Background / History

Tsunade had left the Leaf Village because it was associated with painful memories. While travelling with Shizune, she accumulated debts throughout the Ninja World through repeated gambling losses. Her reputation as the “Big Fatty Sheep” spread among casinos. 139 142

She chose to return to the Leaf Village to pay respects to her teacher and investigate the situation there, surprising Shizune. 139 In the village, she reunited with her great-grandfathers, Hashirama Senju and Tobirama Senju, who were present through Orochimaru’s Reanimation Jutsu. The reunion left her emotional, particularly when discussing the disappearance of the Senju Clan and the deaths of Nawaki and Danzō Katō. 141

After returning, Tsunade was assigned to the Leaf Village Hospital.
