A mysterious black shadow hung above Earth—it was an interstellar warship.
Inside the warship, a blonde woman was bound and hung upside down. Both her hands were encased in hard metal, preventing her from using her powers.
A group of green-skinned aliens surrounded her. They wanted to read her memories to obtain the intelligence they needed.
Carol Danvers—or rather, Captain Marvel. Of course, she had not yet recovered her memories at this point and still believed her name was Vers.
Thus, amid repeated memory searches, Carol noticed something was wrong. She suddenly opened her eyes and found herself in an alien laboratory.
"Have we obtained any information useful to the operation?" the lead alien asked.
"We only know that Lawson, who was connected to Project Pegasus, should be on Planet C-53," one alien subordinate replied.
"You idiots, aren't we already above Planet C-53?" the leader said impatiently. "Keep digging deeper into her memories. Only by finding Lawson can we uncover clues about the Light-Speed Engine!"
At that moment, the imprisoned Carol broke free of her restraints and charged at the aliens. Even with her hands encased in hard metal, she was still incredibly powerful.
These aliens were no match for her and were knocked to the ground in moments.
She grabbed the lead alien and demanded, "What did you do to me?"
"I only wanted to learn some information."
"What did you put in my head?"
"I merely read your information."
Carol thought of the hallucinations from earlier—those Recall images, those past memories. Yet they did not seem to belong to her. They felt like they belonged to someone else.
Seeing the conflicted look on Carol's face, the alien said, "Looks like those people messed with your head quite a bit. Your memories are a mess. Who exactly are you?"
