"Righteous One" Noah

Heart-rending screams rang out continuously from inside the house as the lame man waited anxiously outside.

With the newborn's first cry, Wang Yuan observed the child.

"Komoro, you've found your successor." Wang Yuan looked at the newborn. After the child was born, Wang Yuan could sense the Soul Qi being transmitted from him.

Under the effects of the pathogen, the newborn was exceptionally healthy. He soon opened his eyes, and his dark eyes turned toward Wang Yuan as he broke into a delighted smile.

"Can you sense my presence?" Wang Yuan smiled.

Although Komoro could no longer escape Wang Yuan's control because of the Domination Pathogen, he still knew too much. Besides, wasn't this newborn even more outstanding than him?

Thus, those who had a covenant with God were called righteous ones. Noah's covenant with Wang Yuan was the pathogen within his body, which was why Wang Yuan had named it the Righteous One Pathogen.

"So that's my little brother." Komoro stood in the distance, looking at the child who had become the center of everyone's attention. His gaze flickered. He envied and resented this younger brother. If Noah hadn't appeared, why would he have joined the hunting team and encountered that sort of thing?

As soon as he thought that, Komoro felt a wave of panic. It was the Domination Pathogen inside him at work. Whenever he thought anything bad about Negary, his instincts would activate, stimulating the secretion of a substance that filled him with fear.

Looking at the family where there was no longer any place for him, Komoro turned and left. He had already resolved to dedicate everything to Negary.

Wang Yuan continued observing the effects of the Righteous One Pathogen. Noah grew very quickly and was exceptionally intelligent. If Wang Yuan hadn't remained connected to his consciousness at all times, he might have thought Noah was a transmigrated soul.

"Wald!" Noah clumsily uttered several syllables. A small gray bird flew in through the window, clutching a curled leaf in its talons. It brought the leaf before Noah and carefully poured the dew on it into his mouth.

Wang Yuan silently watched from nearby. Noah's behavior reminded him of the legends of the Kexi People. In their language, Kexi represented spirit. The Kexi People were a race born from the spirit of the progenitor of all things. They could perceive the divine names of the spirits of all things and use those names to wield all kinds of incredible power.

During this period of observation, Noah would occasionally utter some vague syllables. Through those syllables, Noah could command certain animals, with birds being the easiest to command.

"Wald means dew drinker among the Kexi People, doesn't it?" Wang Yuan frowned as he considered the connection. Could the myths and legends of the Kexi People be real?

Through his connection with Noah's consciousness, Wang Yuan knew that although Noah was intelligent, he was still far too young to clearly express himself. The reason he could utter those vague syllables was more instinct than anything else.

As though he sensed Wang Yuan watching him, Noah smiled happily in Wang Yuan's direction. Wang Yuan smiled back. No matter what secrets the Kexi People possessed, at least Noah was his righteous one now.

The pathogens still need further refinement. These pathogens can't give me enough power yet. Wang Yuan vaguely sensed the distribution of pathogens throughout the village when he suddenly received a message from two Mutated Crows.

"The crow eggs are about to hatch?" Wang Yuan drifted away from Noah. Interference Force propelled his soul body swiftly toward the back of the village.

Now that his soul body had been substantially restored, the power of his Interference Force had increased considerably, greatly boosting his speed. He soon arrived at the large tree behind the village.

Of the five crow eggs in the nest, only two had hatched so far. Two chicks covered in only a little down were lively in the nest. This was the home of the Mutated Crows, and the air was saturated with Progenitor Pathogen.

The two chicks showed no adverse reactions upon coming into contact with the pathogen. Instead, they appeared exceptionally energetic. Clearly, the current Progenitor Pathogen was highly compatible with these crows.

"Ordinary crow chicks need to be cared for by adult crows for around a month before they can leave the nest and fly on their own. These crows might be able to leave the nest very soon." Wang Yuan used Interference Force to inspect the chicks' condition and made a rough estimate.

One by one, the remaining crow eggs hatched. Villagers nearby had long prepared food: some fruit, insects, and carrion. The two adult crows didn't need to search for food and could simply bring it over to feed the chicks.

All five crow eggs hatched without any adverse reactions in the pathogen-rich environment, though the chicks became hungry very easily.

The situation is good. Of course, mutations during their later growth can't be ruled out. After observing them for a while, Wang Yuan considered it. Although crows were no longer so important, the more crows there were, the better.

The crows continuously provided Soul Qi every day. It wasn't much, but over time, it was remarkably stable.

I wonder what will happen once my soul body is fully restored? Wang Yuan examined the state of his soul body. Although it appeared complete, only he knew that the immense emptiness of being incomplete had always remained.

His instincts constantly reminded him to Devour more Soul Qi and complete himself. Even when Wang Yuan infected pregnant women with pathogens, he had the urge to plunge headfirst into their bellies.

At those times, he could sense that if he entered, he could complete his soul body and be reborn as a human. However, Wang Yuan suppressed that urge.

First, he couldn't be certain whether he would retain his memories after being reborn as a human.

Second, even if he could retain his memories, Wang Yuan wasn't particularly willing to become human again. He could still grow stronger by absorbing Soul Qi now. If he became human, he would instead fall into a difficult situation. There was a strong chance he would die as a human, and then he might not necessarily be able to become a remnant soul again.

To clarify, the protagonist will not be reborn as a human, either now or in the future.
