Terrified Out of His Wits

Colonel Silver's jaw dropped as he stared at the man before him in disbelief.

The pain in his knuckles made him feel as though he'd punched a block of steel.

How was this possible?

He was a powerful fighter who could take on ten men at once and punch through a sandbag!

With just one punch, Colonel Silver felt a sense of defeat unlike anything he'd ever experienced. His once-unshakable confidence was beginning to crumble.

"Android! This man must be an Android just like the ones Dr. Gero built, with a body forged entirely from Mimic Alloy!"

Colonel Silver instantly found himself an excuse. It wasn't that he was too weak; his opponent wasn't even human!

That thought made Colonel Silver feel much better.

"So what if he's an Android? He's only got a tougher body. With my fighting skills, I've beaten three Androids head-on in the Android data tests!"

Colonel Silver said coldly, "Bring me a sword!"

A soldier hurriedly and respectfully handed him a sharp longsword.

"This sword is made of alloy too. Let's see if your body is tougher, or my blade!"

With that, Colonel Silver leaped into the air and brought his sword down hard on Li Shu's head.

Got it!

Li Shu had finally figured out what to do. There were twenty seconds left on the thirty-second timer. Before the longsword could strike him, he swallowed a [Super Painkiller].

Then the sword came down, cleaving his upper body in two.

"Big brother!" Wukong cried out in horror. A surge of fury shot straight to his head, and he was about to charge over and beat Colonel Silver to a pulp.

Just then, Li Shu's voice came from the mouth on his split-open head.

"Don't panic, Wukong. I just wanted to open his eyes. Even flesh and blood can be as strong as steel."

The bizarre sight left everyone there dumbfounded.

Colonel Silver's jaw practically hit the floor. His eyes bulged as he struggled to believe what he was seeing.

His clearly visible organs were still beating, even split in two, yet not a drop of blood flowed out.

Li Shu smiled while split in half, looking utterly eerie. He casually slapped the stunned Colonel Silver and sent him flying.

Then he yanked the longsword free from his body and tossed it aside. It landed in Colonel Silver's crotch, almost scaring him into wetting himself. His face turned green.

At the same time, under the effects of [Undying Body], Li Shu's split upper body returned to normal, without a trace of injury.

"Take on ten men at once?" Li Shu looked at Colonel Silver with contempt. He raised a hand, and a full moon slowly appeared in his palm. "You little punk, ever seen power like this?"

"Sorcery?" Colonel Silver gaped like a stunned fool. His fragile mind took another blow, and fear of the unknown made him tremble.

"Open fire! Fire!" Colonel Silver shouted. The terrified soldiers snapped out of their daze and pulled their triggers.

A dense hail of bullets rained down on Li Shu and Wukong.

But the sight that followed filled them with even greater terror and despair.

Instead of the enemy being riddled with bullets, two bodies rapidly swelled, growing larger and larger in their eyes.

The bullets struck the two fur-covered bodies with a clanging din, but didn't cause the slightest harm.

They didn't even knock off a single hair.

"Roar!"

"Roar!"

Two enormous Great Apes burst through the roof. Their bodies radiated a savage, frenzied aura. Like demon gods towering between heaven and earth, their enormous eyes gazed indifferently down at the people below, who seemed no bigger than ants.

The soldiers stared at the two colossal beasts, their courage shattered. They fired a few rounds from their rocket launchers, but when they saw that the beasts were unharmed, they scattered in every direction, falling into chaos.

Colonel Silver stared up, his eyes vacant. He was completely dumbfounded. The first time he'd seen an Android, his entire worldview had been shattered. He'd thought the world was simply too absurd.

Now, he'd finally managed to rebuild his worldview and accept this strange new reality—only to see what was happening before him.

A body of flesh and blood that was impervious to blades and bullets, could keep moving after being cleaved in two, and then instantly heal itself? Could any human do that?

And now they'd transformed into towering Great Apes. The sheer ferocity of their presence had already broken through his mental defenses, leaving him with no desire to fight. All he wanted was to escape this terrifying place.

Thinking of his earlier arrogance and overconfidence, he felt overwhelmed by shame and humiliation.

His record of taking on ten men at once had given him plenty to boast about in the Red Ribbon Army. But in front of true power, he was so insignificant and fragile.

His opponent didn't even need to attack. A mere trace of his aura was enough to shatter Colonel Silver's confidence and leave him paralyzed with fear!

Colonel Silver wanted to run, but under the crushing pressure of that savage aura, he was too terrified to move.

"Take on ten men at once?" The Great Ape spoke in a human voice and gave a contemptuous snort. Then he roared, "I'll show you what it means to hold a pass against ten thousand! I alone am enough to wipe out your entire Red Ribbon Army!"

As he roared, Li Shu unleashed the power of [Lion's Roar].

After transforming into a Great Ape, his deep, savage voice, amplified by [Lion's Roar], became a world-ending demonic sound. It seeped into every corner, assaulting everyone's minds and leaving their ears ringing.

"Ah!"

"Ahhh!!"

"Ahhhhh!!!"

The fleeing soldiers covered their ears in agony and collapsed, blood pouring from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths. They writhed and struggled on the ground like maggots.

Colonel Silver was closest to the Great Ape and took the brunt of the attack. His pain was several times worse than the other soldiers'.

Blood seeped not only from his seven orifices but from every pore in his body. After losing so much blood, his face was pale as paper.

His eyes held nothing but terror.

Li Shu didn't go in for the kill. He roared for only a second, then stopped and activated [Inversion Domain].

An invisible ripple spread out in every direction. Li Shu and Wukong instantly reverted from their transformed state to their original forms.

"Big brother?" Wukong stared at Li Shu in surprise. "The Great Ape Transformation just ended?"

"I'll explain later." A trace of disappointment flashed through Li Shu's eyes. Sure enough, he was included in the domain's range too, and couldn't transform either. Even he, the one who'd cast the technique, couldn't avoid its effects.

All of this had seemed to take a long time, but in reality, only about twenty seconds had passed.

"That still wasn't enough to break his resolve?" Li Shu frowned and walked toward the weakened Colonel Silver.

"Don't come any closer!" Colonel Silver stared at him in terror. But he'd lost even the courage to run, and could only scream silently, his expression pleading for mercy.

Only five seconds remained on the mission timer. Li Shu looked down at Colonel Silver, his expression growing darker by the moment.

Had all that effort been for nothing in the end?
