Background
Ban Shu was originally an Earthling who transmigrated to the Douluo Continent after collapsing while playing Naruto. Reborn as an infant, he was taken in by Spirit Hall and raised in its orphanage. At age four, he met Bibi Dong; their friendship became his closest bond over the next two years. 1
At six, Ban Shu awakened innate full soul power and an extraordinary martial soul. Its initial manifestation was a black-and-red Painted Halberd, while Ban Shu encountered the consciousness of Divine Steed Ban within his mind. Qian Xunji recognized his potential and accepted him as a personal disciple, granting him Spirit Hall's highest treatment. 2 3
His cultivation repeatedly exceeded ordinary absorption limits. The Painted Halberd assisted him in suppressing surplus soul-ring energy, allowing him to absorb rings from a 700-year Sharp-Feathered Thunder Eagle, a 1,200-year Thunder-Charging Beast, and a 5,000-year Demon-Devouring Mosquito. 9 16 33
During the Wolf Bandit Hunt, Ban Shu discovered that Evil Soul Masters were responsible for the bandits' abnormal behavior. His outrage at their captive villagers and victims triggered the awakening of his Sharingan, though its first use left him mentally exhausted and unconscious. 24 26 27
A mysterious box selected from the Spirit Hall treasury led him to ancient ruins and eventually connected him to the God of Destruction. After the box absorbed his blood, Ban Shu was named the god's successor and received his first divine trial. 30 35 37 38
At the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, he consumed the Infernal Delicate Apricot, Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass, and Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew. His martial soul underwent a second awakening, merging with the Ice and Fire Dragon King Soul Bones and attaining its complete form, the Divine Steed Guardian General. 42 44
Appearance
Ban Shu is introduced as a six-year-old boy. During training, he wears a tight black outfit and carries his Painted Halberd across his back. 13
- His original martial-soul weapon is a black Painted Halberd over two meters long, with crescent-shaped blades, red central patterns, and a red tassel. 2
- When using Thunder Demon, purple lightning wraps around his body and weapon. 9
- After his second awakening, he merges with the Divine Steed Guardian General and manifests armor; the halberd and arm armor are initially solid while much of the armor remains phantom-like. 44
- His Sharingan manifests as blood-red eyes and improves his perception. 27 32
Personality
Ban Shu is unusually composed and mature for his age, a trait noticed by Qian Xunji before his martial-soul awakening. He approaches cultivation with confidence, planning his soul-ring progression and accepting dangerous absorption attempts only when he believes his martial soul can support him. 2 9 14
He is diligent in both theory and martial training, taking extensive notes under Teacher Fang and mastering Li Yan's basic spear techniques within six months. When he recognizes that spear forms do not properly suit his halberd, he resolves to develop his own style rather than remain dependent on unsuitable techniques. 7 13 20
Ban Shu is protective of Bibi Dong and compassionate toward vulnerable people and spirit beasts. He takes responsibility for Red Hare's care, reacts fiercely to the atrocities committed by Evil Soul Masters, and distributes the value of a recovered spirit bone among the Wolf Bandit hunting party rather than keeping it for himself. 17 18 24 28
