As Cheng Yusui searched for the Dark Wing Camp, Cao Yi learned from Ning Jingjing that Commander Beigong was alive and that Sikong Jing intended to move the Dark Wing warriors into the War Soul Dynasty. Cheng Yusui ordered Ning Jingjing and the Sixty-Sixth Legion to attack Gloombrow Prefecture City, and they broke through the War Soul Dynasty’s defenses as night fell.
Cheng Yusui sent Ning Jingjing and the Sixty-Sixth Legion into War Soul Dynasty territory, hoping they would be killed, but Lu Lingun mistook the move for a trap and only sent five hundred thousand troops after them. Sikong Jing joined Ning Jingjing, took command of the mission to capture Gloombrow Prefecture City, and led the legion into an ambush against the pursuers.
Sikong Jing led the Sixty-Sixth Legion in disguising themselves as War Soul soldiers and seizing checkpoints on the road to Gloombrow Prefecture City. After using the Wolf Guards’ aura to enter the city, he claimed the front lines had fallen and prompted the defenders to prepare for an attack.
Sikong Jing led the Sixty-Sixth Legion in a surprise assault that captured Gloombrow Prefecture City, while Cheng Yusui wrongly believed the legion had been destroyed and waited for Sikong Jing to return. After receiving news of the city’s fall, Lu Lingun gathered a million beast-blood warriors to retake it.
Cheng Yusui learned that Ning Jingjing had captured Gloombrow Prefecture City but refused to send immediate aid, claiming it was a trap. The Long Night army teetered on the brink of mutiny and vowed to kill him when they had the chance.
Sikong Jing led Ning Jingjing and the Sixty-Sixth Legion toward the Soul Piercing Mountain Range, drawing two million War Soul pursuers after them so their deaths could be presumed. As the legion entered the range, Sikong Jing revealed that he had arranged a beast tide, just as Xia Dielian suspected he had in the Dark Dragon Mountains.
Sikong Jing used a beast tide in the Soul Piercing Mountain Range to destroy most of the two million pursuers while protecting the Sixty-Sixth Legion. After the surviving pursuers came to confirm the Legion’s deaths, Sikong Jing’s soldiers surrounded them.
Sikong Jing used the beast tide to destroy the two million War Soul pursuers and help the Sixty-Sixth Legion fake its own deaths. Lu Lingun accepted that the Legion had been wiped out and ordered the Long Night Army to be told that his forces had killed them all.
Cheng Yusui announced that Ning Jingjing and the Sixty-Sixth Legion had fallen, while Cao Yi and the deputy commanders suspected Sikong Jing had secretly led the legion into the War Soul Dynasty. In the Long Night Imperial Capital, Mo Ci learned that Sikong Jing had gone there and concluded that he intended to kill her, then demanded to know where the Beigong Clan was.
A month after leaving the eastern side of the Soul Piercing Mountain Range, Sikong Jing reached Soulwatch Prefecture with the Sixty-Sixth Legion and considered taking over Soulfall Road to give his army a base and a reliable identity. The chapter left Sikong Jing and Ning Jingjing preparing to target the Soulfall Bandits while the legion remained inside the mountains.
Sikong Jing planned to use Soulfall Road as a foothold while joining Phantom Soaring Manor’s campaign against the Soulfall Bandits. At Moon-Viewing Tower, he provoked a confrontation with a nobleman’s retinue, and the young master called off Uncle Lu before the fight could escalate.
Sikong Jing and Ning Jingjing faced the Young City Lord of Soulwatch City, who became interested in Ning Jingjing after she called Sikong Jing her Young Master. As they discussed the difficulties of her training, Ning Jingjing learned that Sikong Jing had created the Dark Wing Camp’s cultivation method and asked whether he had also created their combat technique.
Sikong Jing and Ning Jingjing tried to remain in Moon-Viewing Tower for Phantom Soaring Manor’s pre-battle assembly, but Fatty Yan initially ordered them to leave. Sikong Jing revealed that his little black dog was a Dao Martial Realm Night Shadow Mad Wolf, securing their place and prompting Fatty Yan to mistake them for members of the Night Wolf Tribe.
Sikong Jing and Ning Jingjing attended a gathering at Moon-Viewing Tower, where they learned about Gongyang Ying and the forces pursuing her. Phantom Soaring Manor Lord Yan Qihuan arrived and urged the gathered martial factions to unite against the Soulfall Bandits, insisting they could succeed if they followed his orders.
Yan Qihuan revealed that Yan Benxing had entered the Eastern Plains Thousand Tyrants Ranking at rank 289 as a disciple of the Horizontal Blade Sect, and announced that Moon Soul Fairy Gongyang Ying would join the campaign against the Soulfall Bandits. Yan Benxing arrived with Horizontal Blade Sect disciples and ordered everyone in Moon-Viewing Tower to kneel and welcome her.
Sikong Jing checked the new Eastern Plains Thousand Tyrants Ranking and worried that his high placement might reach his sister, Sikong Ling. Gongyang Ying arrived at Moon-Viewing Tower, where Yan Benxing welcomed her with a grand salute that she disliked.
Yan Benxing’s attempt to impress Gongyang Ying collapsed when Sikong Jing and Ning Jingjing appeared at Moon-Viewing Tower, prompting him to attack them. Ning Jingjing fought two Horizontal Blade Sect disciples while Gongyang Ying and Aunt Mian discussed the trouble and possible recruitment of the pair.
Ning Jingjing and Sikong Jing refused to kneel to Gongyang Ying, and Sikong Jing revealed his strength by crushing the Horizontal Blade Sect disciples who attacked him. Yan Benxing challenged Sikong Jing after revealing that he, too, was a Dao Commander Realm cultivator.
Sikong Jing overwhelmed Yan Benxing with his Steel Bone Sky-Soaring Staff, but Yan Qihuan intervened when his grandson was about to lose. Gongyang Ying stopped Yan Qihuan, defended Sikong Jing, and declared that she and Yan Benxing were not suited for each other.
Gongyang Ying rejected Yan Benxing and praised the Night Wolf Tribe fighter who had defeated him, while Sikong Jing concealed his identity as Sikong Yi. Gongyang Ying invited Sikong Yi to discuss the campaign against the Soulfall Bandits, leaving his true identity and strength hidden.
At Moon-Viewing Tower, Gongyang Ying analyzed the failed campaigns against the Soulfall Bandits and sought Sikong Jing’s insight. After recognizing his assessment of the bandits’ weaknesses, she devised an encirclement plan and asked him to add to it.
Sikong Jing accepted Yan Qihuan’s plan to send him to the Soulfall Bandits’ lair, despite Gongyang Ying’s warning that Phantom Soaring Manor intended to kill him. Gongyang Ying grew more suspicious of Sikong Jing’s identity and ordered her secret Moon Soul Group to watch him and Yan Qihuan during the operation.
Sikong Jing returned to the Soul Piercing Mountain Range and launched a surprise operation to seize the Soulfall Bandits and their territory. Soul Devourer learned too late that the encirclement had begun early and ordered his men to retreat.
Sikong Jing lured the Soulfall Bandits into a trap, surrounding them at their mountain base while Sui Yu’s troops seized their families. When Soul Devourer refused to surrender and ordered an attack, he invoked a desperate power, declaring that the bandits would become the War Soul Reaper Army.
Soul Devourer activated his stolen war soul secret art, turning the Soulfall Bandits into mindless reapers who charged the Sixty-Sixth Legion and the families. Sikong Jing and his allies overwhelmed the bandits, and Sikong Jing faced Soul Devourer in battle, leaving the second Exceptional Realm expert stunned by his strength.
