After Nan Feng ruthlessly tore away the last shred of Bibi Dong's dignity, she completely broke down.
"Why did you have to expose me?!"
She clutched her head, tears flooding down her face as she shouted at Nan Feng in despair,
"Why couldn't you just let me... go on living in self-deception?!"
Nan Feng did not get angry as he watched the hysterical Bibi Dong.
"I don't oppose running from reality."
He looked at her quietly, his tone calm. "After all, sometimes, if you don't run from it for a while, this shitty reality really does make life unbearable."
"But you can't keep running forever."
Bibi Dong's sobs abruptly faltered.
"When you come across a hurdle you can't get over, running away once in a while is called resting. It's called catching your breath."
"But if you keep running, that's indulgence. That's complete and utter self-abandonment."
"I've run away too."
Nan Feng sighed. "So I understand better than you how empty self-abandonment becomes. You can't find release through avoidance. You'll only sink deeper and deeper until you completely collapse."
Nan Feng stepped forward and looked down at Bibi Dong, who was sitting on the ground.
"If a problem isn't solved, it will always be there."
"If a wound isn't treated, it will fester, ooze pus, and might even spread through your whole body until the pain becomes unbearable."
"If deceiving yourself could truly set you free, if it could let you live happily for the rest of your life, then I would never have exposed you."
Nan Feng's gaze sharpened. "But clearly, that isn't the case. Not only haven't you moved on, you've only become more miserable."
Bibi Dong's body shuddered violently as she bit her lip hard.
Nan Feng extended a hand toward her.
"Digging out rotten flesh and cleaning a wound is destined to hurt."
"But only by enduring that pain, only by healing the wound completely... can you go farther."
Nan Feng looked at her.
"Resting is meant to let you walk a longer road."
"It's not meant to let you sleep here until you die."
Bibi Dong did not take Nan Feng's outstretched hand.
She crouched on the ground, buried her face deep in her knees, and began to weep soundlessly.
Nan Feng sighed, slowly crouched down, and gently patted her frail back with his broad palm.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here."
"From now on, I won't let anyone bully you again."
Those two simple sentences instantly shattered Bibi Dong's final line of defense.
She suddenly threw herself into Nan Feng's arms, clutching his clothes tightly as she wailed like a child who had suffered every injustice imaginable.
Nan Feng held her gently without saying a word.
No one knew how long she cried. With her emotions swinging wildly, Bibi Dong eventually cried herself unconscious in his arms.
She slept for three whole days.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in a soft gray-white spider silk hammock.
Directly above her, Nan Feng hung upside down in midair like a giant spider, quietly watching her.
"Oh, you're awake? How was your sleep?"
Bibi Dong's face reddened slightly after waking up, and she looked a little awkward. "How... how long did I sleep?"
"No idea."
Nan Feng crossed his arms and swayed while hanging upside down. "I've been in this damn place for so long that I've long lost track of time. Maybe, perhaps, probably... two or three days."
Bibi Dong stared at him in astonishment. "You stayed in that position the whole time? Watching me?"
Nan Feng looked at her as if she were an idiot. "What else was I supposed to do?"
"Was I supposed to roll out of here? Please, this is my territory! Letting you sleep in my bed was already out of pity because you cried yourself unconscious, and now you want to kick me out of my own home?"
Bibi Dong hurriedly waved her hands. "That's not what I meant! It's just... you made this spider silk hammock yourself. Couldn't you have made another one for yourself while you were at it?"
"How could I do that?!"
The moment Nan Feng heard that, he refused with righteous indignation. "The web arrangement in this room was carefully designed! It absolutely can't be altered casually! Add one more strand, and the perfect artistic beauty will be ruined!"
Bibi Dong wore a strange expression. "...So for the sake of aesthetics, you hung yourself from the ceiling?"
Nan Feng spun dexterously through the air, then asked with a puzzled look,
"After awakening your Martial Soul, didn't you feel that instinctive urge too?"
