Background / History

Yin-Yang School and Summoning

In her original world, Yan Fei is the Yin-Yang School’s Eastern Lord, described as holding half the school in her grasp. She and Yue Shen have known each other since childhood, but their relationship deteriorated into severe hostility before their arrival on the Douluo Continent 8 50 99.

Zhao Linchuan summons both women through his system. Yan Fei initially watches him in silence, maintaining a defensive aura while assessing the unfamiliar room. Her starting loyalty is 61; the system’s binding prevents a direct attack on him but does not compel her to remain at his side 8 18.

After Zhao explains the new world, she accepts General Knowledge of Spirit Masters and begins adapting to its cultivation system. Her Soul Saint-level aura helps secure the purchase of a large residence in Nuoding City 9.

Service and Entry into the Zhao Household

Yan Fei begins taking responsibility for domestic affairs, preparing a banquet and welcoming Zhao Linchuan home with a consideration that surprises Yue Shen. The two women also use their Yin-Yang arts to trap and subdue scouts investigating the aftermath of Tang Hao’s death 14 17.

When Zhao questions whether either woman will remain loyal after receiving powerful resources, Yue Shen answers first. Alarmed by her rival’s growing advantage, Yan Fei subsequently offers equal loyalty and insists that she can match Yue Shen’s service 18 19.

Yue Shen later encourages Yan Fei to enter the Zhao family, partly hoping to establish seniority over her. Yan Fei accepts a closer relationship with Zhao Linchuan and, the following morning, calmly offers Yue Shen tea as her younger sister in the household. Her lack of resentment disarms Yue Shen, who proposes ending their quarrels and managing the home together 50 51 52 53.

Administration and Mentorship

Yan Fei becomes a central organizer of the manor, overseeing resources, guiding newcomers, and mediating relationships. She takes charge of the Great Master of Fate’s adaptation to Douluo cultivation and delegates the Young Master of Fate’s initial orientation before personally supervising further training 88 104 105.

Over the two years preceding Zhao Linchuan’s Divine Core reward, she manages Dao Seeking Academy in orderly fashion while continuing to support the household. Zhao recognizes that these efforts also express her desire to remain indispensable as Yue Shen’s power pulls ahead, and decides that Yan Fei deserves the God-King Grade Divine Core 122.

Later Divine Activities

During seclusion, Yan Fei cultivates amid twelve orbiting suns and an immense golden wheel. Her breakthrough destroys the galaxy Yue Shen had assembled; she then returns to the residence and is subsequently identified as a supreme God King 187 188 189.

Her God Trial contributes to Qian Renxue’s progress to level 99, enhancing the latter’s soul rings and soul bones. Yan Fei later appears with Yue Shen and Yan Lingji above the ruins of the Divine Realm before the three depart through the void 207 211.

Appearance

  • Initial attire: A fitted crimson-and-gold dress embroidered with dark-gold flowing cloud patterns, accompanied by a noble, scorching aura 8.
  • Eyes: Described at her arrival as burning like glazed glass; after her later breakthrough, her pupils release destructive golden light 8 187.
  • Tea ceremony attire: A restrained light-purple dress with silver floral embroidery, emphasizing her fair skin and gentle bearing 53.
  • After seclusion: A peach-colored, gold-gilded, off-the-shoulder gown embroidered with the Golden Crow chasing the sun 188.
  • Hair and ornaments: Black hair secured with a ruby-tipped hairpin; emerald drop earrings, a delicate gold necklace, and a white jade bracelet 188.

Personality

Yan Fei is proud, controlled, and observant. Her initial caution gives way to practical adaptation rather than unquestioning trust. As Eastern Lord, she retains enough authority to make the Great Master of Fate instinctively lower her head, yet she can address Zhao Linchuan with warmth and consideration 8 9 14 87.

Her rivalry with Yue Shen survives their reconciliation in a less hostile form: both continue competing for their husband’s affection and recognition. Yan Fei conceals much of her dissatisfaction when Yue Shen’s cultivation advances beyond hers, instead investing greater effort in administration, alchemy, and mentorship 71 85 122.

