Sikong Jing prepared to reveal himself as Elder Ruan’s hidden trump card while the devilmen began the inheritance trial. After most candidates were rejected and Elder Ruan was mocked, Sikong Jing broke through to the Spirit Martial Stage before everyone.
Sikong Jing entered the inheritance grounds and unexpectedly qualified to receive the inheritance, prompting Elder Ruan to wager against Elder Liu that he would last longer than a quarter of an hour. A voice inside Sikong Jing’s mind revealed the inheritance as the Demonic Path Demon Spirit Technique, a method for demonic cultivation without losing consciousness.
Sikong Jing received an inheritance teaching him how to enter demonhood without losing consciousness, including the Pure Spirit Seven Hearts Method and Demonic Path Sevenfold Body. After the others were expelled and he finished receiving the inheritance, he told the Two-Horned War Demon Tiger that he had found Senior Black and possibly his clansmen.
Sikong Jing connected Black Demon to the Desolate Sea Absolute Formation and speculated that Black Demon had stolen the Ten Thousand Beasts Heavenly Prison and left descendants among the demonized humans or Cangyu Sect. After discussing the mystery with the beasts, Sikong Jing returned from receiving his inheritance, and Elder Bu Tun demanded that the demonfolk hand over what they had received.
Sikong Jing passed through the Inheritance Memory Gate, which recorded his fourth inherited cultivation method as a powerful Green Jade Stone Brick. Elder Bu Tun ranked the inheritance among the top three in demon history and ordered Elder Ruan to place a Spirit Martial Lock on Sikong Jing, then left to report the inheritance to the Sect Master.
Sikong Jing secured exemptions for all ten sacrifices from Demon-Scale Island by impressing Elder Ruan with his supposedly mysterious inheritance. During the journey inward, he privately revealed to Zhan Hu that he had received a divine-grade cultivation method that could let demonkin return to human form.
Sikong Jing revealed that the Demonic Battle Heaven-Constant Art could help demonfolk shed their demon forms and might threaten the martial locks imposed by Cangyu Sect. He reached the central prison with the procession and asked Elder Ruan for permission to enter, but Elder Ruan refused.
Sikong Jing was denied entry to the prison until Elder Bu Tun returned, but the arrival of prisoners Ying Sanmeng and Teng Yue changed the situation. When Teng Yue used the Tyrant Soul Army-Slaying Formation, Sikong Jing recognized the formation as a familiar one.
Sikong Jing recognized Teng Yue’s Tyrant Soul Army-Slaying Formation and secretly used the same formation to help Teng Yue join Ying Sanmeng in prison. The two crashed through the prison gates, while Sikong Jing stayed behind to hold off Chai Ren.
Sikong Jing helped Teng Yue enter the prison gate, then provoked Junior Brother Bian into striking him so he could enter as well. Chai Ren learned that the supposedly dead black-scaled demon had obtained an unparalleled inheritance, one the First Sect Master was expected to take seriously.
After learning that Black Scale possessed an extraordinary demonic inheritance tied to the secret of Gods and Devils Island, Chai Ren rushed off to beg the Grand Sect Master for forgiveness, while Bu Tun punished Junior Brother Bian. Black Scale remained missing inside the prison’s sealed inner section, leaving the Cangyu Sect unable to confirm whether he was alive.
Teng Yue entered the prison with Ying Sanmeng to find Sikong Jing, whom he suspected was connected to his grandfather Teng and the Tyrant Soul Army-Slaying Formation. Sikong Jing had survived Bian’s strike and ended up injured outside a dark palace, while Teng Yue faced a group of prisoners.
Sikong Jing entered a gloomy palace at the heart of the Desolate Sea Absolute Formation and discovered that its guardians recognized him as the new generation's Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts. The demonic puppets led him inside to find the remains of a devastating battle, while Black Demon's whereabouts remained unknown.
Sikong Jing entered the palace and found the long-dead Black Demon, whose memory showed how he tried to preserve the Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts’ legacy. The memory ended with Black Demon revealing his original name, Ying Yu, after successfully creating a new inheritance from the Lord’s remains.
Sikong Jing watched Black Demon’s memories and learned how the blood bead made him the new Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts, and how Black Demon founded the Cangyu Demon Sect. The memories ended with Black Demon promising to create a Demon-Reverting Great Art for Demon War, the master of the declining Demon Vein.
Sikong Jing watched Black Demon’s memories reveal Cang Lang’s betrayal and the battle that devastated Gods and Devils Island. As Black Demon tried to activate the Desolate Sea Absolute Formation, a mysterious seven-colored phantom seized the skeletal claw needed to start it.
Sikong Jing witnessed Black Demon’s memory of meeting a mysterious figure who gave him the Ten Thousand Beasts Heavenly Prison and advised him how to hide the Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts’ inheritance from the Five Heavenly Emperors. Black Demon followed her plan, and the chapter ended with the Flame Prison Heavenly Emperor inspecting the damaged formation and leaving without discovering the surviving bloodline.
Sikong Jing witnessed Black Demon’s final arrangements to find the Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts and guide the demonfolk’s future. Before Black Demon died, the seven-colored shadow revealed that she was the King of Night Charms, leaving Sikong Jing stunned.
Sikong Jing witnessed Black Demon's final memories, learned that the King of Night Charms had stolen the Ten Thousand Beasts Heavenly Prison to challenge the next Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts, and accepted his role as the chosen successor. He discovered Black Demon's warnings and repair instructions for the Desolate Sea Absolute Formation, then found a claw of the Previous Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts' skeletal remains and saw its meridians emerge.
Sikong Jing used the claw of the Previous Lord of Ten Thousand Beasts to repair and advance his beast meridians while balancing them against his human meridians. After reaching the Spirit Martial Stage peak, he chose not to break the Spirit Martial Lock yet, weighing the risks to Yinlu and the others and planning to wait for Zhan Hu to reach the Saint Martial Stage.
Sikong Jing learned that the demonic puppets would not obey him until he reached the Divine Martial Stage, so he set out to find Ying Sanmeng and Teng Yue and learn about the Cangyu Sect. He found Teng Yue fighting prisoners and realized the Cangyu Sect had imprisoned him because he was a disciple of the Cosmic Vein.
Sikong Jing learned that the Cang Vein was suppressing the Cosmic Vein and watched as Chai Gong arrived to search for the missing Black Scale demon man. He revealed himself on a distant hill, leaving Chai Gong, Ying Sanmeng, and Teng Yue stunned.
Sikong Jing tried to leave the prison while Chai Gong prepared to hand him over to Cangyu Sect, but he secretly commanded the Demonic Puppet Guardian to intervene. The puppet took Teng Yue and Ying Sanmeng away under the pretense of a Cosmic Vein inheritance, rescuing them as Sikong Jing remained in Chai Gong’s grasp.
Sikong Jing persuaded Chai Gong to take him through a spatial transmission to the Cangyu Sect, while the demonic puppet delivered Ying Sanmeng and Teng Yue to a chance at the first master of the Cosmic Vein’s inheritance. Ying Sanmeng resolved to pursue it, and Teng Yue worried that Sikong Jing would not survive.
Chai Jiu and the Cangyu Sect’s leaders waited anxiously for Chai Gong to return from Gods and Devils Island, fearing that Sikong Jing had reached its secrets. Chai Gong revealed that the Demon Puppet had taken Ying Sanmeng and Teng Yue, and the leaders realized the Cosmic Vein might be able to rise against them.
