"Huo Yuhao," Huo Yuhao said, snapping back to his senses and looking at Xiao Xiao beside him.
Xiao Xiao was not exceptionally beautiful, but she looked delicate and refined, the kind of girl who grew more pleasing the longer one looked. There was even a hint of shyness on her face as she looked at Huo Yuhao.
Huo Yuhao studied Xiao Xiao for a moment before turning back to the scenery outside the window.
As long as your homeroom teacher was not a freak like Zhou Yi, the first few classes at Shrek Academy would not be especially exhausting.
Mu Jin's first lesson was concise and straightforward. First, all the students introduced themselves, then she began explaining the historical changes in the status of the continent's soul master system.
From there, she went on to discuss the career changes brought about for soul masters after the rise of Soul Tools.
That part was somewhat similar to Zhou Yi's lesson, but unlike Zhou Yi, she did not lavish praise on Soul Tools. She merely gave a general overview of several unavoidable changes they had brought about.
Huo Yuhao listened vaguely and did not hear any viewpoints that particularly impressed him. He remained half-listening, half-lost in thought.
However, when class ended, Huo Yuhao did discover one commendable thing about Mu Jin—she did not drag out class.
As someone who had once suffered endlessly under teachers who refused to end class on time, Huo Yuhao was rather pleased to encounter one who did not overrun.
He strolled into the cafeteria and got himself a mid-range boxed meal. Leaning against the sink where trays were washed, he slowly finished eating, then unhurriedly left the campus and picked up another light meal he could bring back to the dormitory.
Then he strolled back into the dormitory, where he happened to find Wang Dong, fresh from a shower, lying sprawled across her bed like a dead dog.
"Yo, Brother Dong, greetings to you. What's with that pose?" Huo Yuhao suppressed the excitement in his eyes as he teased Wang Dong in a deliberately sarcastic tone.
"Get lost," Wang Dong said, rolling her eyes as she reluctantly stretched out a hand to punch Huo Yuhao in the stomach.
Huo Yuhao sidestepped it, then hung the light meal box from Wang Dong's wrist. "Come on, you're already this wiped out and you still want to fight me? If I really did anything to you now—some zero-distance operations—you wouldn't be able to do a thing about it."
Wang Dong turned red in an instant like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. Glowering at Huo Yuhao's face, which was a few notches more handsome than in the original novel, she snapped irritably, "Are you disgusting or what? Saying things like that between two men!"
"It's precisely male roommates who love talking about things like that. You can tell at a glance you've never lived in a group dorm before. Hurry up and eat. You've still got training this afternoon." Huo Yuhao sat down beside his own bed and leaned back against it, watching the bristling Wang Dong with amusement.
Wang Dong gave a light snort, opened the food box, and began wolfing it down. As she ate, she complained, "What restaurant is this? The flavor's way too bland!"
Huo Yuhao curled his lips in a smile. "It's called light food. It's what people who work out eat. Didn't you basically join a fitness class? Aerobics in the morning, and maybe weight training in the afternoon."
Wang Dong put down her food box, a fierce gleam flashing in her eyes as she stared at Huo Yuhao. "You're still laughing at me! I'll fight you!"
With that, Wang Dong pushed off the bed with both hands and launched herself at Huo Yuhao like a giant frog.
Huo Yuhao smiled faintly. His hands shot forward, catching Wang Dong beneath the arms before he flipped her onto his bed.
"You know, this fitness class really is effective." Laughing, Huo Yuhao pinned Wang Dong's hands over her head with one hand while the other wickedly tickled her underarms and soft waist.
Having read the original novel and knowing that Wang Dong was ticklish, Huo Yuhao was practically answering with the answer sheet in hand. There was no chance he could get it wrong.
"Hahaha! I surrender, I surrender! I was wrong, I really was! Brother Hao, spare me~" Wang Dong struggled desperately at first, but by the second tickle, she had already begun laughing uncontrollably.
In less than three minutes, Wang Dong had lost even the strength to resist and could only beg for mercy instead of challenging Huo Yuhao.
Huo Yuhao curled his lips and released Wang Dong. She sat up, her face still flushed after laughing so hard, and looked at Huo Yuhao with considerable resentment. "You knew this morning, didn't you?"
Huo Yuhao poured himself a glass of water, then looked toward the windowsill. "Of course I did. And you're quite something yourself. After seeing your homeroom teacher's name, you didn't even ask around the academy first."
Wang Dong coughed lightly, smoothed down her slightly disheveled short hair, and sat back on her own bed to continue eating. After swallowing a mouthful, she said to Huo Yuhao, "How was I supposed to know there were so many tricks to this? If I'd known earlier, I would've..."
Huo Yuhao turned around and sat on the windowsill, looking at Wang Dong. "You would've done what? Got your family to use their influence to alter Shrek's class assignment system?"
Wang Dong swallowed her words and sighed. Huo Yuhao crooked a finger at her. "Actually, if you really can't stand this teacher, I do have a not-so-great idea that could help you get away from her."
Wang Dong's eyes immediately lit up. She stood, padded barefoot over to Huo Yuhao, and leaned close. "What idea? Let's hear it."
Huo Yuhao put on an awkward expression. "I do have an idea, but it's a little underhanded."
Wang Dong froze for a moment. Once she understood what Huo Yuhao meant, she waved a hand. "Just say it. Even a bad idea is better than me having no idea at all!"
Huo Yuhao looked at Wang Dong and clasped his hands behind his back with an air of calm authority. "You have no idea?"
Wang Dong nodded, and Huo Yuhao smoothly continued, "If you want to ask someone else for an idea, how should you ask?"
Seeing Wang Dong genuinely reveal a confused expression, Huo Yuhao rubbed his forehead. His desire to tease her faded somewhat as he said, "Call me Brother Huo three times."
A flush rose on Wang Dong's face again as she looked at Huo Yuhao with difficulty. "You!"
Huo Yuhao closed his eyes, maintaining that same composed manner. After a long while, Wang Dong lowered her head and quickly called him Brother Huo three times in a voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz.
Seeing that Wang Dong looked as though she might cry, Huo Yuhao stopped teasing her. He crooked a finger and had her lean close to whisper in her ear.
"You can't easily transfer yourself out of her class, but you must have already felt this teacher's personality this morning. It'd be easy enough to make her expel you. You don't look like an ordinary noble's child either. Once she expels you, have your family pull a few strings, and wouldn't you naturally be transferred to another class..."