She is capable of generosity without abandoning a ruthless strategic outlook. She advocates giving Xiao Wu proper recognition for years of devoted service, but also agrees that an attack by the Strength Clan could be used to establish the academy’s reputation through force 103 109.

Her criticism is often indirect and pointed. A garden conversation uses flowers to question Zhao Linchuan’s decisions, and he privately acknowledges her skill at sarcasm, veiled insults, and strategic retreat 98 99.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Yan Fei possesses the Three-Legged Golden Crow and Great Sun Golden Wheel 8.

  • The Golden Crow is explicitly identified as a god-level martial soul with exceptional physical tempering and amplification 82.
  • Her three million-year soul rings contain god-level laws and energy, giving her an advantage over Yue Shen’s sub-million-year rings at that stage 82.
  • The Great Sun Golden Wheel remains a standard Artifact before Zhao decides to grant her a God-King Grade Divine Core 122.
  • Before acquiring soul rings, her Soul Saint foundation cannot provide her full strength or powerful soul skills 18.

Solar Fire and Celestial Power

Her later cultivation manifests True Fire of the Sun, a vast golden wheel, and twelve orbiting suns 187.

  • Condenses the twelve suns into lotus-seed-sized forms and absorbs them into her body 187.
  • Releases golden light from her pupils that tears through the surrounding void and shatters numerous celestial bodies 187.
  • Emerges from the void after completing seclusion 188.

Yin-Yang Arts and Illusions

Yan Fei retains the techniques of her original school after crossing worlds 17.

  • Cooperates with Yue Shen to trap and subdue faction scouts within a single day 17.
  • Recreates the appearance of a harvested immortal-herb garden through illusions 103.
  • Understands the counterfeit Flesh Ganoderma Tai Sui scheme: apparent cultivation gains conceal the depletion of users’ potential and lifespan 103.

Alchemy and Medicinal Cultivation

Yan Fei refines pills, prepares medicinal meals, and helps cultivate immortal herbs 51 73 85.

  • Creates the Ten-Perfection Pill, renamed the Heaven-Deficiency Spirit-Replenishing Pill by Zhao Linchuan 51.
  • Uses thirty-six kinds of immortal herbs and spiritual medicines, hundred-thousand-year Deep Sea Giant Whale brain essence, and hundred-thousand-year Jade-Horned Spirit Deer horn marrow in its recipe 51.
  • Describes the pill as increasing soul power, tempering the body, and repairing hidden injuries and damage to the martial soul’s origin 51.
  • States that its balanced medicinal properties permit even ordinary people to take it without their bodies exploding 51.
  • Works with Yue Shen to accelerate immortal-herb growth through divine power 73.

Cultivation Guidance and Divine Trials

Yan Fei guides both newly summoned cultivators and established allies 88 104 105 207.

  • Provides introductory texts and plans martial-soul awakening for the Great Master of Fate 88.
  • Personally guards soul-bone and God-Bestowed Soul Ring fusion to prevent complications 105.
  • Grants a God Trial whose completion enhances Qian Renxue’s soul rings and soul bones 207.

Administration and Strategy

Her responsibilities extend beyond cultivation 105 122.

  • Coordinates household affairs, resource allocation, and newcomers’ integration 105.
  • Manages Dao Seeking Academy and mediates between Zhao Linchuan’s companions 122.
  • Plans with Yan Lingji to turn a possible Strength Clan confrontation into a demonstration of the academy’s power 109.

  • Young Master of Fate — Fellow Yin-Yang School member whom Yan Fei had not previously met in person. She recognizes the girl’s Wood Department techniques and helps her integrate into the new world 104 105 122.
  • Yan Lingji — Fellow household member and strategic collaborator. Yan Fei shows concern for her and works with her on academy matters 94 109.
  • Xiao Wu — Household companion whose years of service Yan Fei believes deserve proper recognition. She raises the issue directly with Zhao Linchuan 103.
  • Qian Renxue — Recipient of Yan Fei’s God Trial, which contributes to her later advancement and strengthened cultivation resources 165 207.
