Just as Goku was lost in thought, Chi-Chi's voice came from beside him.
"Goku, what are you thinking about?"
"N-nothing!"
Chi-Chi's face reddened a little as she asked softly:
"Are you thinking about something? Did I move you?"
"If you want to thank me, then promise to marry me when we grow up..."
Chi-Chi's little face flushed again.
Goku looked at Chi-Chi's face and suddenly thought of something.
He immediately asked, "Chi-Chi, did you see what kind of fish Launch was cooking just now?"
Chi-Chi snapped out of her blushing daze. She hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Mm, I saw.
When I went inside to get Master Roshi a drink, I saw Launch killing a fish.
Then she sneezed, turned blonde, and chased after me."
"What kind of fish?" Goku asked again.
Chi-Chi looked up at the sky and thought for a moment. "I don't know..."
Son Goku muttered to himself.
Even though the wheels of history had veered off course,
he still remembered Launch's first dinner.
Maybe the meal had been pufferfish.
Goku said, "Then I won't eat dinner either.
I'll go hungry with you tonight!"
Chi-Chi's face lit up.
"Goku, you're actually going to go hungry with me? You're so good to me!"
As she spoke, Chi-Chi rubbed her cheek against Goku's.
Goku smiled faintly. "Chi-Chi, since we're going to share the hardship,
I might as well throw this rock away, right?"
Chi-Chi immediately stopped him. "Don't! It took us ages to find it!
Since neither of us is eating it, why not give it to Krillin?"
Goku didn't think he should trick Krillin, so he said, "I still think we should throw it away."
Just then, Krillin, who had faked finding the rock, was chased out by Master Roshi.
He happened to see Chi-Chi and Goku with Master Roshi's rock.
The two of them were pushing it back and forth.
The rock was still in Son Goku's hands.
A sly grin appeared on Krillin's face.
He came running over with a mischievous look, snatched the rock, and took off.
Goku froze.
"Hey, Krillin, you actually stole my rock!"
"Na-na-na-na-na!" Krillin stuck out his tongue, then ran toward Kame House to turn it in.
Chi-Chi exclaimed angrily, "Honestly, Krillin actually stole your rock.
And after I kindly suggested you give it to him!
Goku, let's catch him tonight and give him a good beating!"
Goku shrugged. "Forget it. Don't be so violent.
We were going to throw it away anyway. It's not worth it."
If it really was pufferfish, Krillin and Master Roshi would both be completely wiped out tonight. That would be far worse than getting beaten up.
Chi-Chi lowered her head and said, "Goku, you're so kind. I'll do whatever you say!"
Soon, dinner was served inside.
Krillin ate the fish Launch had cooked,
occasionally showing off to Son Goku outside the window.
Master Roshi chuckled. "I never would've guessed Launch could cook fish this well!"
Krillin said, "Master Roshi, let me top you up!"
Launch said, "Thanks for the compliment. I bought this fish at the market on the island. It's very fresh."
As Krillin ate, he glanced out the window.
"Too bad Goku and Chi-Chi didn't get to try such delicious fish..."
As they drank past ten o'clock, Master Roshi and Krillin suddenly got stomachaches.
Master Roshi couldn't help asking,
"Launch, what kind of fish is this?"
"Pufferfish..."
Master Roshi and Krillin's faces instantly turned ashen...
Chapter 37: Turtle School Training Begins
The food smelled so delicious inside.
The aroma of fish drifted all around the house.
For people with empty stomachs, it seemed ten times stronger.
Goku and Chi-Chi caught the scent, their appetites stirred, and they grew even hungrier.
Master Roshi and Krillin were eating and drinking inside. They couldn't just leave the two of them watching,
so the two of them went outside to cool off.
Before long, they heard Krillin and Master Roshi fighting over the bathroom inside.
Chi-Chi asked curiously, "What's wrong with them? Why do they keep going to the bathroom?"
"Launch didn't remove all the pufferfish poison. They've got food poisoning!"
Chi-Chi was startled.
"Good thing we didn't eat."

Chi-Chi smiled faintly. "Goku, you know so much."

Having someone nearby who was always ready to praise him was pretty nice.
Still, even without an upset stomach, being hungry was no fun.
The two of them chatted, then Chi-Chi's face suddenly turned red.
Her stomach had just growled loudly.
Goku smiled faintly. "Hungry?"
Chi-Chi blushed and replied softly, "A little!
But still, it's better than having diarrhea."
"That's true!"
Just then, Launch came out carrying two roast chickens.
"You two must be hungry, right?"
The two were startled. "Launch, you..."
Launch held a finger to her lips. "Shh, keep your voices down.
Goku, thanks again for saving me earlier today. I saw what you did.
These two chickens have just finished roasting.
They've both got diarrhea, so it looks like they can't eat them. You two can have them.
One for each of you!"
Goku and Chi-Chi were both delighted.
Chi-Chi said sweetly, "Thank you, Auntie Launch!"
Launch smiled awkwardly. "Just call me big sister."
Chi-Chi immediately corrected herself. "Thank you, big sister!"
Launch smiled warmly. "You're welcome.
Go ahead and eat. If that's not enough, I'll bring you some more food."
Son Goku: "Thanks, Launch!"
The two little ones huddled in a dark corner,
gnawing at the roast chickens with gusto and thoroughly enjoying every bite...
Chi-Chi tore off a drumstick. "Goku, I can't eat a whole chicken. You can have this drumstick!"
"Thanks!"
Chi-Chi said, "Wait, that's weird. Launch was blonde just now.
Why is she so gentle with you?"
Goku said, "I don't know. Who cares? This is delicious!"
Chi-Chi asked, "Goku, does Launch like you?"
Son Goku: "Don't say silly things. She's from a different generation..."
Chi-Chi nodded thoughtfully. "I guess so..."
Sure enough, Master Roshi and Krillin spent the whole night on the toilet.
The next day, they were completely drained and rested for the day.
Launch hadn't eaten any fish the night before, so she was fine.
So the next day, she cooked some other delicious dishes, which smelled wonderful too.
This time, Master Roshi and Krillin weren't lucky enough to enjoy them.
Goku and Chi-Chi, meanwhile, had three delicious meals that day.
A wonderful day passed.
At last, it was time to begin training.
At four-thirty on the third morning, Master Roshi woke Krillin, Goku, and Chi-Chi early.
Facing the dawn, Master Roshi began teaching again after many years away from it.
