Physical training is not merely about exercising the body.
First, the Heaven-Propping Staff must be practiced without interruption to temper the blood and refine the physique.
Second, the violent energy within the body and the altered cells require study. This involves "ki" and the attributes of that "ki."
Finally, a balance must be established between blood, ki, and the violent energy.
"Goku, keep a Senzu Bean in your mouth and raise your ki to the maximum!" Standing opposite Goku, Wuchen shouted across the distance, then raised his own ki to its peak.
Since practice is the only way to gain true knowledge, Wuchen prepared to engage Goku in a no-holds-barred sparring match.
With Senzu Beans as a safety net, the brothers fought without reservation, both unleashing their full power!
The very first collision of their fists caused the air to crackle and boom.
Ignoring this, the two continued their relentless assault, trading blows with fists and feet.
Every move, while not necessarily vicious or underhanded, was heavy; a clean hit would result in injury, whether light or severe.
Whenever they reached their limit, they would chew and swallow the Senzu Bean in their mouths, then immediately return to the fray!
Thus, aside from eating, drinking, and sleeping, the brothers spent every day practicing with the staff and fighting.
A month passed, and when Mr. Popo arrived to replenish their food supplies, the ki of both brothers had increased tremendously.
"What have you two experienced in these two hours?" Mr. Popo asked, stunned as he felt their vastly improved ki while looking at their much more robust physiques.
Even though he knew that for Goku and Wuchen, these two hours were equivalent to a month, such growth in a single month was still unreasonable.
Hearing Mr. Popo, the brothers exchanged a smile. Their improvement was indeed massive, thanks to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and the Senzu Beans gifted by Korin.
However, Wuchen decided not to continue sparring with Goku for a considerable time.
While triggering potential through near-death experiences was an advantage of their constitution, one can have too much of a good thing.
Admittedly, potential relies on innate advantages and determines the floor of one's ability, but it is the accumulation of effort that determines the ceiling.
After Mr. Popo left, Wuchen took out a Hoi-Poi Capsule containing two turtle shells.
The brothers then began weighted training.
The method learned from Master Roshi was cleverly applied within the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
After five more encounters with Mr. Popo, the brothers' surging ki began to stabilize and was well-contained. In contrast, their blood energy remained incredibly vibrant.
During this time, Wuchen also gained a profound realization.
The attribute of ki is independent of all external factors and has nothing to do with strength; it depends solely on one's heart.
Take Goku, for example: his ki is sharp but lacks a cutting edge; he suppresses evil without bullying the weak, and he loves to fight without abusing his martial arts. He is extremely pure, focused solely on becoming stronger.
And it is precisely this purity that the violent energy within their bodies requires.
In other words, the transformation of their cells must be catalyzed by a pure heart and pure ki, regardless of good or evil.
Combined with the physical tempering of the Heaven-Propping Staff and the surging power of their blood, this transformation had been progressing rapidly!
As quantitative changes led to qualitative ones, both brothers felt their bodies on the verge of metamorphosis, needing only one final push!
To that end, Wuchen decided to use a battle to catalyze the combative Goku!
"Come on, Goku!" Wuchen assumed a stance and called out to the battle-hungry Goku.
The battle broke out instantly. The brothers' fists and palms met, and each collision caused the space around them to tremble.
Though they appeared evenly matched, Wuchen held the upper hand. This time, he intended to apply some real pressure to Goku!
In terms of raw ki and strength, the brothers were similar, with Goku perhaps even slightly stronger. But in terms of combat experience, Wuchen had the advantage.
Throughout their fight, Goku's attacks were constantly restricted—either missing or blocked—and he would occasionally take a stray punch, palm strike, or kick.
As the back-and-forth continued, the situation gradually tilted, leaving Goku feeling both pressured and extremely frustrated.
With his internal ki venting outward, Goku achieved an all-around improvement and flew up once more to face the hovering Wuchen!
"Not enough! Still not enough!" Before long, he was kicked down again, crashing into the ground like a meteor!
This completely ignited Goku's stubborn streak.
It was like a small child being held down by an older kid, swinging his fists wildly but unable to land a hit.
