Background / History

Childhood in Holy Soul Village

Tang San grew up with Tang Hao, who supported their household through blacksmithing while hiding from Spirit Hall. At six, Tang San already forged iron with unusual strength and practiced steadiness. His previous-life memories gave him an adult-like mindset, and he generally avoided socializing with the village children 86.

Despite cultivating Tang Sect techniques since birth, he knew almost nothing about Soul Masters. His routine centered on cooking, forging, and morning cultivation. Qian Ye introduced him to Martial Souls, Soul Power, academies, and Spirit Hall before his awakening 87 90 91 92.

First Encounters with Qian Ye

Qian Ye approached Tang San while posing as Jie Er Niu’s distant cousin. Their meeting turned hostile when Qian Ye forcibly guided his hammering through hundreds of blows, bruised his palm, and demanded to be called “Brother Ye.” Tang San retaliated with a surprise attack, but his movement and grappling techniques proved ineffective 86 87.

Further encounters established the same imbalance. Qian Ye immobilized his thrown pebbles and used a nearly invisible silver needle to force him into uncontrollable laughter. Tang San outwardly submitted while privately retaining his hostility 88 93.

Nuoding Academy

Following his awakening, Tang San entered Nuoding Academy, became Yu Xiaogang’s disciple, and lived in Dorm Seven. He grew close to Xiao Wu and shared her bedding because she initially lacked money for a quilt. His academy life largely revolved around cultivation, his teacher, and Xiao Wu 97 114.

Qian Ye’s arrival disrupted that relationship. Xiao Wu moved beside Qian Ye’s bed, accepted a new quilt from him, and rejected Tang San’s attempts to question her private affairs. Tang San increasingly blamed Qian Ye for her withdrawal 122.

Qian Ye subsequently exposed his Twin Martial Souls. Tang San attacked with his first Soul Skill, believing that defeating Qian Ye would restore Xiao Wu’s affection. His poison failed, and Qian Ye shattered the binding grass with Soul Power, leaving him coughing blood from internal injuries 126 127 128.

Tang San later suspected that medicinal herbs supplied by Qian Ye explained Jie Da Niu and Jie Er Niu’s rapid advancement. When Yu Xiaogang proposed traveling to Gengxin City, he eagerly agreed, hoping to obtain rare metals for Hidden Weapons 150.

Shrek Academy

Tang San traveled to Suotuo City to enroll at Shrek Academy on Yu Xiaogang’s recommendation. At the Rose Hotel, he confronted Dai Mubai and attacked after Xiao Wu was hurt. His Blue Silver Grass failed to hold Dai Mubai, although Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track helped him evade close combat 200 203.

He registered at Shrek at level twenty-nine, below every other member of his accompanying student group. Although disappointed by the academy’s poor facilities, he remained determined to attend 206 209.

His rivalry with Qian Ye continued without closing the gap. During a later reunion, he was still below level forty and had not obtained the immortal herbs from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Recognizing that another confrontation would only earn him a beating, he withdrew and resolved to cultivate harder 441 442.

Tang Yin and the Divine Succession Plans

After inheriting the Blue Silver Emperor, Tang San entered the City of Slaughter under the name Tang Yin. His changed appearance concealed his identity from Hu Liena, but Qian Ye recognized him immediately and chose not to expose him. Tang San likewise recognized Qian Ye and pretended to introduce himself as a stranger 513.

The Sea God and Asura God King later discussed making Tang San their successor while planning to oppose Qian Ye. Their interest did not establish that he had inherited either divine position 541.

Qian Ye subsequently entered his room and selectively erased his memories of Tang Sect cultivation methods, hand techniques, footwork, grappling, and Hidden Weapon manufacture and use 551.

Final Match and Death

At the Jialing Pass reunion, Tang San and Dai Mubai challenged Qian Ye to a Soul Fighting match. Tang San displayed nine rings, none older than ten thousand years, while Qian Ye revealed ten gold rings and declared that he had become a god 580.

Tang San opened with Blue Silver True Body and bound Qian Ye as Dai Mubai attacked in White Tiger True Body. Neither could overcome him; both were burned to ashes 580.

Appearance

Tang San’s childhood appearance is deliberately unremarkable; the Blue Silver Emperor inheritance later changes him enough to support his Tang Yin disguise 86 513.

• At six years old: A little over one meter tall, with wheat-colored skin, large eyes, and an ordinary face 86.
• Build: Already has visible arm muscle from years of forging 86.
• After the inheritance: Becomes handsome, with markedly altered height and physique. Hu Liena does not recognize him as Tang San 513.

Personality

Tang San is reserved, diligent, and protective of his cultivation time. As a child, he avoids casual company and dislikes interruptions to his smithing. His isolation also leaves him poorly informed about the world despite his previous-life experience 86 90 92.

He is secretive and cautious with advantages. He conceals the Clear Sky Hammer at awakening, follows his father’s instruction to hide his Twin Martial Souls, and later relies on an alias after his appearance changes 97 127 513.

His attachment to Xiao Wu becomes possessive and fuels his resentment toward Qian Ye. He repeatedly hopes that greater strength will win her affection, even after she defines their relationship as merely that of classmates and dormmates. He is also fiercely defensive of Yu Xiaogang, attacking Wang Sheng for criticizing his teacher 126 127 150 442.
