Transforming Force is the martial realm produced when Bright Force and Dark Force fully fuse. It combines Bright Force’s rigid explosiveness with Dark Force’s supple, penetrating qualities, allowing hardness and softness to transform into one another at will 82.

It is a major dividing line in martial combat. A Transforming Force martial artist can identify openings throughout an opponent’s body and holds an overwhelming advantage over Dark Force practitioners 83.

Characteristics

• Bright Force is characterized as Yang and Dark Force as Yin; their complementary union produces Transforming Force 82.
• The force spreads throughout the practitioner’s limbs, bones, blood, and energy rather than remaining distinctly divided into Bright and Dark aspects 82.
• It grants highly refined control: the saying associated with the realm is, “Not a feather may be added, not a fly may land” 82.
• Gate-Knocking remains necessary for advancement, and practitioners with inferior bone structure face a lower success rate even after polishing Dark Force to perfection 5 82.
• Transforming Force is below Core Formation; Great Completion begins the transformation of internal force toward True Qi but does not itself produce true True Qi 110.

Transforming Force creates an enormous gap over Dark Force.

Li Chuan’s Advancement

Li Chuan first notices signs of Bright and Dark Force merging while his Mountain-Holding Stance exceeds 2,000 proficiency at Great Success 67. He continues a rigid routine of stance practice, fist practice, medicinal pills, and rest despite the unfavorable odds associated with his inferior bone structure 82.

At 4,000 proficiency, the Mountain-Holding Stance reaches Perfection. This immediately fuses his Bright and Dark Forces and brings him into Transforming Force shortly before the Seven Halls Tournament 82. He later develops the realm to Great Completion, substantially increasing his speed and power as his internal force begins converting toward True Qi 110.
