Lei was born into a great noble house with a claim to the throne, though his place in the succession was low. As a child, he admired Vol and wanted to become a ranger who punished evil and upheld justice. His parents and elder brother later died while Lei lay grievously wounded and poisoned, leaving him with lasting trauma and a deep grudge. 57 119

He concealed his identity and strength to live as an adventurer. After a treasure-hunting expedition with a friendly adventuring party ended disastrously because of wish magic, he avenged his fallen companions against the Iron Sand Chamber of Commerce and became a lone thief. While pursuing servants of the Cruel Hunter into the Great Gobi, Lei obtained a crystal containing a trace of the Goddess of Life’s divine power.
