Background / History
Bibi Dong was formerly Spirit Hall's Saintess and Qian Xunji's disciple. She fell in love with Yu Xiaogang and privately imagined leaving Spirit Hall to live with him. After Qian Xunji sexually assaulted her, she felt unworthy of Yu Xiaogang and pushed him away; he subsequently became involved with Liu Erlong 42 47.
The abuse left Bibi Dong with an ingrained aversion to male touch and difficulty accepting her daughter, Qian Renxue, whose presence reminded her of Qian Xunji. Bibi Dong later killed Qian Xunji, consumed his body and soul for the Rakshasa First Trial, and succeeded him as Pope 1 14 45 46.
In the original future, Bibi Dong became the Rakshasa God but died at Jialing Pass. Her divine artifact shattered with her, though she concealed its fragments within her surviving soul. That remnant returned to the past and emerged during Fang Mo's awakening, creating two simultaneous incarnations: the living Pope and the defeated future self called Dong'er 1 3 6 45.
Appearance
- Present-day Pope: Appears approximately twenty-five or twenty-six when she first visits the orphanage, with nearly translucent pale skin, pale pink lips, and cold violet eyes 2.
- Hair: Long and purple, reaching her waist; worn loose in private or tied up for travel and formal duties 28 36 41.
- Clothing: Frequently wears deep-purple casual clothing, battle robes, or formal papal attire with a crown 2 5 28.
- Dong'er: Resembles the Pope but has dark-red eyes and initially appears as an illusory, transparent figure surrounded by darkness 3 44.
- Concealment: Wears a veil outside after the six-year time skip to hide the existence of a second Bibi Dong 90.
Personality
Bibi Dong presents herself as cold, commanding, and difficult to approach. Her authority rests on both force and political calculation: she acquires valuable cultivation resources to attract neutral elders, while ordering lethal security measures around her students' training grounds 23 25 32.
As a teacher, she is demanding but attentive. She prepares Fang Mo's curriculum herself, controls the timing of his spirit-ring attachments, and personally protects him during dangerous absorption attempts. Her concern does not prevent her from requiring him to kill soul beasts or undertake independent hunts 6 7 14 33 69.
Her attachment to Yu Xiaogang initially overrides her willingness to assess his theories critically. Even when Dong'er presents contradictory evidence, she struggles to separate academic judgment from her earlier love and choices 41 42 43.
Dong'er retains Bibi Dong's pride and distrust but has a harsher understanding of her past mistakes. She initially rejects Fang Mo's overtures, then accepts cooperation to prevent another defeat. Her remorse is especially evident in her efforts to give Qian Renxue the affection she previously withheld 3 18 65.
The Pope's later possessiveness toward Fang Mo develops within the Rakshasa God's deliberate manipulation of her emotions. It produces jealousy, surveillance, and thoughts of confinement, rather than simply reflecting her earlier protective teacher-student bond 47 49 71.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Bibi Dong possesses the Death Spider Emperor and Soul-Eater Spider Emperor 5.
- The Death Spider Emperor is associated with defense, control, potent poison, and corrosion 6.
- The Soul-Eater Spider Emperor is associated with offensive power, execution, soul-devouring, and plunder 6.
- She developed her cultivation method through more than a decade of experimentation without a successful predecessor to follow 5.
- Adding spirit rings increases repulsion between twin souls; failed balancing can cause injury, cultivation regression, or severe damage to the soul 5 6.
Soul Power and Spiritual Perception
Her Titled Douluo strength allows her to suppress soul beasts and protect another cultivator during spirit-ring absorption 14.
- Pins a Shadow Wolf to the ground with dark soul power 14.
- Wraps Fang Mo's meridians in her energy to contain the impact of his first spirit ring 14.
- Detects abnormal changes in spirit-power fluctuations with exceptional sensitivity 13.
- Awakens and enters combat readiness in less than a breath when someone enters her private chambers 60.
Cultivation Teaching and Research
Bibi Dong provides Fang Mo with her personal twin-soul notes and a curriculum more advanced than that of ordinary disciples 6 69.
- Requires complete coordination between his martial souls before allowing spirit-ring attachment 7.
- Teaches foundational theory and precise soul-power control 7 69.
- Eventually develops a new martial-soul theory from Fang Mo's system, replacing Yu Xiaogang's Ten Core Competencies 89.
Dong'er's Remnant Divine Power
Dong'er retains fragments of Rakshasa power despite losing her divine position 3 6.
- Communicates mentally with Fang Mo and accesses his memories, including knowledge from his previous world 17 18.
- Activates the shattered Rakshasa Scythe fragments, establishing Fang Mo's second martial soul; the expenditure initially forces her into prolonged sleep 6.
- Masks fluctuations during his spirit-ring absorption and uses stored energy to imitate a divine blessing 13 14.
- Helps suppress the violent soul impact of an eighty-two-thousand-year spirit ring 112.
- Recovers through souls consumed by Fang Mo's Shadow Soul Devour 35.
Host-Linked Soul Skills
These skills belong to Fang Mo's Bibi Dong martial soul, not to the living Pope's documented personal skill set.
| Skill | Function | Limits / Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Shadow Soul Devour | Erodes living souls and consumes them after death to support Dong'er's recovery 35. | Fang Mo's second soul skill 35. |
| Mental Whisper | Produces brief hallucinations or cognitive bias, disrupting judgment and combat rhythm 104. | Does not directly inflict damage. Dong'er believes it can completely brainwash sufficiently weak targets; her fragmented divinity makes the interference difficult to detect 104. |
| Shadow Net | Creates a web infused with Rakshasa power and corrosive properties, restraining targets while eroding their soul and spiritual power 112. | Twenty-meter radius; duration depends on the caster's reserves. Golden Crocodile Douluo judges it capable of trapping an ordinary Soul King 112. |
