open fields near the town had been burned or bombed, as if someone had wanted to turn the whole landscape upside down.
"The Dragon Ball signal was here earlier." The brothers' faces darkened. The other group searching for the Dragon Balls would stop at nothing!
They picked up speed again. It was as if the Flying Nimbus could sense their feelings; soon, they reached the area shown on the radar.
"It's them!" Below, dozens of armored personnel carriers stood in formation. Hundreds of armed soldiers milled around them, apparently preparing to set up camp.
At the same time, Wuchen sensed three familiar auras. It was the Pilaf Gang. Could they have been responsible for all this? Did they really command such a large force?
"Goku, land over there." Though confident in his own strength, Wuchen wasn't about to underestimate such a massive army. After all, this world had plenty of unusual weapons.
The destruction of the town they'd just passed was proof enough.
"Big Brother, are they the ones who did all this?" Goku gritted his teeth.
"I'm sure they're the ones." Wuchen glanced at the radar and replied with certainty.
"Why would they do this? Just for the Dragon Balls?!" Goku was furious and baffled. Why would anyone do something so awful just to get the Dragon Balls?
Wuchen didn't explain. Instead, he took out a Hoi-Poi Capsule and tossed it to the ground.
Poof! A giant mecha appeared in a cloud of smoke.
It was the mecha they had taken from Pilaf and the others. Its appearance was somewhat different now, with changes to the materials used in key sections.
Numerous inscriptions had also been carved all over the mecha, including inside the cockpit.
Wuchen formed a hand seal, and the inscriptions covering the mecha lit up. Then the unmanned mecha started moving on its own.
It charged toward the camp in the distance, kicking up a cloud of dust. Its approach was impossible to miss.
"Colonel Silver, we've received a report from headquarters!"
"Has that Dragon Ball found us?" Silver, who had been dozing inside a vehicle, perked up with interest. He was a burly man with short red hair.
"Yes. According to headquarters, the signal from that Dragon Ball overlapped with the one we have ten minutes ago, but they couldn't determine its exact location. The margin of error is no more than fifteen kilometers."
"Colonel Silver! We have an emergency!" Another soldier rushed in with a report. "An unidentified mecha is approaching our forces! It looks a lot like the model driven by those three people we captured earlier!"
"One mecha?" Silver could hardly believe his ears, but he immediately gave the order. "Destroy it!"
He didn't give it much thought. Instead, he continued issuing orders. "Go bring those three over."
Soon, three people were brought in: the Pilaf Gang.
"Tell me, how many accomplices do you have? How many Dragon Balls have you found?" Silver calmly lit a cigarette and asked without hurry.
The three Pilaf Gang members exchanged bewildered looks. Accomplices? Theirs?
"Not talking? Your accomplices are already here to rescue you, and one of them might even have a Dragon Ball."
Silver decided to give them a hint. But the three continued to play dumb, which irritated him. He turned to the person standing nearby.
"Take them to see how their accomplice gets destroyed."
The three members of the Pilaf Gang were then taken to the front lines. They were instantly dumbfounded.
"That... really does look like a mecha built by King Pilaf. It's just a little different."
"King Pilaf, aside from Mai and me, do you really have other subordinates?"
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible! There's no way a mecha I built could be this powerful! Otherwise, how could we have been captured and had the Four-Star Ball we'd already gotten taken from us?"
Up ahead, the battlefield was engulfed in smoke and flames. Bullets poured out as if they cost nothing, while cannon shells and rockets exploded one after another!
Yet the mecha was unbelievably nimble, dodging every shell and rocket! The hail of bullets was impossible to avoid, but they couldn't scratch it.
To top it off, the mecha would occasionally toss out a fireball, killing and injuring dozens!
Silver had run over too. He stared at the mecha, which was rampaging through the troops as if they weren't even there, looking like a complete fool.
"What kind of... technology is that?!" Through his binoculars, Silver could clearly see what looked like an invisible barrier around the mecha. Every bullet bounced off before it could get close!
And the mecha's speed was completely out of proportion to its size. The heavy weapons couldn't even get a bead on it!
"Retreat!" Silver made the decision at once. He took the Dragon Ball and drove away, not caring whether the retreat order reached the troops—or what happened to the Pilaf Gang.
"Damn it! Someone's taken the Dragon Ball!" Seeing the Dragon Ball's signal moving rapidly on the radar, Wuchen quickly turned to Goku. "Goku, take the radar and go after them. I'll deal with the rest!"
With that, the brothers split up.
Goku went after the person fleeing with the Dragon Ball, while Wuchen headed straight for the battlefield.
By now, Wuchen's Inscription Mecha had torn through the armored vehicles, and most of the enemy troops had been killed or wounded.
Moving like a phantom, Wuchen used the inscriptions to control the mecha and draw most of the enemy fire. Then he joined the fight himself, taking down the remaining soldiers!
The first people he targeted were the commanders. After that, he went after the soldiers carrying rocket launchers and heavy machine guns.
His assault threw the enemy into complete disarray. Working with the mecha, he quickly finished off the remaining forces. Apart from a small number of soldiers who escaped, the entire army was wiped out!
Wuchen didn't hurry to meet up with Goku. Instead, he chased after someone in another direction and caught three familiar faces!
It was the Pilaf Gang, who had taken advantage of the chaos to escape!
"You again! What do you want?!"
"Don't come any closer!"
