Background / History

Liu Feng first appears as the youthful chief person in charge of Number 98. Though he looks close to Yang Chen's age, Chen Tianxin identifies him as an old, unfathomable existence. Liu Feng accepts Yang Chen as his disciple after recognizing his talent and demonstrates his superiority by releasing an aura from his Blade Case that suppresses Yang Chen and the gathered Grandmasters. 36 37

He is tied to the Liu Family, which founded Number 98 and has guarded Huaxia across generations. Liu Feng explains that the family abandoned the ancient era to protect humanity in the new age, while retaining enough influence that ancient powers hesitate to challenge it directly. 135

Liu Feng later reveals that his present identity is more complicated than it appears: the original Liu Feng died while he was asleep, after which he took the name. He describes himself as one of Liu Qingtian's elders and is recognized as senior to the Liu Family ancestor. 184 199

His deeper identity is eventually exposed as the Human Emperor's avatar. His true body remains in the Immortal Realm, while the avatar operates in Huaxia under the Liu Feng identity. The avatar ultimately leaves Huaxia to return to the true body, which requires him to resolve an unspecified crisis. 267 272

After later dying, Liu Feng is revived at the edge of the Immortal Realm when Yang Chen summons his soul and uses a Jianmu Tree branch to forge him a new body. 906

Appearance

Liu Feng ordinarily appears as a young man around Yang Chen's age, despite possessing memories and connections reaching back to the ancient era. He commonly carries a Blade Case containing his signature weapon. 36 183

  • Youthful appearance and lively eyes. 36
  • Usually carries a Blade Case on his back or at his waist. 36 95
  • Wields the ancient Nine Dragon Sky Blade. 52
  • His true Human Emperor likeness appears as a more mature, middle-aged version of Liu Feng. 265

Personality

Liu Feng is calm, calculating, and openly domineering toward enemies. He often provokes opponents into acting first, then uses their actions as justification to strike. This approach is evident in his confrontation with William and the Northern European expert, whom he kills after drawing them into battle. 52

He is fiercely protective of Yang Chen. When Yang Chen is threatened, Liu Feng responds with immediate hostility, including confronting the Penglai Immortal Master and declaring that anyone who targets his disciple will be killed. 127 211

Despite his severity, he takes pride in Yang Chen's growth and provides encouragement without concealing the dangers ahead. He initially tests whether Yang Chen truly cares for Huaxia before entrusting him with the Human Emperor's legacy. 79 127 272