Goku shot into the sky again and again, only to be "pressed" back down each time, his temper finally flaring.
"Bang!" Once more, Goku slammed into the ground, and Wuchen followed up with a probing Kamehameha, kicking up a cloud of dust.
This time, Goku did not shoot back into the sky, but the dust cloud refused to dissipate, instead gathering and churning.
"Ah!!!" Goku's roar echoed from within the mist, and his aura surged to an unprecedented height, continuing to climb!
Gradually, a domineering aura vented out, making Wuchen feel slightly uneasy. Goku's ki had increased dozens of times over!
The violent energy within Goku's body had completely erupted!
It was this that unsettled Wuchen. He had suspected as much since the incident at Mount Fry-Pan.
Perhaps his and Goku's constitution was like certain special bloodlines, capable of explosive growth in power by shifting forms!
However, an increase of dozens of times was truly beyond his expectations; if he wasn't careful, it could damage their foundations.
At this moment, Goku's aura was extremely unstable!
Wuchen opened his mouth to call for a halt, but it was already too late.
As the clouds and mist below dispersed, Goku had already undergone a drastic transformation.
His black hair had turned golden, his spiky hair stood on end, and his black pupils were now tinged with a jade hue. A golden aura swirled around his body, causing the very space to tremble!
"Big brother, run! I want to kill you!" Goku's emotions were also spiraling out of control!
"..." Wuchen braced himself as if facing a formidable enemy. His entire aura erupted, and the five elemental attributes of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth converged to his front left, forming a five-colored light barrier. Within it, the dual energies of yin and yang protected his meridians and internal organs!
Yet, before he knew it, Goku had already arrived at his front left and swung a punch.
Crack! The five-colored barrier shattered instantly. This punch landed squarely on Wuchen's face, smashing him downward and sending a ripple through the clouds.
At this moment, the roles of attacker and defender had shifted!
"Leave this place! Quickly!" Goku did not follow up with another strike, but urged him loudly. Though his face showed little emotional fluctuation, he seemed to be suppressing himself with all his might.
"Suppression is inferior to release. Goku, while maintaining your consciousness, vent your anger and battle intent!" Below, Wuchen stood up and slowly rose to the same altitude as Goku.
Behind him, a yin-yang symbol slowly emerged. Simultaneously, the five elemental powers of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth rotated ceaselessly, while the four phenomena of wind, rain, thunder, and lightning mirrored each other on his left and right, making him appear like an immortal descending upon the world.
"But..."
"Do not worry. Your brother still has the strength to protect himself, and I need you to provide some pressure."
While the two brothers were on par regarding the cultivation of ki, Wuchen, being more experienced, had taken a significant step forward in the cultivation of techniques, widening the gap between them.
Facing Goku in his golden-haired warrior form, he still had the strength to fight.
He could feel that although Goku's ki had surged dozens of times over, maintaining this form was a great strain, and he couldn't even unleash half of its true power.
"Ah!" Goku no longer hesitated. With an angry roar, he flashed forward, throwing another simple, unadorned punch directly at Wuchen's face.
As the defensive barrier disintegrated, Wuchen brought his hands together in front of him to catch Goku's fist, but he couldn't withstand the momentum for even a second. The punch drove his own hands into his face, slamming his entire body downward like a smashed badminton shuttlecock.
"Big brother?" Seeing this, Goku's momentum faltered.
"Steady your aura and try to restrain it." Stabilizing his body as he neared the ground, Wuchen cast a Cleansing Heart Mantra at Goku, then immediately condensed another protective barrier and charged back up to meet him.
In this manner, Wuchen went back and forth several times, until his ki and spiritual power were both beginning to wane.
Chewing a Senzu Bean to restore his stamina and ki, then consuming two more medicinal pills to replenish his spiritual power and mental state, Wuchen engaged Goku in battle once again.
During the fight, Wuchen gradually found his rhythm, and Goku slowly steadied his mind, the tyrannical impulses fading away. His control over his own power also became increasingly adept.
It wasn't until his ki was completely exhausted and the golden-haired state dissipated on its own that Goku finally lay on the ground, gasping for air.
"Ha!" At this moment, Wuchen's aura began to erupt!
