Son Gohan: [What should I do? Mom and Dad are arguing.]
Shi Tianwu: [Gohan, what are they arguing about?]
Lu Bian: [I guess Goku wants Gohan to train with him and King Piccolo, and Gohan's mother, Chi-Chi, is strongly opposed to it.]
Son Gohan: [That is exactly the situation, Brother Lu Bian.]
Son Gohan: [What should I do?]
Edward Newgate: [Gohan, this is the time to summon your courage and boldly tell your mother what you really think.]
Edward Newgate: [Do you want to study, or do you want to train with your father?]
Son Gohan: [I understand.]
A few minutes later...
Son Gohan: [Mom agreed to let me train with Dad and Uncle Piccolo. I will work hard to become stronger over the next three years.]
Lu Bian: [Don't forget to collect the Dragon Balls and wish for your father to overcome his heart disease.]
Son Gohan: [I definitely won't forget.]
Gohan shifted his attention away from the Chat Group and looked at his parents.
Son Goku was wrapping a bandage for Chi-Chi.
Goku had become too strong and failed to control his strength; while discussing Gohan's training with Chi-Chi, he had patted her and accidentally sent her flying.
"Chi-Chi, I'm sorry..." Goku said, full of remorse.
"In the end, I'm always the one who gets hurt." Chi-Chi's arm was fractured.
"Mom, I'm going to ask Aunt Bulma to borrow the Dragon Ball Radar so I can wish for Dad not to die from his illness," Gohan said to Chi-Chi.
"Sigh..." Chi-Chi sighed softly.
"Honestly, when will our family ever be able to live a peaceful life?" Chi-Chi said.
When he was four, Gohan was kidnapped by his uncle Raditz, and Goku died in battle. Afterward, Gohan was taken by King Piccolo, and a year later, he had to fight the invading Saiyans.
Around the age of five or six, after a bitter struggle, they defeated the invading Saiyans on Earth. Then, he and Krillin traveled to Namek, hoping to use the Namekian Dragon Balls to resurrect their fallen comrades, only to encounter the galactic tyrant Frieza.
Now seven years old, Gohan was about to face a terrifying future three years from now...
Chi-Chi's greatest wish was for Gohan to grow up like a normal person; she didn't want him to be some hero who saved the Earth.
Gohan had told Chi-Chi what would happen in the future. His father, Son Goku, would die of an illness, and the others would all perish in battle, leaving Gohan alone to fight the terrifying Androids.
The hellish future could still be changed, and Goku had said he needed Gohan's strength. Caught between worry and fear, Chi-Chi had no choice but to let Gohan go train with Goku.
Giving up three years of schooling was better than a lifetime of misery.
"Mom, I'm heading out."
"Gohan, be careful on the road."
"I will."
"Gohan, you can stop by to see Korin and bring back some Senzu Beans," Goku said to Gohan.
"I understand, Dad."
Gohan waved his hand and left the house to collect the Dragon Balls.
Piccolo followed Gohan.
"Uncle Piccolo?"
"Gohan, I'm going to the Lookout. Leave the Senzu Beans to me."
"Oh, thank you, Uncle Piccolo."
"..." Piccolo remained as cold and aloof as ever.
With Piccolo's help, Gohan flew directly to Capsule Corp in West City to find Bulma.
"Ding-dong!" Gohan pressed the doorbell at the entrance of the company.
"Oh, Gohan, you're here? Come on in."
The Nanny Robot opened the door for Gohan, and he entered Bulma's home.
"Gohan, here you go."
"Thank you, Bulma."
"Gohan, the computer blueprints you gave me last time also came from that friend in the other world, right?" Bulma asked Gohan.
"Yes," Gohan admitted.
"I thought so. The design logic and the included program's Evolutionary Algorithm are completely different from Earth's technology. I actually thought you'd scavenged alien tech from Frieza's spaceships."
"I even asked that guy Vegeta, but he only knows how to fight and doesn't understand technology," Bulma complained.
"Is Vegeta-san here with you?" Gohan asked.
"Yeah, my dad is working on a project with him right now."
"What kind of project? Bulma, didn't you say Vegeta doesn't know anything about technology?"
"He's the lab rat for collecting experimental data."
"Do you want to come over and see?"
"Is that okay?"
"Come on over."
In the backyard of Bulma's house, the 300x Gravity Chamber that Dr. Brief had built for Vegeta was finally complete. Vegeta was training inside, with several wireless sensors attached to his body to collect physiological data during his workout.
Dr. Brief sat in front of his laboratory computer, monitoring and analyzing Vegeta's status in real-time.
"Vegeta, your body has reached its limit," Dr. Brief's voice echoed from the speakers in the gravity chamber.
"The computer calculates that you can hold on for another thirty seconds."
"After thirty seconds, I will restore gravity to normal."
"..." Vegeta gritted his teeth and pushed through.
Thirty seconds later, the gravity inside the chamber returned to Earth's standard. Dr. Brief opened the chamber door and had the Nanny Robot carry Vegeta out.
"You really are pushing yourself, Vegeta," Dr. Brief remarked.
Dr. Brief wore a Scouter on his right ear. Vegeta had asked him to replicate it to make it easier to track the growth of his combat power; it also featured wireless communication, effectively serving as a uniquely styled wireless headset.
Bulma had previously dismantled Raditz's Scouter, and Dr. Brief had only managed to create this replica after consulting with her.
"Vegeta, Gohan is here," Bulma said as she walked over.
Hearing that Son Gohan had arrived, Vegeta forced himself off the Nanny Robot's back and stood tall.
"Gohan, what... what do you need?" Vegeta asked, looking toward Son Gohan.
"I came to borrow the Dragon Ball Radar from Bulma. I heard you were here too, Vegeta-san."
"Is this about Kakarot?"
"It's about his viral heart disease."
"Be careful."
"What do you mean, Vegeta-san?" Gohan asked.
"A viral heart disease—if it's a virus, it might be contagious."
"You need to think this through before you make a wish to Shenron."
"We don't want a situation where Kakarot is healthy, but we've all caught his viral heart disease instead," Vegeta said in a low voice.
"Thank you! I will!"
"Thank you very much, Vegeta-san!" Gohan bowed in gratitude.
"Hmph!" Vegeta snorted coldly.
"You're really awkward, Vegeta," Bulma said, laughing as she looked at him.
"You're actually quite concerned about Son, aren't you?"
"Shut up," Vegeta glared at Bulma.
