Background

Ji Ba was formerly a college student who built capital through a new-energy business before falling asleep while reading One Piece and transmigrating into Buggy’s body. His soul fused with portions of Buggy’s memories and personality, leaving him prone to sudden temper and auditory hallucinations during his first weeks in the world. The symptoms gradually improved, though Buggy’s volatile fixation on his red nose remained. 1

Through Buggy’s memories, Ji Ba learned that Buggy had once sailed with Roger’s crew but was left behind to guard the ship before reaching Laugh Tale. He adopted Buggy’s lingering ambition: find the Great Treasure and uncover the world’s truth. 1

Unlike the former Buggy’s approach to piracy, he initially rejects indiscriminate village plundering despite his crew’s supply problems. His leadership instead develops around training, alliances, information gathering, calculated intimidation, and recruiting capable followers. 1 2 282
