Leon was born into the Eagle Kingdom's royal family. As a youth, he rejected the struggle for the throne in favor of his own ideal: becoming a knight who carried a treasured sword, travelled the world, and defended justice. At fourteen, he entered a knight tournament under an alias and won; veteran knights predicted that he would become the world's greatest knight. 67 275

His uncle, Woods Igor, rebelled against the royal family. Woods believed Leon dead after having him shot and left for dead, but Leon survived and later built a new life under the name Lei. 275 276
