"Soldier: 76 transformation time remaining: 1:30."
With a thunderous boom, the back door of the abandoned factory exploded into a fireball. Amidst the raging flames, William charged out in a Sprint, his Heavy Pulse Rifle gripped firmly in his hands.
"Stop! Don't run!" Many people were chasing him from behind, shouting and firing as they ran. Bullets whistled through the air, some even grazing his scalp.
For the sake of his mission, William had infiltrated the headquarters of the Skull Gang. He had fought his way to the Control Room to uncover their secrets, only to find it already empty. He immediately gave chase, but there were many pursuers along the way.
These pursuers were guards of the Skull Gang, and even though this enemy was far stronger than they had imagined, they did not give up. As long as they captured the archer, they would receive a five-million-dollar reward, dead or alive.
Dozens of guards surrounded William from all sides. Just then, five or six soldiers in black appeared in the distance, walking slowly toward them, leading the Skull Gang to believe they were reinforcements.
But soon, they realized their mistake: these soldiers were not there to help them, but to kill them!
Without the slightest warning, the black-clad soldiers launched an assault. Their weapons were sophisticated and their firepower immense; the ruthless hail of bullets swept through like the scythe of the Grim Reaper.
One by one, members of the Skull Gang fell into pools of blood, and in the blink of an eye, over a dozen were gunned down. The survivors panicked and began to return fire.
Even William came under attack. He scrambled behind cover, but a stray bullet pierced his thigh. Blood gushed out instantly, causing him to wince in pain.
"Ow, ow, ow..."
Soldier: 76 wore body armor and possessed physical attributes far superior to an ordinary person; standard bullets shouldn't have been able to hurt him. It seemed these special forces were not equipped with ordinary weapons, as their firepower was quite ferocious.
Who... exactly were these black-clad soldiers?
After the fierce battle, dozens of corpses lay scattered on the ground—all of them Skull Gang members. Before the well-trained soldiers, they were like lambs among wolves, in a near-total massacre.
"Soldier: 76 transformation time remaining: 1:00."
William glanced at the transformation timer, then at his bleeding thigh. Time was running out.
This was his first time being shot, and his first time bleeding. So this was what it felt like to be hit; so this was how blood loss made the body grow cold. The moment he was struck, his leg had gone numb.
If an ordinary person were hit, they would effectively lose all mobility and could only sit and wait for death. But now, William possessed the powerful Overwatch System.
Soldier: 76's combat prowess in the game was fierce, not only because of the high damage of his pulse bullets, but also because of his sustainability—he could deploy a healing pylon. In other words, he could heal himself!
Biotic Field: Heal yourself. Soldier: 76 can place a Biotic Field on the ground. Its energy can heal Soldier: 76 and nearby teammates.
Note: If the field's pylon is blocked (e.g., by walls, enemy barriers, etc.), you will be unable to heal.
Before he could lose consciousness, William hurriedly tossed a Biotic Field onto the ground. A yellow circle of light appeared beneath his feet, and in the center of the circle, a yellow beam of light rose up.
Standing within the Biotic Field, with cross-shaped light symbols floating around him, he immediately felt a warmth spread through his entire body. The pain in his shot thigh began to subside, the dizziness vanished, and the wound on his leg recovered as if it had never been there; even the bullet was pushed out by the healing tissue.
After clearing out the enemies in front of them, the special forces had been searching for survivors, immediately finishing off anyone they found alive. The beam of the Biotic Field was very conspicuous, which drew their attention.
"There's someone still alive over there, take him out!" The special forces spotted William and began closing in on him.
William leaned against his cover and took a deep breath. These enemies were different from the Skull Gang; they were true killing machines. If he wasn't careful, he might very well die.
Within his field of vision, there was a gray icon that showed it had reached 95%. This was the ultimate ability icon of the Overwatch System.
Every hero in Overwatch possessed their own signature move, or ultimate ability. Unlike standard abilities, ultimate abilities could not be used at will. To unleash an ultimate, one had to first charge its energy gauge to full.
Using standard abilities and basic attacks would accumulate energy, and only when the gauge reached 100% could he unleash his ultimate.
Ever since his transformation into Soldier: 76, he had been accumulating energy for his ultimate. It seemed it was time to let them witness the true power of the Pulse Storm.
Thinking of this, William did not hesitate. He charged out from behind cover, his Heavy Pulse Rifle firing instantly. One enemy was knocked to the ground, and as others opened fire on William, Soldier: 76 performed a roll in place and launched a fierce counterattack!
98%... 99%... 100%!
Tactical Visor activated!
Tactical Visor: Kill your enemies. Soldier: 76's Tactical Visor will enable auto-aim, locking onto hostile targets to fire. While in the ultimate state, bullet damage is increased and reload speed is accelerated.
Note: If an enemy leaves the field of view, the visor will quickly lock onto the next target.
"I've got you in my sights!" The Tactical Visor before William's eyes suddenly glowed red. In his vision, a massive circle appeared, and within its range, all enemies were locked on by the visor.
In an instant, the Heavy Pulse Rifle erupted with blue muzzle flashes. Amidst a roar like a wild beast, a storm of blue light points seemed capable of destroying everything.
One special forces soldier was instantly knocked to the ground; just as he tried to crawl up, a bullet pierced his throat!
Another soldier tried to fight back, but the ferocious pulse bullets shredded his Tactical Rifle, along with his hands.
Yet another soldier tried to flee, but one of his legs was shattered by bullets, and in the blink of an eye, his entire body was engulfed by blue light...
The Pulse Storm was truly terrifying!
Tactical Visor was well-deserving of being Soldier: 76's strongest ability. No one could escape alive from the storm of pulse bullets; even these soldiers were nothing more than moving targets before the Tactical Visor.
Though the special forces were well-equipped, they were riddled with holes by the Tactical Visor. The survivors tried to retreat, but William gave them no chance to escape, and they were ultimately pierced through by the lethal pulse bullets.
"Soldier: 76 transformation time remaining: 0:30."
Having dealt with these soldiers, William continued forward. The map indicated that the Golden Question Mark was in the Parking Lot ahead. He had just run there when he discovered many corpses lying in the lot.
Not far away, he saw the Skull Gang Leader, his face covered in blood, clutching a briefcase with a look of despair. He was surrounded by special forces, and the captain leading them pointed a pistol at him, snarling, "Your mission is complete. Hand over the case now!"
"You devils! I won't give it to you!" the Skull Gang Leader roared hoarsely. "I brought you the briefcase as agreed! Why are you still slaughtering my gang members?"
"Tsk, tsk." The captain said with a look of disdain, "Why do you think we supported the Skull Gang? To us, the Skull Gang was merely a pawn. Now that the pawn is useless, and you know too many secrets, you must die!"
