Background
Sun Wuchen was one of two infant Saiyans found abandoned in a valley by Sun Wufan, alongside his younger brother Bu Wukong. Unlike the unruly Wukong, Wuchen was quiet, cooperative, and able to alert Sun Wufan when his brother wandered into danger. Retaining memories from a past life, he learned language and walking unusually quickly and assumed much of the responsibility for caring for Wukong. 2
Sun Wufan initially named him Sun Wutian. Wuchen later asked to be renamed Sun Wuchen because he could not completely abandon the identity of his previous life; Sun Wufan accepted the request. 2
After recurring full-moon incidents left Mount Paozu devastated, Sun Wufan warned the brothers never to leave the house on such nights. Following Sun Wufan's death, Wuchen carved his epitaph and, one year later, began guiding Wukong into cultivation only after judging their bodies old enough to preserve their foundations. 2 3
Wuchen eventually realized that he and Wukong had been transforming into Great Apes under full moons. During the incident at Mount Fry-Pan, he regained his reason, subdued Wukong's berserk state with the Great Heart-Cleansing Technique, and began refining the violent power rooted in his tail and spine. 15 16
Appearance
Wuchen is a tailed Saiyan whose appearance changes substantially with transformation and cultivation. His Great Ape form grows to mountain-like size, while his stabilized golden-haired state gives him curled, willow-like golden hair around his ears. 15 48
- Has a Saiyan tail, whose instability contributes to his full-moon transformations. 16
- Transforms into a massive fur-covered Great Ape under a full moon. 15
- In Golden-Haired Warrior form, his hair turns gold and his aura is greatly amplified. 47
- Maintains a restrained aura in his stabilized golden-haired state, making him feel like an ordinary person. 48
Personality
Wuchen is protective, cautious, and unusually mature for his outward age. From childhood, he watched over Wukong, later making nearly every major decision with his brother's safety and long-term growth in mind. He delays cultivation until their foundations are ready, organizes Wukong's combat experience, and repeatedly warns him against arrogance or carelessness. 2 3 10 11
His past-life memories give him broad knowledge but also make him prone to viewing the world through unfamiliar assumptions; he initially mistakes Master Roshi for a transformed turtle beast and interprets advanced technology as puppet arts. 8 20 He is nevertheless willing to revise his views, recognizing that this world has cultivation paths beyond spiritual energy after witnessing martial artists such as Yamcha and Master Roshi. 11
Wuchen shows compassion tempered by pragmatism. He spares Oolong after confirming the kidnapped girls were unharmed, helps Nam's drought-stricken village beyond merely taking its Dragon Ball, and establishes defenses around Mount Fry-Pan rather than simply pursuing enemies. 10 29 33 He also believes cultivation should be spread for the benefit of the world, while attempting to guide and control that spread responsibly. 20 27 45
Abilities & Skills

Saiyan Transformations
Wuchen's Saiyan physiology grants him multiple transformations, each linked to violent energy, bodily metamorphosis, and ki control. 15 47

- The transformations require a sufficiently strong body and aura to sustain safely. 47 48

- Uses the Kamehameha in sparring with Goku. 26
