Long before Jack led his team in their escape, Dilos had leaped onto a nearby tree and clung to its trunk, continuously using his psychic power to cast the Stun Technique on the swarming Compsognathus.
The psychic energy contained in a single Compsognathus's mind was far weaker than that of an ordinary adult. With Dilos's abilities, he could instantly immobilize a hundred or so of them with his psychic power. The problem was that there were simply too many. Even after the team had killed more than five hundred, and he had blown dozens more to pieces with grenades, around a thousand Compsognathus were still charging forward in an endless stream.
So Dilos switched to a less strenuous method, repeatedly striking the minds of the Compsognathus charging at him with psychic energy. He could only hit two hundred at a time, but this took much less effort and left the Compsognathus mentally frozen for several seconds. Even after they recovered, Dilos could strike them again with his psychic power before they had a chance to react.
By repeating this process, Dilos kept the thousand or so Compsognathus trapped in the area, preventing them from attacking Jack's team.
"Hmm..." Once he had them all held in place, Dilos glanced in the direction Jack's team had gone. After deciding they wouldn't be back anytime soon, he began examining the Compsognathus.
And as he watched them, he noticed something was wrong.
Normally, Compsognathus had pale yellow eyes. But the eyes of the ones Dilos had restrained were bright red! On top of that, the psychic waves they gave off were full of agitation and bloodlust.
"Could these guys have been poisoned?"
It wasn't surprising that Dilos thought so. If this had been a genetic issue, the Compsognathus should have shown this bloodthirsty behavior
