Background / History

Tang San initially relies on Blue Silver Grass and Tang Sect hidden weapons while studying under Yu Xiaogang. When Di Yao publicly identifies him as a dangerous user of concealed weapons and suppresses his Blue Silver Grass, Tang San retreats with Yu Xiaogang rather than continue a losing confrontation. Di Yao deliberately allows their escape to draw out their associates. 23

As Spirit Hall’s search closes in, Tang San and Yu Xiaogang transfer documents and establish a hidden-weapon killing array in an academy warehouse. Tang San prepares visible and concealed trap layers, expecting Di Yao to discover the first. 26 After Tang Hao extracts him and Yu Xiaogang from Nuoding City, Tang San resolves to kill Di Yao and recognizes the urgency of becoming stronger. 30

Witnessing Di Yao acquire a near-ten-thousand-year third soul ring devastates Tang San’s confidence in his existing path. Tang Hao tells him he cannot catch Di Yao by following that route, prompting Tang San to begin learning the Clear Sky Hammer and seek an alliance with the Black Market. 52

Di Yao later lures Tang San into exposing his second Martial Soul at the South City Old Beast Pen. Tang Hao intervenes, but Tang San must flee with him after the Clear Sky Hammer is revealed. 69 70 Tang Hao subsequently disciplines Tang San for his impulsiveness, forbids him from contacting the Black Market alone, and begins teaching him hammer fundamentals. 78

After Spirit Hall cuts off his weapon-material supply chain in Iron Furnace Town, Tang San shifts from direct resentment to calculated countermeasures. He uses real goods and false ledgers at White Stone Warehouse in an attempt to misdirect Di Yao. 90 94 His involvement with armament materials and Soul-Breaking Crossbows becomes central to the Black Market Armament Case, leading to restrictions on his movement and the seizure of his hidden-weapon blueprints. 109 110

Tang San infiltrates Dugu Bo’s Herb Garden seeking Immortal Herbs to gain ground on Di Yao, but Di Yao has already claimed the finest herbs. Tang San fails to seize the Golden Crow Vine and withdraws with Xiao Wu. 103 104

While attempting to protect Xiao Wu, Tang San triggers the Clear Sky Hammer Seal left by Tang Hao. Di Yao counters it using Tang Hao’s blood, exposing the extent to which Tang San’s actions have been anticipated. 112 Tang Hao later rescues Tang San from Heaven Dou Royal Academy, but Xiao Wu remains behind under the threat of the Sun Lock Seal. 114

Tang San completes one hundred matches in the Hell Slaughter Arena and immediately enters Hell Road, driven by the goal of saving Xiao Wu and confronting Di Yao. He emerges with stronger killing intent and a harsher disposition. 121 During the eventual rescue of Xiao Wu from the Heaven Dou Spirit Hall Branch, his Divine Slaughter’s Domain manifests the influence of Asura Divine Sense. 124 125

Personality

Tang San is strategic, patient in preparation, and deeply resistant to passivity. When threatened, he favors traps, layered misdirection, concealed weapons, and prearranged escape routes over straightforward confrontation. 26 94

His resolve to surpass and kill Di Yao increasingly becomes obsession. Repeated losses of resources, exposure of his Clear Sky Hammer, and the widening gap between their strength make him more calculating, angry, and willing to push beyond his former limits. 52 69 103

He remains fiercely protective of Yu Xiaogang and Xiao Wu. He accepts responsibility for restricted materials to shield Yu Xiaogang, and repeatedly risks himself to protect or retrieve Xiao Wu. However, his killing intent and the influence of Asura Divine Sense eventually make Xiao Wu fear the person he is becoming. 109 124 125