"I thought all spiders liked hanging in the air and swaying around."
Bibi Dong's eye twitched violently as she gritted her teeth.
"I'm a normal woman! Hanging upside down in midair... what kind of sight would that be?!"
Nan Feng rolled his eyes speechlessly. "Fine, fine. You're a lady. You're above all that."
He flipped lightly down from midair, clapped his hands, and his expression turned serious again.
"Alright, down to business. You've cried, and you've slept. So? Is your head clearer now? Have you decided whether you want me to help you completely remove that Rakshasa Evil Thought?"
Bibi Dong fell silent for a moment, but in the end, she shook her head. "No."
Nan Feng raised a brow, his expression darkening slightly.
"Why? Don't tell me you naively think you can turn around and control that power. If that's what you're thinking, give it up now!"
"The Rakshasa God is an evil god who governs the world's wicked thoughts. Her divine power itself is the most twisted form of evil thought! If you want to control it, you must fully accept that evil thought. Like I said before, once Rakshasa sets her sights on you, you'll either be tortured until your mind collapses or completely assimilated into a madwoman!"
Bibi Dong bit her lower lip, a trace of unwillingness and stubbornness flashing through her eyes.
"But this is... divine power I worked so hard to obtain! If I give it up now, will I ever find another chance in this world to touch the realm of gods?"
"Another chance?"
Nan Feng chuckled. "Of course there is. It's far away in the sky and right before your eyes. Isn't there a ready-made one right here?"
Bibi Dong froze, her face full of bewilderment. "A ready-made one?"
Nan Feng pressed a hand to his forehead in exasperation. "What's wrong with you, girl? You cried once and your memory got worse too? Didn't I tell you before? The Capital of Slaughter was originally a legacy ground bestowed by the Asura God. Rakshasa was just some latecomer who launched a sneak attack!"
"You're standing right here, yet instead of choosing the genuine God of Law Enforcement, the Asura God, you want to fool around with some shady Rakshasa God? What were you thinking?"
Bibi Dong was even more speechless. "The Rakshasa God's evil thought came looking for me on its own! As for the Asura God... even if I wanted to choose him, how? He didn't choose me!"
"Choosing Asura is simple."
Nan Feng spread his hands. "Obtain Divine Slaughter's Domain and slowly temper your killing intent. Once your Divine Slaughter's Domain becomes powerful enough to evolve and transform into the Domain of Slaughter, the Asura God will naturally send down Divine Sense and open the inheritance."
"In theory, everyone who possesses Divine Slaughter's Domain is qualified to begin Asura's inheritance."
Bibi Dong's eye twitched wildly. "...Simple? You call that simple?!"
Tempering a domain until it evolved enough to draw a god's attention was harder than ascending to heaven!
Nan Feng ignored her frustration and casually pointed at the dome overhead.
"The guy up there came after me. What he inherited was the Asura Godhood. But his luck was a little bad. Rakshasa got the better of him, and now he's probably so muddled in his sleep that there's an eighty-percent chance he won't wake up."
Bibi Dong froze instantly. "Up there? You mean..."
"The King of Slaughter." Nan Feng snapped his fingers and added, "Oh, right. Using a name you know better, you've heard of Tang Chen, haven't you? He's an Ultimate Douluo, and from the Clear Sky Sect."
Bibi Dong's expression changed drastically as she cried out, "Tang Chen?! He's the King of Slaughter?!"
"Yes, and no."
Nan Feng shook his head, his voice carrying a hint of lament. "Back when Tang Chen was undergoing the eighth trial of the Asura God's Trial, the Rakshasa Evil Thought secretly sabotaged him, causing him to lose control of his mind. Then a Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King from Hell Road seized the opportunity, parasitized him, and became the current King of Slaughter."
"Simply put, the body belongs to Tang Chen, but the consciousness belongs to that dead bat."
"So, if you're interested in the Asura Godhood, I do have a little shortcut that can help you along."
