History

Before gaining supernatural abilities, Ito was known as the “White Dragon of the Fire” for rescuing Ayako Fujiwara from a fire. He was unable to save his own parents in the same incident, leaving him disfigured, hospitalized, and consumed by guilt over his choice. 21 22

After being discharged from the hospital, Ito struggled to find work because of his appearance and lived in isolation. He obsessively read both praise and abuse surrounding his past heroism, while receiving little contact from the people he hoped would remember him. 21

Kurishimoro, claiming to represent a news agency, visited Ito and provoked him over whether he truly had no regrets. He left behind a voice recorder containing an interview with the Fujiwara family and an unexplained pill described as something that would make others regret. 21 22

The recording devastated Ito: while the Fujiwaras acknowledged that he had saved Ayako, they wanted the public to forget him so their daughter could move on. Ito consumed the pill shortly afterward, setting in motion his mutation into a fire-wielding superhuman. 22 23

Appearance

Ito is a scarred, disfigured young man whose mottled facial skin makes his expressions appear especially severe. He commonly hides his face with a hood and mask after becoming a public suspect. 21 23

His guilt over his parents' deaths gradually becomes resentment toward those he believes exploited, abandoned, or judged him. After the apartment fire and the public condemnation that follows, he reframes vengeance as a form of heroism and embraces the idea that others—not himself—should regret their actions. 24 25

Even after his rampage, Ito retains some attachment to his past. He remains concerned about his parents' graves and later worries about the safety of his ex-girlfriend, suggesting that his destructive impulses have not fully erased his capacity for regret or care. 30

The Pill and the Apartment Fire

Ito listens to the Fujiwara recording, consumes Kurishimoro's pill, and awakens [Combustion]. His apartment becomes the origin point of a catastrophic fire, after which he escapes rather than reveal his powers or face arrest. 22 24

Vengeance and Escalation

Overwhelmed by public hatred and grief over his parents, Ito attacks civilians in a cafeteria, kills grave-desecration content creator Ikuta Ichicho, and decides to pursue Ayako Fujiwara. 25

Battle with the Special Affairs Bureau

William attempts to speak with Ito before moving to protect the Fujiwara family. Ito rejects negotiation, attacks the Bureau team, and reveals golden flames after being wounded. 26

Tokyo Fire Giant Incident

Ito releases his negative emotions and becomes the Flame Giant, forcing military intervention and causing widespread panic. The Faker ultimately neutralizes him with a snap of his fingers after Ito's destructive energy is spent. 27 28

The Faker's Proxy
