Yan Benxing arrived at the State Preceptor's Residence and demanded to kill Soul Devourer, but Gongyang Ren proposed that they settle the matter through a fight between the younger generation. Yan Benxing accepted and announced his intention to enter the top hundred of the Eastern Plains Thousand Tyrants Ranking, while Hua Lidian defended Sikong Jing's chances of placing among the top three.
Sikong Jing prepared to use his forced duel with Yan Benxing to draw Mo Ci into the State Preceptor's Residence, disguising himself with coal ash before Aunt Mian brought him to the courtyard. Yan Benxing boasted of his breakthrough and demanded a fight to the death, but Gongyang Ren told Sikong Jing to beat him up without killing him.
Sikong Jing, disguised as Soul Devourer, defeated Yan Benxing in a fierce duel at the Grand Preceptor's Residence while hiding his full strength to keep his ranking low. After Yan Benxing lost and called for Elder Wu Zhenzhi to kill Soul Devourer, Wu Zhenzhi attacked him.
Wu Zhenzhi tried to kill Soul Devourer after Yan Benxing lost, but Mo Ci arrived and stopped him. Qiu Qifeng realized Soul Devourer was Sikong Jing, while everyone else believed Mo Ci had come to save him.
Sikong Jing deceived Mo Ci with false traces of the Dark Wing Black Flame Sword’s aura, then used her distraction to launch a surprise attack. The Steel Bone Flying Vulture struck Mo Ci and devastated the State Preceptor’s Residence, while Hua Lidian and Ren Dongmeng realized Sikong Jing had appeared before them.
Sikong Jing used the identity of Soul Devourer to ambush Mo Ci with the Steel Bone Flying Vulture, but learned she had advanced to the second level of the Soul-Reversal Realm. As Lu Lingun arrived and exposed that the supposed Soul Devourer was an impostor, Gongyang Ren identified him as Sikong Jing of the Long Night.
Gongyang Ren and the others discovered that Soul Devourer was Sikong Jing, who had used them to prepare an ambush for Mo Ci. Sikong Jing attacked Mo Ci, but she emerged from the pit alive, and the chapter ended with him asking how Wang Ge was.
Sikong Jing fought Mo Ci with the Steel Bone Flying Vulture and broke free of her Supreme Emotionless Art, declaring himself her natural enemy. Mo Ci then summoned her Ice Soul Cold Eagle, leaving the battle poised to escalate.
Sikong Jing used the Flowing Cloud Flying Squirrels to activate the Imperial Preceptor's Residence formation, crippling Mo Ci's Ice Soul Cold Eagle and trapping everyone inside. He battered Mo Ci and cowed the residence's demonic beasts, then ordered them to get out of his way as he continued the fight.
Sikong Jing killed Yan Benxing while Wu Zhenzhi’s attack struck the Steel Bone Flying Vulture, then fought off Wu Zhenzhi and Mo Ci as other factions joined the battle. War Soul Sacred Dragon Palace blocked War Soul Star Luo Palace to protect him under the pretense of claiming the right to kill him, and Lu Lingun asked Gongyang Ren whether they should intervene.
Gongyang Ren and the War Soul Dynasty remained neutral while Sikong Jing defeated the forces besieging him and killed Wu Zhenzhi and Mo Ci. As Mo Ci weakened, Sikong Jing explained why her threat involving Wang Ge would not save her.
Sikong Jing killed Mo Ci and took her corpse to study the Supreme Emotionless Art, hoping to protect Wang Ge from its cultivation backlash. Surrounded by Gongyang Ren and the others, he used a demonic dragon to seize Gongyang Ying and escape with her.
After escaping with Gongyang Ying, Sikong Jing forced Gongyang Ren to stop the pursuit while rival factions hunted the wounded Steel Bone Flying Vulture. As the War Soul Heavenly Dao Palace began harvesting the vulture, Sikong Jing appeared on a demonic dragon behind them.
Sikong Jing was surrounded by the War Soul Heavenly Dao Palace, whose fighters believed he was helpless without the Steel Bone Flying Vulture. He held them off until Lian Guang arrived with the Eternal Night Wolf Guard, turning the battle’s outlook.
Sikong Jing summoned a vast pack of demon wolves to protect Steel Bone Flying Vulture and confront War Soul Heavenly Dao Palace. He killed Pang Yingjiang and several others, leaving the Palace Master to denounce him as the public enemy of the Eastern Plains Northern Lands.
After killing Mo Ci, Sikong Jing saved the Steel Bone Flying Vulture with the Iron-Wing Divine Vulture's blood and recovered while the War Soul Heavenly Dao Palace retreated. Hua Lidian visited him, and Sikong Jing captured Gongyang Ying again, while Hua explained that Sikong Jing wanted to avoid ranking highly so Wang Ge would not see his name.
Hua Lidian warned Sikong Jing that the three great academies would pursue him, while Sikong Jing let Gongyang Ying go despite the danger. After she left, he revealed that Lu Lingun was likely to uncover his identity as Dark Wing and hunt him down, even at the cost of the Twelve Prefectures of the Gloom Plains.
Sikong Jing moved his forces toward the Northern Mountains while Lu Lingun realized that Sikong Jing was Dark Wing and that the Soulfall Bandits were the disguised Dark Wing Camp. Lu Lingun ordered thirty million troops into the Soul Piercing Mountain Range to surround and destroy them.
After Gongyang Ying returned, Lu Lingun and Gongyang Ren realized Sikong Jing was Dark Wing and launched a dynasty-wide hunt. Sikong Jing led the Eternal Night Wolf Guard north while Ning Jingjing set out on a separate route to return to the Long Night Empire without him.
Ning Jingjing led the Sixty-Sixth Legion and the Soulfall Bandits north while Sikong Jing’s actions threw the War Soul Dynasty into turmoil. With Lu Lingun’s forces diverted to hunt them, Cheng Yusui prepared to seize the Twelve Prefectures of the Gloom Plains, while Ji Tan advanced his bid for the throne.
Yan Ruyu concealed her ambition while accepting Ji Tan’s offer to make her his consort, and Shen Qingye, Tan Yue, and Beigong Xianfeng prepared support for Sikong Jing. Ten days into his escape, Sikong Jing and the seven hundred Eternal Night Wolf Guards were surrounded at Wind Reflection Lake, still five days from the northern mountains.
Sikong Jing revealed that he had deliberately let the War Soul Dynasty discover his group to draw pursuit away from General Ning and the Sixty-Sixth Legion. He prepared to transform the seven hundred Eternal Night Wolf Guards and their mounts with diluted Eternal Night Wolf King blood, while the pursuers arrived at Wind Reflection Lake and failed to spot them.
Sikong Jing used Eternal Night Wolf King blood to help the Eternal Night Wolf Guards and their demon wolves transform, then concealed them with his incomplete Eternal Night Ice Dance while he studied the wolf king’s meridians. Pursuers eventually found Sikong Jing and his motionless companions and wondered if they had frozen to death.
The War Soul Star Luo Palace forces discovered that Sikong Jing and his frozen Eternal Night Wolf Guards had survived and transformed into powerful Dao Martial Realm Beast Blood War Soldiers. The awakened guards struck back against their pursuers, leaving the battle underway with their overwhelming strength on display.
The Eternal Night Wolf Guards fought off the War Soul Star Luo Palace and pursuing troops while Sikong Jing tried to grasp a new core for the Supreme Emotionless Art that could save his sister. When the Flying Cloud Colorful Butterfly warned him that his men were close to defeat, Sikong Jing awakened and left the Ten Thousand Beasts Heavenly Prison.
